"Who died?" I ask as soon as I heard someone crying next to me.
"Invi? Sister are you awake? How do you feel?"
I open my eyes and I am met by Calista red puffy ones. She had a large smile on her face, while tears were flowing down her cheeks
"I've been for a while. Just wanted to see how much you can do that."
She slaps my shoulder and starts laughing.
"Ouch!" I shout.
"Oh... I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to."
"I know you waited for me to wake up just so you can hurt me." I joke with her.
"You know me so well, sister!"
We both burst into laughter but stopped when the door opens suddenly slamming on the wall.
"What happened? Are you alright?" A panicked Zariel asks, followed by my father.
"Invi? Invi! You are awake! How are you? It is still hurting much?"
"I, I'm not that bad. Thank you! Thanks for bringing us back!"
"You know! I'm sorry for what I said there to you. You know about protecting you... I was just angry. I..." he said, avoiding my eyes.
"I know, Zariel! You're forgiven!" I said in a deep voice making everyone in the room laughing.
My father came to me, tears flooding his eyes. "I won't ask how you are! I'm just grateful that you are awake now! And by the jokes you made, I'm pretty sure that you feel good enough."
He kissed my forehead, then look me in the eyes. "Just don't do that again! Zariel told us what happened. It could have ended worse than this."
I nod and give him A small smile. "Can we go home now?" You know that I don't like being here."
Instead of the amusement that was always clear in their faces at my jokes, I notice sadness.
"What's wrong?" I ask when no one said anything.
"Invi, do you know how much you were asleep?"
"What do you mean how much? A high and a couple of hours maybe. It's around noon, so that means about twelve or fourteen hours?"
"No, Invi! It's been six weeks." My father said with sadness in his voice.
"What?!" I yell throwing away the covers and getting out of bed. "Six weeks? But how? I mean, just because of a bite?"
"Invi, calm down, please!"
"But, father! How is this possible?"
"The healer said that that beast had poison in his saliva. You could have died if it wasn't for Zariel to bring you back in time. Just a few more minutes and we could have lost you!"
Tears were streaming down his cheeks. I never in my whole life have seen my father crying.
"Father, it's ok, I'm fine now! I'm here! Now let's go home, please!"
"We can't! I'm sorry, Ivi! We weren't able to protect our home. More than half of the people that survived the first two attacks have died. We couldn't protect them! It's like the Molox knows us too well."
I sit down I the floor, anger surging through my system. "I'm gonna make them pay for this, one day! Where is everyone? Where are we now?" I ask my father, who was now sitting next to me.
"We are still on Nibira. But somewhere in the North. We made a campus here for the pax-el all over the Nibira to come. We must find a new home. There are still over a million pax-els, we can't live like this forever."
"What about Nibira's Heart? We will die without it."
"Samoa have it! He manages to take it just before the Sacred Chamber was destroyed by Molox."
I couldn't believe what I hear. Nibira is no longer our home.
"Can you give me something to change? Like my uniform? I need to get out of here. Please?" I ask looking at my sister.
I know exactly what I have to do, even if that means leaving my family behind. I need to go and find a new home for us, for all the pax-els.
Calista handed me a bag. "Here! Your uniform is inside along with your spear."
"My spear? How could my spear fit in there?" I ask confused? My weapon was big enough to tower me if I plop it next to me.
My sister's face brightens. "It seems like it can be adjusted. Its length could be modified to fit everywhere, which is pretty cool. I mean you can wear it like a knife and then just took it off and will be as long as three swords put together."
"Oh... How did I not notice it before?"
"I don't know! But it's happened right after you killed that beast. Do you not remember?" Zariel said this time.
I turn to look at him more confused. "No! It seems that I don't. Anyway, can you give me five minutes? I need to change."
They all nodded and left the room. I start taking my clothes off, so I can put on my uniform.
'Tonight I need to leave. Otherwise, it might be too late.' I thought fingering the transportation device. I still have it.
"Come on, Invi! What took you so long?" Zariel asks as soon as I step out of the room. My father and Calista burst into laugher.
I look around me and notice many buildings similar to ours were here. "What is this place? I thought the campus is... Something else?"
"This, my daughter, was the first place where pax-els lived when they first came on Nibira. This was once our home." My father said taking my hands in his. "I'm so glad you are well and here with us. I need to speak with Samoa, now that you are awake. I will ask him to send someone else to look for a new home. I can't lose you!"
I didn't say anything. I knew he will never agree with me to go out there again. He will try to stop me.
"Come on now! We can finish this history lesson while we eat! I'm starving!" Zariel spoke again.
