A SECOND CHANCE
Charlotte stepped off the train and onto the snowy platform, breathing in the crisp winter air. She had returned to her hometown, a small village near a ski resort, to spend the holiday season with her family.
As she made her way through the station, Charlotte couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. She was excited to see her family and friends, but she was also nervous about facing her past.
It had been a year since Charlotte's divorce, and she was still healing from the wounds. She had thought that she and her ex-husband, Alex, were happy, but it turned out that he had been cheating on her with his assistant.
The betrayal had cut deep, and Charlotte had struggled to come to terms with what had happened. She had thrown herself into her work, trying to distract herself from the pain, but it had only made her feel emptier.

As she walked out of the station, Charlotte was greeted by her brother, Jack. He was a tall, lanky guy with a messy beard and a warm smile.
"Hey, sis!" he said, enveloping her in a bear hug. "Welcome home!"
