Chapter 5: Dinner Party

1501 Words
~Chloe's P. O. V.~ This week has gone by really fast. Dad and I went shopping and did some remodeling for a room I chose. I am still not used to living here. Talk about a 180. From the slums to silk. In one day. Forget the fact that my grandfather is the leader of The Hellhound Syndicate. I groaned and laid on my new bed. Hades was sitting next to me. I petted him and smiled. "I'm okay, buddy. Just a bit scared." I whispered. "In one day I went from dirt to diamonds." I put my head on his belly. "How am I supposed to feel, boy? Its weird. Freaking me out." I curled myself in and buried my face. Whining into my blanket. "What should I do?" Hades licked my head. It made me giggle. I looked up and saw him wagging his tail. "Thanks, boy. That helped." "Knock, knock." Dad came into the room and whistled. "This looks good, Chlo." I had painted the walls blue and white. I added the pictures of Timber and me in frames. Then added the pictures of me and my boyfriends. After that, I did some mural paintings of pretty flower swirls. He set down a box of clothes. "Don't hate these, okay? They were your grandmother's clothes." I quickly got up and opened the box. I covered my mouth. "Dad. These are gorgeous." I picked up a dress. I was never one to wear them. But these dresses? "It looks like Jessica Rabbit's dress. Red, sleek and volumptuous." I twirled it against myself. It was sexy as hell. "I'll ignore that last comment. But we need to get these tailored to fit you. I called for my personal tailor's assistant. She should be here shortly." He brought in another box. "I want Seth here too. We are going into enemy territory. I don't trust Rick." I sat down and lowered my head. "Do you think he knew this whole time?" I sat on my bed and just petted Hades. Dad sat with me. He sighed and took the dress from my hands. "I don't believe so. Remember that token your villain boyfriend gave you?" I nodded and pulled it out from my pocket. "He said that a random stranger gave it to him. I think Rick only found you recently." The other two dogs joined us. "Probably sooner than me." Hades whined and laid his fat head on my lap. "He had better explain himself. Like how long did he know?" Dad chuckled to himself. "We will get the answers tonight. It seems Hades hasn't left your side." I smiled and hugged the dog. His head was so big and kissable. I kissed him once on the head. "Muah. I do love this guy." Dad stood up and stretched. "How about we go pick out your own dog tomorrow? Make a day out of it." I looked at the pictures of Timber. I do love my huskies. But I am starting to love Great Danes too. Hades got up and stretched out his legs. Shaking his body viciously. Then he looked at us and barked once. "It's alright, Hades. I don't plan on going anywhere for a while. Besides, you might have a new brother or sister to play with." Gerdy and Belle pitter patted into the room and attacked Hades with kisses. Ladies man. I almost laughed. Another few moments of talking and laughing with my dad. Mom. I wish you were here. Dad's a great guy. If not also scary. I wonder how scary you would have been. I shivered as I thought of the only other mother type I had. Before she kicked me out. It wasn't my fault that her house was vandalized. I tried to explain that I wasn't even home. But I had no alibi and no witnesses. So, I was unjustly kicked out. The doorbell rang. Dad and I got up and the dogs followed. It was dad's tailoring assistant. He showed her to a room I have only seen in movies. I don't even know what it's called. He left the room and she had me strip down to my underwear. Thank gods dad left the room. This was so humiliating. "How often have you eaten, Miss. Chloe?" Her question caught me off guard. I stood still as I thought of an answer. "Until recently, not often. I fed my dog every day. But I only ate like 3 times a week. Bills had to be paid." She nodded and took notes. "I see. You're malnourished, Miss. Chloe." She left the room. "I'll be right back. I need to talk to Mr. Azazel." She bowed and closed the door. Little ol' nosy me wanted to hear what was said. I stepped off this platform thingy and pressed my ear to the door. "Sir. She is way too thin. I could see her ribs thin. Her bust may not have suffered, but the rest of her body did." "What do you mean?" My dad asked. "What I am saying is, she's been starved most of her life. Her skin pigment is nearly that of a recently dead corpse. If you hadn't found her, sir? She would have died." I covered my mouth. "Within the month." That little amount of time? "I know you have the money and resources, sir. Keep her fed. I suggest talking to a dietary professional." She paused. "How many meals has she eaten since coming here?" "I made sure she had three meals a day." He paused too. "It has been a week. It might take time for her to gain weight." Easier said then done. I always had trouble gaining weight. "Right. Well, I will do what I can to make sure her dress for tonight is finished." She started to come back. I scrambled to where I was standing and got back into position. She came in and began working on the measurements of my body. After getting what she needed, she told me to get re-dressed and to meet her in the living room in 3 hours. I asked how a tailor could do that. She winked at me and said that her ability is needle threading. So, I did as she told me. Even though I hate being told what to do. Still, I went into the living room and sat on the couch. Hades came back to my side. He jumped up on the couch and laid on my lap. "Hey, boy. Did you eat dinner?" He licked his chops in response. "Good boy. Yes you are." His head pushed into my stomach a little. I giggled. "You can't get closer to me as you already are, silly." I picked up the remote and turned on a dog show. Later on, it was time to get ready to go to my grandfather's. I was nervous as hell. Seth was standing outside of the mansion wearing a tuxedo. He looked sexy. He was also holding out a bouquet of white lilies. I took them and smiled at my boyfriend. It didn't last long, though. Dad tossed him like dead flowers. I scolded him and helped Seth up. We all got into a car that pulled up out of no where. The driver came out and opened the doors for us. "Mr. Azazel. Miss. Chloe. Mr. Seth." He bowed. We all got in. The door closed. I looked ahead of us to where another was sitting. Grandfather. "Rick." My dad crossed his arms. "Azazel." Are they always hostile towards each other? "Evening, grandfather." I was super uncomfortable. "Ah. Granddaughter. You look lovely tonight. As do you, boyfriend Seth." He looked at my partner. Seth was even more nervous than I was. "H-How do y-you do?" I took his hand. We drove in silence to the Hellhound's main base. It was no base I have seen. My jaw dropped. It was like a small city within the city! We pulled up to a vary large castle! The driver stopped the car and came to open the door. The three of us filed out. I think I was sweating. "Welcome home, Chloe." The staff bowed and greeted us. "Welcome, Sir Azazel." I was in awe. "Welcome, Sir Seth." The staff were lined from the large and tall steps to the entrance of the foyer. Hanging from the ceiling was the Hellhound's symbol. We were taken to the large dining room. "Please, sit. We will explain everything, granddaughter." I swallowed my fear and sat closest to grandpa. "Ah, my lovely wife." Grandma was sitting on the left of the table. "Ricky!" She got up and hugged him. Looking at me. "Oh, you must be my adorable grandbaby." She rushed over and hugged me too. She pulled back and looked at me. "Ricky... She reminds me of our Shawna." Grandma was crying. "Welcome home, Chloe." I hadn't realized it until Seth wiped my eyes. I was crying. I was home.
