CHAPTER 3 Mission 3: Capture and Slay the Dragon HIS TONGUE WAS a little out on the corner of his lips as he concentrate to carve the last letter, which is letter "N", on the wood wall of his room beside the door. Grey phewed as he wiped his forehead that is starting to get sweaty. He never thought that writing traditionally with that one phrase could be tiring. "Mission: Capture and slay the dragon!" he read it out. He swore to himself he'll do that. He'll definitely do that. Because that could be the way to get himself return back home. He thrusted the knife on the ugly cartooned small dragon beside the words. It wasn't that ugly. At least, it foes look like a dragon to him, with the wings and tail, sharp claws, and pointed set of teeth. He went out his room to ready himself. Today, they will go back to the castle and get ready for their first fight in war to save the kingdom from that outrageous dragon. "Good morning," Dio greeted as he took a sip from his mug. "Goo - - What are you doing here?! " he asked, shocked. He was about to pull his seat on the dining table. Dio was sitting across his father who looked like s**t. He was very different from the old man he fought last night. "Isn't it obvious? I'm fetching you," Dio said. "I thought we'll get back before lunch? Why are you here early this morning?" He just laughed and grabbed the bread on the center table and began munching. "I don't like our breakfast that my mom cooked," Dio said. "What did she cooked?" "Eggs." "Well, that's a pretty decent meal,' he said. "No! You can't understand the feeling that every time I go back home, you see and eat eggs. But I got no choice but to eat it because I love her. And if I don't eat, she'll turn to a monster. She's even scarier than the dragon." He just let Dio talk while he have his breakfast. They arrived at the castle just on time. Actually, they're a bit late for Dio forgot his lunch box his mother prepared for him. He have to go back to get it, and pulled him back too. The army of the kingdom were already lining up, preparing to seek the dragon's head. While the two of them were still busy getting their armor ready. "The line was a complete imbalance. And I see here why." The two of them looked at the door where a dashing gentleman in a shining armor suit was standing. He was wearing metal helmet on his head. That makes him hard to recognize who he was. He can't forget that voice. He was the man who gave him a punch on his first day on that magical kingdom. And that made him realize that he wasn't just dreaming. That all of these were true. His sharp eyes darted towards him. He's with Dio. Why does he only looked at him like he was the only one who is at fault? "What's your name?" "G --grey," he cleared his throat. He never stuttered his whole life. He just have to say his name. Is it because he never used his name for a very long time? "And you?" the man asked his cousin. "Dio, Sir Rojjan," he answered. "Dio and Gugrey. I expect you to be in the line in one minute," Rojjan said and left with his black cape flipped that was clipped on his shoulders. "Why is he like that? And my name is Grey, not Gugrey," he mumbled. "Maybe because he is the general commander of the army. I say he is quite responsible," Dio said as he threw the metal helmet-like to him. "Let's go!" He did not know they'll be in complete armor. Whatever metal was used is pretty heavy for him to carry. He practiced holding a sword but did not practice in a heavy armor. How will he carry those things? They hurriedly lined up to where the men of the kingdom were preparing to march. He did not even catched his breath when Rojjan, the general commander, commanded for them to start their march. They were walking in some heavy marching rhythm. But it seems that his feet could not keep up with that. His feet are heavy and his chest also. He was panting. This body is very weak, he utter in his head. He gets tired easily. It took them an hour or almost two to get on the entrance of a forest, a vast place of century years trees. He couldn't even determine if that forest has even an end. The place was dark and obviously has an evil aura around it. He doesn't know where it came from, but he is hearing such creepy sounds from inside. Above the place was dark clouds filled with rain that they don't know if it will still hold its place. Thunder and lightning were clashing each other like swords of two great warriors. It was middle of the day in the kingdom of Enchantria. The sun is shining but it was unexpected to have a place like that. Enchantria was such a magical and mysterious land. "To live or die. We'll fight 'til our last breath. For Enchantria!" Rojjan shouted as he lead them inside. He wasn't pumped by his speech. Rather, he felt his knees trembling as he carefully step on the twigs scattered on the roots of the tall trees. They were grouped and was deployed separately. Unluckily, he got separated with his cousin. "We'll get out here alive. By the way, these are my parting gift. It will be your lucky charm." Those were his last words and gave him the lunch box his mother made for Dio. Now, he looks funny. An armored warrior holding a sword and a shield with a lunch box tied on his scabbard. His group could hear the wind blewing like a typhoon on top of them. The dragon was big, though he couldn't see it clearly. More than that, they could feel the environment getting hotter and hotter each time. They could hear screams of frightened warriors from afar. He wasn't that frightened, until the shadow of the dragon appeared before them. It was big. No. It was gigantic. He took several steps backward, leaving his groupmates in front of the line. What happened was too fast. A flare of massive fire came before them, burning those men who were standing in front. It was from above. How could he forgot stories about those dragons. They were fire breathing monsters. The men dispersed out of fear. But their body were already caught in fire. Though he couldn't feel his feet, he still managed to step few more steps backwards. He could see them burning. Their skin were slowly melting. They couldn't remove their armor because it was too hot. It was too frightening. To see a live scene of people being tortured by fire to die. That was a total nightmare. His throat went up and down. As he ran away, he wiped the tears on the edge of his eyes. He needs to go home! Whatever they will think about him is not important anymore. He just need to get out of there. As he ran, he began unclasping his armor, leaving his main clothes, sword and shield, and his lucky charm. Now, he feels lighter. He might also end up the same fate as the others if he will not think any solution. He couldn't just die in that land. Not on an stranger land. But fate leaded him to loast his way. He couldn't even see where did they came from. It was like he kept on running in circles. As he was about to loose faith in returning to the castle, and held on to the nearest trunk for support, he stopped upon hearing the same massive wind coming towards him. It might be the dragon's wings again. The dragon was near him. He quickly hide behind the big heart shaped plants. Between the leaves, he can see the dragon just landed on the ground, on the space without too much tall trees. The gigantic dragon was so near. He could see a magical creature that only appeared on books. Now, it appears in front of him. Real. Very real. It got its big wings and long tail. The claws looks sharp and deadly. But what scarier was its face. Long pointed horns, sharp teeth, and fiercely gleaming eyes. Its body was in the darkest shade of green. Unexpectedly, the dragon did not land on its feet but on its whole body. Body that was full of cuts and was bathe in blood. The green grass nearby its feet got stained in red because of that. The dragon looks so weak and fragile at that time. He could defeat it with that state, he thought. If he could slay it, he can make his wish come true. That would be very easy at that time. He let go of the shield and held tightly on his sword with his two hands. Carefully, he ran towards the wounded dragon. He successfully got himself near it. As he raised his sword and was about to swing it to the dragon's neck, it suddenly glowed brightly. The body of the dragon spread a luminous light that could even blind him for seconds. With that, he did not continue slaying it. He used his hands to hinder the light through his eyes. Slowly, the light went down. He blinked few times to adjust his sight. Then, an unexpected event he came to witness. Slowly, the dragon's body began changing, reshaping. It was shrinking into a human's body, even smaller than his body. His jaw dropped as it turned into a woman. Her hair was a long silky darker than blood shade. She got the prominent nose and pouted curved lips that looks so soft to touch. Though her face was covered in blood stains and wounds, he could still see those lovely features of her face. His eyes moved down to her naked body. She wasn't wearing anything and it made him feel hotter than what he felt earlier. She looks like just around his age. She got the perfect shape of body and a face of a goddess. Though covered in dirts, blood, wounds, and bruises, that can't lessen her beauty. It looks like she is in pain. She was coiled up in that ground. Why didn't anyone told anything about that? The dragon who turned into a woman was too beautiful to slay, to kill, that even the sword he was holding, unconsciously, fell on the ground.
