It was midnight. Most of the pax-els here were asleep. I get out of our house heading east. I needed to be at a safe distance from them before I use my transportation device because its light will bring attention.
I sneak behind the soldiers that were patrolling near the houses and keep walking for about five minutes more before I stop.
I grab my spear handle ready to fight when I hear steps behind me.
"What are you doing here?" I ask when I turn around and I see Samoa looking at me with a smile on his hideous face.
"I could ask the same."
"I think you already know the answers to that question, Samoa! And if you are here to stop me, just know I won't give up without a fight."
He starts laughing and step closer. "Oh, no my dear child. I'm here to make sure no one will stop you because you are doing the right thing. And I wanted to wish you good luck! The pax-els future is in your hand."
"Aa... Thank you? Now if you don't have something else to say, I will go before my father noticed that I'm not there. Tell him that it was my choice, my calling. I'll be back as soon as I find something. Maybe a week, maybe a few months. Just wait for me. I promise I will come back!"
"We will, child! Now go!"
I think about going to another place and the familiar feeling overcomes me. I open my eyes and all I could see was some red dust. There were no trees, grass, water or animals. It was wilderness. There was no life.
I did this, again and again, that night. So many times that I lost count. It happened to go in the same place more than once. I need to do something so I can keep track of where I was or where I go. But first I need to find a place to rest.
I travel once more and when I look around me I see trees. Lots of them. Everything was so green. I head a river a made my way in that direction. It was a good sign.
'Could it be possible to found it so quickly?'
But a loud howl interrupts my thoughts.
"Of course, if there is water so are animals," I said to myself.
I didn't mind the beast for too long. If I'm lucky enough maybe I have time to eat and sleep a bit before some monsters attack me.
I put my bag down and open it, taking out something to eat. I took enough food to last me for few days.
After I finish eating I grab my little toolbox and start to continue work on my map reader. It was a bracelet that will help me travel. I've been working at it from the day I volunteered for doing this.
I name it IMR, which means Invicta's map reader.
I know it might sound stupid, but it will help me not getting lost. My goal is to connect it to my transportation device and hopefully, it will give me enough information about the place that I'm travelled to. How will that happen? Well, Nibira's Heart will do the hard work for me. I'm sure it will work. I mean if we can travel to different places with this crystal... Then why not travel to that exact place?
The monster that I heard earlier was getting closer.
This was my cue that I needed to leave.
It's been weeks or months since I start travelling. I could barely find any food or water to keep me alive.
Travelling alone in these dangerous places wasn't the best idea. But I didn't have a choice. I will need to get back home soon and I can't stop thinking about how disappointed they will be. I promised that I will find a home for us. But I failed.
I change the bandage from my arm as it was full of blood, fresh and dried. Last night I get here in this place that I call The pit of beasts. After I arrived, I got attacked five times by these furry monsters. I killed them all but they managed to hurt me.
'One more place' I said to myself. I get up and bag all my supplies then ser my bracelet for a new destination. I manage to find a way to differentiate the locations. By stars. They seem to be in the same place no matter where you are when looking at them.
Whit the bag and the spear in my left hand I set the new course.
In less than ten seconds I'm already there. When I look around all I could see were golden eyes looking at me puzzled. The owners of those eyes were looking similar to us. But instead of wings, they had something that looked like needles.
Their skin was red with no clothes to cover it and their teeth were sharp like a sword blade.
They point their needles at me and start screeching. The sound was unbearable. I'm sure my ears will start bleeding soon.
I press the bracelet again going to another location. Maybe this time I have more luck. I was exhausted.
When I get to the next location after a few seconds I start falling again. I look around trying to figure out what's going on and I realised I landed on the edge of a cliff, then the edge break.
I drop my bag struggling to set another course.
"That's it! I need to get back to Nibira!" I said and pressed the bracelet.
I land open my eyes expecting to see more beasts, but instead, I see the familiar buildings.
My bracelet creates a small screen of blue light. I look at it confused. It never happened before.
Year:7034
Time 3:46
Location: Nibira
Inhabitants: pax-el
Population: 19473261
I sigh in relief. I'm finally back home. But my chest still feels heavy.
After 10 months of continuous searching for another planet, where my race could live, I came back with empty hands.
When the portal closes and its blue light disappeared I was greeted by my father's stern face.
My wings automatically fell down my sides.
"Invicta, you're finally back, and exactly how I expected. With nothing new!"
I kneel before him and place my hand over my heart.
"General Belatrox! Please forgive me! I'll do better next time! I swear!"
"There won't be next time, Invi. Too many Molox are here already! There's no time for our people, daughter! "He said in a warmer but sad voice.
"Damn those monsters! I'll go back tomorrow! There needs to be a place for us! And I will find it at any cost! I swear on Nibira's heart!"
"No! Please don't go again Invicta! I was so worried about you! And don't you ever kneel before me! Do you hear me? Never! I should be the one to do that. You risked your life for us!" He said and hugged me.
"I missed you too, father! Where are Calista and Zariel?"
"Come! I'll take you to them! They will be so happy to see you!"
