The Last Werewolf

Chapter: FOUR

(Dream continued)

It was like I was in some kind of trance or something. There is just something very familiar about those eyes. The creature slowly made its way towards me and I found myself starting to reach out with a shaking hand to maybe feel the fur or something. 'Well, I have lost my freaking mind!' I thought to myself. The creature never growled or anything. Once it was close enough, it lowered its head and leaned right into my touch. The fur is very soft, I instantly felt calm, relaxed and even safe. I heard a very low rumble coming from its chest. It's almost like a purr. A few moments later, the wolf creature turned and walked over to a patch of grass and circled around and lay down. I swear it motioned with its head for me to sit beside it.

I walked closer and sat down near the shoulder of the creature. I even rested my head on the fur as well. I felt safe and calm mostly. Even being so close, we just sat there watching the water rush past us. I started to hear someone talking, but it was just a whisper. I looked around but didn't see anyone else. Then I looked over at the creature and I swear to you that it looked to be smiling at me.

"My name is Max, little mate. I know that you don't understand what is going on right now, but I do promise you that you are completely safe. You have already met my human, and we both already love you so very much." I'm not too sure what the hell is going on other than I'm still dreaming. "You are what is known as a wolf shifter, or a werewolf. I am a Lycan. We are just about the same, but my senses are a little stronger. My human will tell you everything when the time comes." Once he finished talking, I found myself feeling a bit dizzy, then all of a sudden I was lost in nothing but black emptiness.

(END OF DREAM)

I woke up with a quick gasp and sat up in a hurry. I stayed there for a moment to calm myself down and to catch my breath. I can hear the birds singing and see the sun shinning through my bedroom window. I suddenly remembered the weird dream. It felt so damn real. I get up and take a quick shower to get ready for the day. I noticed that we needed to get a few extra things from the store, so while Kim and Toni were starting on the prep work for tomorrow. I went to the store to get the stuff that we needed. As I was loading the stuff up onto the bed of Black Beauty, yes, my truck has a name. Anyway, while loading the stuff up, I'm caught by surprise of a familiar sexy voice coming from behind me. "Nice to see you again love." His voice rings out, causing me to jump and spin around with my hand on my chest trying to settle my poor heart

Rick and his friends are trying to hold in their laughs. "What are you up to, beautiful?" He asks with a wink. "I'm just picking up some things for the cookout/pool party my friends and I are having, plus it's also my 18th birthday as well." I tell them, then I continue. "You guys are more than welcome to join us, I'm sure Kim and Toni wouldn't mind, but I'll still run it by them and text you later." I say with a smile. "Do you still have my number love?" I just nod and feel my face start to heat up. "Oh, by the way, these two ugly mugs here are my best friends. This one is Chris and that is Nate." The guy named Nate grabbed Rick in a headlock and in a second, Nate found himself on the ground looking up at Rick with wide eyes. I couldn't help but to laugh.

After I got back home, I put everything away and grabbed myself a snack before heading into the living room to find Kim and Toni playing a video game. They both say hi, then Kim holds out a piece of paper to me, and so I take it. "Go on, We both know that you want to get to know him." She says with a smile. I hear Toni making kissing noises and Kim laughs, but I just roll my eyes with a smile on my face. They make me so mad sometimes, but I love them like family. I let them know about running into Rick and invited him and his friends. They both said it was totally fine with them. I told them goodnight and headed to my room, got myself a shower and went to watch some TV. After a while, I remembered I had left my phone in the bathroom, so I went to grab it to put it on the charger. I took a deep breath and decided to text Rick.

"Hey Rick, this is Ash, umm the one who kicked your ass in pool the other night." I laughed just thinking about it. "Just letting you know that my friends said it was totally fine for you and the guys to join us." I finally sent the text and put my phone on my night stand. I get excited when my phone chimes with a new text and its from Rick. "That's awesome love, should we bring anything with us?" He asks. . . "Just bring swim trunks and a change of clothes with you guys." I send back, then he sends another "You got it! We will see you ladies tomorrow." I laid my phone back down and got comfy. This guy, this total stranger, has me feeling like a love-sick school girl. I'm very excited about spending some time with Rick. Hell, I would be thrilled if it led to something more. Sleep finally takes over and I fall asleep with a smile on my face.

(Rick's POV)

My mother sends me and the guys to get everything that is needed for our annual Welcoming cookout we have for the newly shifted Lycans and if by chance, they may find a mate, a true mate, that is. As we're getting out of my truck, I'm suddenly hit by my mate's scent. I spotted her loading up stuff in the back of a truck. I made my way over to her and said, "It's nice to see you again love." My poor mate spun around as fast as she could with her hand on her chest trying to settle her heart. The guys and myself couldn't hold in our laugh, but it really didn't work out that well.
