The poker evening was a success, and became a regular occurrence. I found myself not only learning about Barbara's subtle clues, but those of everyone else around me as well. From little tells, like facial expressions and eye movements, to fidgets, nuances in the way they spoke, and then tells that made more use of my supernatural powers. A tiny bead of sweat on the forehead, irregularities in heartbeat, even a certain scent that was given off when someone was lying or omitting a truth.  It was a useful skill, and helped me to gauge who I could and couldn't trust.
