Garsaw sure could not tell his friends about his recent encounter with 'Moon Eyes', not because of any other reason than the fact that he was ashamed of the mate the moon had chosen for him through the moon goddess.
''Smirder? of all the she-wolves in the pack, Smirder as a mate? The moon really does hate me,'' Garsaw sulked to himself when he eventually woke up from the deep sleep the ritual had put him into.
He avoided his parents when he woke up, especially his father. He knew the next line of action from them was going to be for him to try and bring Smirder over to the house so that they could get acquainted with her and for Garsaw to make his announcement about her being his fated mate and kickstart the relationship.
Smirder, a she-wolf that he had never had need to speak to in his life, how would he face her, how would he face his friends when they asked him what he was doing with her?
''My life is about to be in ruins,'' he muttered while he walked out of the house via the back door.
Alone with his thoughts, Garsaw wondered towards the pack's center.
It was about the same time when Smirder was hanging out with her friends as well. The gust of wind was still aggressive in the air, and made Garsaw wonder why there were so many young wolves in the pack playing, while the weather was as turbulent as it currently was.
''Oh here comes the devilishly handsome Garsaw,'' Kayla, Smirder's friend, yelped when she spotted Garsaw approaching the pack's center from afar.
Smirder kept a straight face while she looked ahead of her to see Garsaw actually approaching the center.
Nothing crossed her mind at that point in time because she was not friends with Garsaw at all, neither was she aware that the moon had selected her to be his mate, so as far as she was concerned, it was just a normal day, seeing Garsaw at the pack as she always did in the past, and not talking to him.
''Kayla, what's up mami?'' Garsaw greeted Smirder's friend, totally ignoring the fact that Smirder was standing there as well.
It was not new to Smirder at all, the way Garsaw currently treated her, it was not new to her so his ignoring her didn't affect her one bit.
''I'm good, why are you out here in this nasty weather? I can't see any of your friends around, so? Are you okay?'' Kayla asked Garsaw.
''I had to leave the house' Garsaw replied.
''I needed some air after having a nasty dream,'' he added.
At this point, Smirder's ears twitched. It was the same reason Garsaw gave for being outside at that time that had made her also leave her house. She had a nasty dream as well.
''Wow, did the moon visit you or what?'' Kayla asked jokingly.
Garsaw laughed and looked at Kayla out of the corner of his eyes.
If only she knew how correct she was. The moon had indeed visited him, and he didn't like the outcome of the visit at all.
''You always got jokes.'' Garsaw told Kayla, eventually turning his eyes to glance at Smirder.
Smirder was not aware just yet that Garsaw was looking at her stylishly.
The only thing that brought her attention back to the moment was when Kayla exclaimed at Garsaw for staring too much at Smirder for the first time ever.
''Wait, did you say you had a bad dream?'' Kayla asked Garsaw, squinting at him suspiciously.
Garsaw shifted his gaze from Smirder, who now had her attention back to the conversation going on in front of her, back to Kayla.
He didn't give any reply to Kayla whatsoever because he thought she might figure out what was going on with him and why he was acting so weird and uncomfortable. After all she had already guessed correctly.
Kayla was the most enlightened female in the Kinetic pack.
She knew about how the moon allocated a mate to the male wolves and how uncomfortable these male wolves suddenly became anytime they had their encounter with 'Moon eyes' - she had older brothers that had experienced the encounter, so it was never new to her when she came across the behavior Garsaw was currently showing.
''I'll see you later Kayla. I have to go inside now. The wind is getting more intense, I wonder what you lot are doing here,'' Garsaw told Kayla in a bid to end the conversation and hurry away from getting caught.
''What in the name of the moon?'' Kayla exclaimed after Garsaw left.
Her eyes shining bright while she stared at Garsaw making away from her and Smirder back to his house.
''Is everything okay?'' Smirder asked her friend.
Kayla looked at Smirder with shock and blinked numerous times. She understood what was going on with Garsaw, she knew that he had found his mate in Smirder.
Garsaw was a stud in the Kinetic pack. The most handsome young male and unmated wolf. Every she-wolf wished and hoped that their lot would be cast on him to be their mate when the time was right, including Kayla.
She, as a matter of fact, was certain that she would end up being Garsaw's mate, because if the rituals were to be handled by mortals, Kayla was the only female that matched up with Garsaw's looks and energy.
She was the most vocal young she-wolf and the one every male admired, including some old wolves.
She was pretty and had the energy of an Alpha, but on the contrary, the moon thought differently.
''The moon is on drugs, I guarantee that for sure,'' Kayla said while she started to walk out on Smirder.
''Kayla, where are you going to? Kayla!'' Smirder called on her friend, confused as to what the sudden change in disposition was about. But Kayla didn't look back to acknowledge Smirder's call.
Jealousy had enveloped her, and she doubted that there was any going back to her current state of mind.
