Mission 22 : Talk to the Commander
WITH enraging force, the dragoness fired a fiery breathe of fire, burning few more trees.
"I told you many times , it will never be yours, " Amber firmly stated , still panting.
He felt tension starting to build up. Why does he felt torn between two sides?
Grey stood up. If he was a summoned one, he wanted to know who summoned him. Because in order to survive this world, he must be with the real winning side.
But then, he doesn't know how? He doesn't even know if this story is a happily ever after or a tragic ending.
But then , another men came. Based from their armours, they were soldiers of the kingdom, though they were on the lower class , the group where he belonged before.
Some were carrying their swords. Some were stretching their arrows with their bows, aiming straight to the dragon. They were at the top of the the waterfalls, where they fell e arlier.
"Fire!" the leader exclaimed.
The dragoness saw it coming, and flap its wings to the extreme. The wind around blew like a tornado, wiping and driving the weakest men in the group. And weakest means including him. His back bumped on a big trunk of an old tree behind. It was a rough one that he felt a widely stinging pain on his back.
He can feel he will have a big bruise behind.
The dragoness flew away without any more fire to breathe. She left without fighting that time. He knew the she knows she cannot win that time.
The men kept firing and aiming their arrows at the dragon but the wind beneath its flying wings keeps on resisting them.
"Captain! Are you okay? " a man shouted from the top.
"We are! Head straight to the castle. Tell the Commander, I ' ll be meeting him tomorrow early in the morning, " she answered back with her Captain's voice.
After confirming, the men qbove went back to where they came from.
While Amber looked at him.
"Why are you here? " she asked.
Is he a traitor in her eyes again? But what if he really is a traitor? What if that that was his real character in this story? What if it is his real role?
"I saw some pixies," he started. What can he get if he hides it? This woman already know he can he can see the taboos. She even discovers that first.
"And? " she asked again, as she put on her sword at the scabbard.
"They appeared," he said.
"Appeared? They? " Her forehead crumpled.
"Yup. They appeared in a line and went inside the forest. I don' t know how or why but I just found myself enchanted and followed them here. Until ... " he said.
" ... Until you saw the dragon," she continued.
"Yes. Until I saw her."
"We need to see the Commander tomorrow," she stated.
"What? Why? I thought you trust me? I mean, I thought you will give me more time?" he said, with an obviously slight nervousness.
"Don't worry. And trust me. I won't let anything happen to you. But you have to trust me on this matter. Tomorrow, you'll be coming with me at the castle. We'll talk to him. The Commander will know what to do, " she utters.
He just nodded, thought not willing to agree with the idea.
They went back and found their friends sitting outside. Upon seeing them back, they stood up immediately as if they are waiting for them.
"What happened there?" Aisel asked, pointing his fingers by the part of the forest where smoke were coming from.
Thankfully, the dragoness' flapping of wings pulled out the fire before it even burns more trees. The fire went out just like that because of how strong the wind is.
"It was the dragon," she answered.
"Again? Why is it striking right now?" Dio asked .
"Just take a rest for now. Grey and I will go to the castle tomorrow early in the morning."
"Captain. Are you sure you can handle it?" asked the vice - captain , somehow worried.
"Everything is okay. I just need you to make everything is calm. There's nothing to be worried about, " the Captain of the first squad assured.
The Vice - Captain seriously looked at the Captain. After seconds , he stood straight and salute to the captain.
"I will, Captain," he saluted.
The captain went inside the house.
"Okay. Your captain said you should rest now. You still need to talk to the Commander early in the morning. That means this matter is serious kids. You need rest, " Habeck echoed what the captain said earlier.
Everyone helped in cleaning up the yard before following inside. Everyone was sober up by that.
He almost could not sleep thinking about what could he answer for anything the Commander will ask. He don't want to look as a traitor. He could give his trust to Amber, even for little. But for that Commander, he thought not. Never in his mind.
"Coffee everyone," Habeck offered them to heal some hang overs.
But for him, he thought this coffee could give him more nervousness.
"Are you okay, Gray?" Dio asked and gave him a nudge.
"Yeah? Yeah! I'm okay," he answered.
The Captain and him traveled in a carriage to the castle.
They were greeted by several guards. "Captain, the Commander is waiting for you at the veranda, " they told them.
They arrived at the veranda. And found the Commander waiting for them. His armor were not worn. It lessen his intimidating look but did not lessen the nervousness Grey was feeling.
The Captain stop by a few meters away to the Commander.
"Commander, " the captain salute.
He looked at what she did and followed.
"Captain," he said. His eyes settled on him. "Why don't we talk about your matter with a breakfast."
"Sure, Commander." The captain sat down and so he did.
"So, who is this man with you?" he asked.
Really? Does he not remember him?
"This is Grey, a man you will never expect to meet," Amber introduced him.
