It was already morning and I didn't manage to get any sleep. Last night incident still replaying in my mind.
'Who was that and why did he want me dead?' All night I kept repeating these two questions.
Eventually, I get out of bed and wash quickly. I need to go see Samoa. I put my uniform on and check the cut from my neck. It wasn't bad, but it was stinging like hell.
When I get down to the kitchen, everyone was already there.
"Good morning Invi! Did you sleep well?" My sister asks with a huge smile.
"Not really..." I said scratching my head. I didn't know how to tell them that someone was in my room last night trying to kill me.
"What? Why? It is because of the travel?"
I shake my head and went closer to them.
Suddenly, Zariel grabs my hand pulling me towards him. He lifts my chin with a finger, anger visible in his eyes.
"Who did that?!" He shouts.
"Did what? What's happening?" Calista ask him while my father came closer to us
"That!" Zariel shouts again pointing at my neck.
"Invi? What happened?"
"Stop being so dramatic! It's just a scratch! I had way worse than that. That i***t wasn't even able to kill me in my sleep!"
Anger was rising inside me.
"Kill you? Who? What are you talking about?" My father asks this time
"There was someone in my room last night! He tried to cut open my throat." I said nonchalantly.
"What?!"
"Yeah... Now calm down. I'm good. But I need to go see Samoa. I need to check some things."
"You should stay longer, daughter! At least a day or two. Rest a bit, then you can go."
"Father you know that I can not do that. A day may be too much."
No one said anything else, so I left.
When I get to Samoa's house no one was there.
"Weird! Did he move? I'm sure this is where father said he's living." I said in a loud voice, not caring about the pax-els that were looking at me like I was insane.
"Are you looking for Samoa?" Came a familiar voice.
"Octava!"
She smiles at me and opens her arms.
"How are you, child? I was hoping to see you before you go back there. How is it?"
"Wild!" That was all I could say.
She nodes her head and put her hand on my shoulder.
"I will show you where Samoa is. But I need to warn you. Whatever you want to do, watch your back! I didn't say this to anyone, but I think something is going on."
She got my attention. Finally, someone who sees through Samoa's facade.
"What do you think it is?"
"So you see it too?"
"Yes. I've tried to speak with my father about this. But he never listens to me."
"Well, the general might be a little stubborn sometimes."
"A little, a?"
She smiles but didn't say anything else.
After about ten minutes we stop in front of a guarded cave.
"Here he is! But you will need to wait for him to come to you. No one is allowed inside. A guard will tell him that you are here."
"Thank you, Octava! It was nice to talk to you again. See you well!"
"See you well, child! Come back in one piece, ok?"
I nod and smile at her before she left.
"What do you want?" One of the soldiers that were guarding the cave asks me.
I narrow my eyes at him and bite my lips trying to contain my anger. "Not too polite, are we?"
"Who are you?" He asks me.
The other soldier eyes widened in realisation when I extended my spear.
"It's her! The War Angel!" He said with a trembling voice.
"Looks like someone did their homework."
"How can I help you?" He asks me while the other one stepped back looking anywhere but me.
"I need to see Samoa! He is waiting for me."
"I'll let him know right now!"
"No! I will go in there! He clearly stated that I need to get inside the cave. He has something to show me before I travel again."
He opened his mouth to speak but I didn't let him.
"What do you think he will do to you two when he finds out how rude you were to me?"
They looked at each other and nodded their heads stepping out of my way.
"Thank you, guys!"
I get in and I could not believe what I'm seeing. Lots of crystals were placed on the cave's walls and wires coming out of them only to be connected to a big cylinder.
"Invicta! I was waiting for you! Did the guys treat you right?"
I nod without looking at him.
"What is this?" I asked still looking at the cylinder.
"This is Nibira future. I was working on this for so many years and now is almost completed. Just a few finishes and is done. Then you will know." He said looking in distance with a smirk on his face. "For now, let's have a look at your transportation device."
I followed him deeper into the cave. There were many rooms. Each of them containing a cylinder.
'What is his plan?'
"Stop thinking about that!" He points to the cylinder. " I promise you that you will find out what it is at the right time."
We walk past several rooms before he stopped.
"Here! Let me put it for you!"
"Mmm... No worries Samoa, I can handle a necklace." I said sarcastically.
I open my palm for him to place the device and when he did I could not notice the difference. There was some dark smoke-like inside of the crystal.
"Oh...that! That is just because of the coordinates. You know, the places you visit?"
"I see..." I said even if I didn't trust him.
"Now put it on and try it! Think of a place you want to go for the start."
I did as he said, thinking about my favourite place, near the stream. But when I opened my eyes I am met with wilderness.
The pendant starts burning my skin. I grabbed it quickly, pull it off and throw it on the ground.
The crystal was now completely black and smoke was coming out of it before explodes.
'This was a trap. I was right about Samoa! But what about the others? What should I do now? I have no transportation device.' I thought.
I put my hand on my side searching for my spear and sigh in relief when I feel it.
