Kittens!
Van’s announcement set us all into motion. I felt like a proud mama as I searched for items to make P.K.’s nest as comfortable as possible. She seemed to sense that we were doing all of this for her because she climbed right into the box Van had tilted on its side in the mudroom and padded with old blankets.
When my nerves began to kick in, I asked Van if we should call the veterinarian from his office. He assured me that nature would take over and guide P.K. through what she needed to do. He also reminded me that, as a vet technician, he had been involved in the births of multitudes of kittens. I still would have felt better if the vet had been here with us, but Van promised to call her the moment anything out of the ordinary or the slightest bit concerning happened.
