the canopy of trees blocked the sun all but, the weakest of rays of light from penetrating the depths of the forest. a hooded figure moved among the darkness of the trees and stopped when it came across the ruins of an old castle. the ruins rose before the hooded stranger like a giant reaching for the sky.
the hooded figure lowered its hood; revealing a young girl that showed no emotion. she entered the old castle and went down the stairs. she didn't fear the darkness that shallower her. she walked down the tunnel that was lit by candlelight. the flames of the candles danced in the tunnel as the girl walked; creating shadows that would frighten anyone else from daring to enter. the tunnel ended, she came to a room lit by candlelight. in the center of the room, there was a tall mirror. the oak was carved and was draped in silk and dust. the young girl knelt in front of the mirror.
"my queen, I bring you news," stated the young girl. the mirror began to fog up. when the fog cleared, the image of a woman dressed in a long, crimson red dress appeared.
"Kasumi, it is good to see my dear," responded the woman, "what is your report."
"my queen, it is Ren," responded Kasumi, "He has gone to the other world to search for them. my enforcers tell me he has made contact with four young girls."
" Are you telling me he has found the dragon brats," the queen demanded.
"it may or may not be them," answered Kasumi, "but I didn't want to take take the chance."
" It was good of you to tell me," stated the queen smiling, "this must be taken care of if it is them. exterminate them, just the be safe."
"Understood my queen," responded Kasumi, "next time I report to you, they will be dead."
the image of the queen faded from the mirror. Kasumi rose to her feet. she lifted her right hand in front of the mirror. "Beast I summon thee," Kasumi yelled. a bright light came from the mirror. when the light faded away, a giant two-headed wolf stood in front of Kasumi. "go to the other world. destroy the Resistance captain and anyone you see with him." the feast howled with compliance and ran out of the room and into the dark of the forest to carry out its master's will.

the rest of the school day went by fast. Kera and Ren walked out of the front doors of the school where they met the other girls.
"Don't you two look cute together," said Sam.
Kera's face turned red, "Sam!"
"what," asked Sam, "I'm just stating the obvious."
"so, what kind of music do you play," asked Ren, changing the subject.
"I guess you could describe it as fairy tales with a modern twist," responded hope, "come on, Sam's house is this way."
the five of them walked until they came to Sam's house. it was a two-story yellow house covered in vines. Sam opened the garage and revealed their equipment: a set of purple drums, a white guitar, a keyboard, and a microphone in the center. They all took their places; Koma on the keyboard, hope on guitar, Sam on the drums. Kera cleared a space on the old leather sofa that was along the left wall.
"here, you can sit there," Kera explained.
"thank you," Ren said sitting down. Kera went to walk away but Ren grabbed her hand before she could. he gently raised it to his lips and kissed her hand. Kera's face turned bright red. Ren released her hand and Kera walked away. she stepped up to the microphone. Kera started playing, hope and Sam chimed in and Kera began to sing.
"Time may go on,
and you may lose your memory,
it's okay cause,
I won't forget you.
I remember the first time,
that I say you,
you were standing in the rain,
protecting me from the darkness,
you said you'd always be there
but one day you started to fade away
time may go on,
and you may lose your memory,
it's okay cause,
I won't forget you."
the song ended with Koma on the piano. the four of them turned to Ren. "Well, what do you think," asked Sam.
"That was amazing, " Ren answered, "Where did you come up with that?"
"actually, Kera wrote it," added Koma, "She writes most of our songs."
"Really, what inspired you to write that," asked Ren looking at Kera.
"It may sound weird, but a dream I keep having gave me the idea," explained Kera.
"Well your an amazing writer," said Ren as he looked at his watch. It read 4:15. "Hey I got to go to the library so I can work on my report," stated Ren as he went to leave.
"Ren, the report isn't due until next Friday," commented Sam.
"Well, I like to get to get things done before I forget to do them," responded Ren.
Sam turned to Kera and singled her to go with him. "You know Ren, I was about to do the same thing," Kera said, blushing red, "Why don't we go together?"
"that works out perfect," Ren said suddenly, "I really don't know my way around here yet, "Ren blushed. Kera and the other laughed. Ren and Kera left together for the library.
It took them about ten minutes to get to the library from Sam's house. They found an unused table and started on their reports. For their reports, they had to do an independent study on historical mysteries. Ren chose James town. the town in the united states that the citizens vanished in a single light. Kera chose to do the unsolved case of Atlantis. it is told that the gods were jealous of the city and thus sunk it to the bottom of the ocean. no one knows of its location or even if the city is real. They finished their research and started writing. yet, they couldn't finish it because it was closing. Ren and Kera cleaned up, put their books away, and left the library.
"era, where do you live," asked Ren, "If you live close by, I could walk you home."
"I live six blocks away on Elm Street," responded Kera.
Ren started to laugh, "are you serious? I live on Elm Street. "
"Don't tell me you're my new neighbor," Kera asked," I'll take your offer."
Ren and Kera started to walk down the street but, didn't get far when they heard a deep growl behind them. Ren and Kera stopped dead in their tracks and turned around. A giant two-headed wolf with glowing yellow eyes was behind them. the wolf readied its position and pounced. Kera pushed Ren and leaped out of the way. blood dripped from Kera's arm; it was slashed from the wolf's attack.
"Are you okay, " Kera asked Ren.
"I'm fine," responded Ren. "but you don't look the same."
"I've had worse," answered Kera, "I think." she stood up. a jolt the pain came down her arm. it made her collapsed to her knees. Kera had a flashback. "Something like this a happened before, but where," Kera thought.
"Kera goes hide," said Ren as he stood up, " I"ll take care of this." Ren stood in front of Kera and clapped his hands together, a glow of light came out of his hands. the glow of light turned bright red, making it look like fire. The red glow changed form and turned onto a crimson sword. " Scared Flame of God; Hein," stated Ren.
"that sword, I've seen it before," exclaimed Kera.
Ren smiled, "I know.
"huh," questioned Kera.
Ren ran forward, jumped, and lunged his sword at the beast but, it dodged. the beast spun around and whipped its tail at him too quickly for him to doge. Ren was sent flying and his back hit a light post hard. Shattered glass fell on him cutting the right side of his face and arm. He slowly stood up, blood dripped from his wounds, blinding his right eye.
"Ren," Kera yelled.
"don't worry," Ren said with a smile.
Kera could tell he wasn't alright. Ren was in no shaped to fight. he was barely able to stay on his feet. Ren charged at the beast and cut its front left leg. the headed wolf howled in pain and anger. it turned its right head and got a hold of Ren by the right shoulder. the wolf sank its fangs into him. he screamed in pain. the beast picked him up and sent him flying. he landed in the street. Ren's head hit the ground hard. A puddle of blood spud out of him. Ren tried to get up but, he was losing too much blood.
Kera ran forward him, Ren," Kera choked out as tears started to run down her face. Kera helped him roll onto his back.
Ren wiped tears from her face and caressed her cheek"I promised myself that I would never let tears fall from your eyes ever again. I swore I would protect you," Ren said looking up at Kera with a smile on his face.
a giant stomp came from behind Kera; she slowly turned her head. " what am I going to do," Kera yelled mentally, "It's my fault Ren is so banged up. I have to protect him, what can I do!"
"Run," Ren said suddenly," I'll be fine but, you need to get out of here."
"But Ren," Kera answered."
"don't worry about me, "stated Ren, " I won't die; not know that I've found you."
"what do you mean" asked Kera.
"we'll talk later," rem said, "I'll tell you everything; the whole story," he got to his knees and used his sword to slowly stand but, he couldn't.
"I can't let him," Kera yelled mentally, "I can't let Ren die!" Kera turned and faced the wolf. she felt a surge of energy come from within her. the wind encircled her like a tornado.
"no way," Ren said, "this can't be what I think it is."
the wolf charged. "Winds of protection," Kera yelled.
the encircling winds around her formed an indestructible wall. the beast it the wall of wind and was sent flying. it stood up and howled in pain. the beast turned and ran into the darkness. the wall of wind faded away. Kera collapsed to her knees. she felt weak and then everything went black.
