Kayla's My Mate

1043 Words
Axe, Garsaw's best friend, had not heard from Garsaw for days. Each time he showed up at Garsaw's house, Elaida, Garsaw's mom, always told him that Garsaw had just stepped out. ''Is this some sort of decoy to avoid me because I have eyes for Kayla as well?'' Axe asked himself. He sat alone at the usual spot where he met with Garsaw and a few other friends that were in their crew, hoping every time, that anyone he saw approaching his direction from afar was Garsaw, but it never turned out so. Garsaw had seen Axe come to pay him visit upon visit each and every time his mother told Axe that he was not at home. Garsaw was always inside the house, peeping at Axe and his mom. He saw Axe's face drop any time Elaida gave him a negative response concerning his whereabouts. Now it has started to tell on Garsaw as well. He started to feel lonely and needed to be in the company of his friends. ''I'd just not say anything about the Moon or 'Moon Eyes' or Smirder. I'd just act like nothing happened,'' Garsaw decided, stepping out to look for Axe at the spot he knew he would definitely be at. ''Dude, where the hell in the Kinetic pack have you been for days? Did your mom not tell you that I came asking after you time without number?'' Axe asked Garsaw as soon as he spotted him from afar. Axe's face lit up in relief to be re-united with his friend after a couple of excruciating days of searching for him. ''Hello to you too,'' Garsaw replied with sarcasm. Axe rolled his eyes. ''Don't be corny. I have been looking for you everywhere for days bro, what's up with you getting lost on me like that?'' Axe asked. ''I had something important to handle with my dad, bro. I am the Alpha's son and the next Alpha within a short while, don't you think me qualified to have my hands full with responsibilities that you know nothing about?'' Garsaw asked, oozing out an air of superiority and importance over Axe. ''Oh, so it's like that now, right? You are rubbing it in my face that you are the Alpha's son, and you are more important than I am. I guess I should cower in worship of your presence as the next Alpha in line. I see. Thank the moon you are showing off your true colors before hand.'' Axe ranted. ''Don't take it to heart bro,'' Garsaw replied, chuckling between his words. ''I'm just pulling your legs, it's not that serious. However, I am saying the truth about being busy with my dad,'' Garsaw explained. ''Anyway, have you seen Kayla anywhere around of late?'' Garsaw asked. Axe eyed Garsaw out of the corner of his eye and nodded. ''Yes, I saw her while I was on my way here, and she asked after you too. What do you lot have going on that makes you want at each other pretty desperately?'' Axe asked Garsaw. ''She asked after me, why?'' Garsaw asked Axe back. Axe shrugged. ''How would I know? I am not in her mind. Why are you asking after her then? Since you are not expecting her? You, what do you want from her as well?' Axe asked. ''I want to ask her to be my girlfriend, and mate,'' Garsaw replied abruptly. ''You what?'' Axe asked Garsaw angrily, shifting into his wolf. Garsaw also shifted and displayed his front teeth at Axe when he noticed how angry Axe suddenly became. He heard Axe growl from his guts when he asked for him to repeat what he just said about Kayla. ''You have a problem with that bro?'' Garsaw eventually asked his friend. ''I told you, go after her as well, let's see who she chooses: I'm not stopping you from wooing her for now, but as soon as we become official, you will have to back off,'' he told a wide-eyed Axe. ''Of course she's going to choose you over me,'' Axe whined at his best friend, Garsaw. ''You are the Alpha's son, you are the bloody next Alpha, which she-wolf won't fall into your arms even if they are not outstretched to catch them when they fall?'' Axe ranted. ''This is so unfair. For as long as I have heard about this pack, the Alpha has always been snatching love interests from the ordinary members of the pack, when will this injustice be looked into?'' Axe asked with a sullen tone. ''Dude come on, you sound like a damn wuss,'' Garsaw replied. 'You ought to be my best friend, how can you sound this defeated? I can't even stand you right now honestly. If not that it were you bro, I would have tossed whoever would have played this loser game with me away from my sight a long time ago,'' he added. ''Wait, I thought 'Moon eyes' had to choose a mate for you by all means? How come you are about to ask Kayla to be your mate? Has 'Moon Eyes' visited you? Has she done the ritual?'' Axe asked Garsaw in a more friendly tone. A pang of guilt pierced into Garsaw's chest while he stared Axe in the face, thinking of whether he should go ahead and tell him the lie that was hanging loose from his lips. ''Why do you think I boldly asked after her and said I was going to ask her out?''Garsaw replied. ''Oh for the moon's sake, you should have told me from the onset that the moon had bound both of you. Of course I'm clearly out of the picture now, wow!'' Axe replied, genuinely excited about his friend being bound to a mate. ''Congratulations bro,'' Axe yelped, prancing excitedly around Garsaw. ''Tell me, how was the ritual? Did your eyes hurt? I heard there's this stuff 'Moon Eyes' washes your face with. How does it feel? How did you know it was Kayla the moon chose for you? Did you see her face? Her pretty face in the moon's realm, I can imagine how dazzling she would look even more in that sort of aura,'' Axe ranted excitedly at his best friend.
