Smirder was confused.
As if the wind knew how intense the energy was between them, it blew even harder, so much so that Smirder had to hurry home.
Alone with her thoughts, she tried to decipher the reason Kayla had walked out on her like that.
''Did I do something wrong?'' She asked herself, thinking hard and long back about any incident that might have made Kayla suddenly become upset, yet she couldn't find any.
The heavy downpour of rain that started shortly after, made Smirder's mom wonder if something had gone wrong.
''The moon must be mad at one of us for sending us this sort of harsh weather. It could only mean that something terrible has happened, or is about to happen,'' Smirder's mom commented.
Smirder sat alone, staring into space because nothing made sense to her anymore at that point.
''Are you okay darling? Why do you look so dazed?'' Smirder's mother asked her when she went into the living room to see Smirder staring into thin air.
''Something strange happened today mom. Kayla suddenly walked out on me while we were at the center, and the energy that oozed out of her while she did so...it was as if I had done something terribly wrong to her,'' Smirder explained with concern.
''Mm, I see. Who was around you when this incident happened?'' Smirder's mom asked her.
She knew that it might have to do with the fact that Kayla had perceived Smirder had been allocated a mate by the moon, and the said mate might have been Kayla's crush, so she got upset.
''Just the usual people, mom, nothing more than the normal set of friends that belong to our pack. We were all out playing under the wind when it happened,'' Smirder explained.
''Though her countenance changed a lot after the Alpha's son stared at me briefly. I wonder why he did that anyway. But Kayla got upset after that,'' Smirder explained.
Her mom scoffed.
It became crystal clear to her the reason Kayla was upset.
''Don't take it to heart my dear, she will definitely come around after a while,'' Smirder's mother told her.
''But mom, what did I do to make her so upset all of a sudden? I can't think of anything I would have done against her,'' Smirder complained.
''How would I know, dear? I wasn't there when it happened,'' Smirder's mom replied, giggling in between her words.
''Don't bother your fine self my princess. You just go about your business as you always have, the moon smiling on you is more important than all these other distractions,'' Smirder's mom told her.
Over at Garsaw's house, he was still processing the revelation the moon showed to him.
''How on earth? How the f**k did I get into this confusion? My dad will let go of his being the Alpha soon because of his age, and I will be expected to take up the mantle, and have Smirder by my side as a mate. I will be a laughing stock for crying out loud. I think the moon is wrong. By all means, there has to be an error somewhere. Smirder can't be my mate over Kayla, I don't get it, 'Moon Eyes' didn't make that ritual with the right components, there has to be something missing, for crying out loud, Smirder?'' Garsaw ranted to himself inaudibly.
Thunder and lighting struck heavily, as if to respond to Garsaw's angry thoughts.
He jolted in shock and scurried to be around where his parents were, hoping to get some relief from their presence around him while the rain poured down angrily on the roof of his house.
Garsaw couldn't handle the fact that the energy was heavy while he stayed around his parents. His father especially.
It was as if he knew that Garsaw was trying to resist the moon's choice of a mate for him, the way his dad looked at him from time to time, disapprovingly.
''When will you meet with your Smirder mate son?'' Garsaw's father suddenly asked him.
Garsaw rolled his eyes secretly.
He ran away from his bedroom to find succor with his parents against the turbulent weather, yet they were about to make him more uncomfortable than he already was.
''Dad, 'Moon eyes' just did the ritual very recently. I have not yet had the time to meet with anyone at all, not even my friends, to talk more of my so-called mate. I have never said a word to her in my life. How then could she be my mate? I have a feeling 'Moon eyes' didn't carry out the ritual properly,'' Garsaw replied.
Garsaw's parents turned sharply to look at him.
''You will say no such thing in my house you hideous kid,'' his father barked at him.
''Garsaw, come on, don't say that about the messenger of the moon,'' Garsaw's mom said to him in a disappointed tone.
'It's obvious now why we have this sort of crazy weather upon us. Your thoughts are appalling to the moon, you are the cause of this chaotic weather,'' Garsaw's father, Alpha Jake said, walking away from Garsaw's presence.
Garsaw's eyes popped in disbelief when his dad made the revelation to him.
''Mom, am I really the one? Is it really based on my thoughts that the rain is coming down this heavily on us?'' Garsaw asked.
'Your father is the Alpha, and you are about to take over from him very soon son. If he says you are the reason for the weather, then I should believe that you are indeed. How dare you say that 'Moon eyes' didn't do the ritual properly? Come on Garsaw, you are disappointing me,'' his mother said to him.
''How do you explain it mom? I have never said a word to Smirder in my life. She's not my type. I'd much rather have Kayla as a mate than Smirder. Kayla is more outspoken and will better portray my image perfectly in my absence, not Smirder. Smirder is too much of a weakling for me. There has to be a twist somewhere,'' Garsaw whined.
''The moon has its reason. Don't ever question the moon, my love,'' Garsaw's mother said in a more cheerful tone.
