CHAPTER 21
Mission 21 : Choose a Winning Side in order to Survive
"What took you so long?" asked the woman with a long black robe. She was slender and was facing her back against him.
Though she talked in a low voice, her tone resounds impatiently irritated.
Grey had heard this strong voice before.
As soon as she turned around abruptly, the pixies high pitched gasp and sudden ran to disappear from there. It was like they don't want to to appear in front of the woman's eyes.
Of couse. Who would be courageous enough to stare at those fiercely looking eyes that could kill with just a sight. Even him would always flinch at this sight.
It was the dragoness who were standing before him. But she was inx husman form.
She was waiting for him? Is she calling for him? But why?
Is he here to be killed? He wasn't prepare. He got no shield nor wlsword to protect himself.
"Is there anything you need? " he asked. His breathing became a little difficult.
"I am going to ask you again the questions I asked you before." She looked firmly in his eyes, trying to dig what secrets is he keeping. " Who are you ? What is your name? And where are you from? " she asked.
"I - - " he paused when she talked again.
"Don't answer me with the answers you have given me the first time. Because I know you are lying."
"Would you believe me if you didn't even believe me the first time?" he asked.
"Just say it!" she became more impatient than ever.
He took a sigh. If he was a summoned hero, this gorgeous woman was his enemy. Is that why she keeps asking?
"Why? Does it matter who am I or where I am from? I am just a peasant, my lady, " he answered.
Her pretty eyes started to turn feiry red. Her forehead started to pop and a little horn was moving out of it.
She is angry.
"Wu - - wait! " He moved his hand towards her as his foot stepped back.
He did not know why but she also stopped, slightly calmed down.
"Are you going to tell me finally?"
"I - - " he cleared his throat. "First, I wanted to ask what made you think I am not telling the truth?" he asked.
I would be not the best idea to make this woman furious.
"I saw you," she mumbled.
"What? "
"I could not believe when that pixie told me you did manipulate a water element at the fire she caused. She keeps on telling me to follow you. There I caught you use your powers when you saved that human. No one can manipulate elements other that those royals. You can't just be just an ordinary peasant," she said.
"You were following me? " he asked.
Her eyes slightly widened as her lips curved in a funny way.
"I wasn't - - " she stopped. Her face turned back into irritation but her cheeks were burning hot in shade of red.
"You clearly stated earlier that you followed me. " His lips curved in smirk.
She blinked a few times. Her pupils turned back to normal. Is she embarrassed to tell the truth that she feels embarrassed?
That was cute , he thought.
He still have his charm. What can he say? The dragones is still a woman after all.
"You follow ed me," he said.
That made her turned into a dragon instantly.
"You! How dare you?! " she enraged.
Out of fight, he slumped down on the ground. He was about to run when someone helped him to get up. It was Amber, the captain.
She held high her shield clasped on her arm against the dragoness' fire.
"We've meet again," Amber said when the the fire stopped.
"You! Again? " the dragoness said as some of the smoke came out of her mouth.
"Yup. And I have another chance to take your head," Amber confidently stated. "But can I kicked him out of the battle field for a second? I can not fight fairly if I have him. You see, I am not completely sobre because we just had drink. But I think I can fight you," Amber swayed her sword. "Hey you! " she hissed him. " You move out."
"Stupid," the dragoness attack Amber but the captain dodged.
While he moved towards the side, he watched Amber and the dragoness fight. But why does it looks like they weren't real enemies? They were more like sisters or friends that were testing each other's strength.
"How many battles do we have to do? You need to try harder to get my head," the dragoness said.
"Soon, I can have your head. And when that happens, I'll present that to the king," Amber answered.
"You can never defeat me."
"Sure, I will," Amber said as she slashed her sword and the dragon's cheek were slightly bled. " For Enchantria. For the peace of the kingdom. " She was panting.
"Peace, you said? " The dragoness laughed huskily. Her voice changed as she turned in to a dragon. "You will never have peace as long as I'm here. If you want peace, I will have your king's head first."
The dragoness breathed a fire once more. It hit the waterfalls. Now, it turned into a hot spring.
He looked up at the dragoness who was also panting. Is it frustation, he saw in her eyes? Is it sadness? Sorrow?
Why does he feel like somehow she needs someone in her side.
"I will never stop until I kill your king. I will never stop until my last breath. I will never stop even if it would risk my life. This kingdom is supposed to be mine. Enchantria is mine! "
The dragoness breathed fire and Amber shielded herself.
"It will never be yours, " Amber firmly stated l, still panting.
He felt tension starting to build up. Why does he felt torn between two sides?
Grey stood up. If he was a summoned one, he wanted to know who summoned him. Because in order to survive this world, he must be with the real winning side.
