Chapter 1
It's 2:48 PM.
Javan checked his wristwatch again. Still no sign of her.
He pulled out his phone and looked once more at the photo her father had sent him. He was just the driver hired to pick up the man's daughter - nothing more. Still, he found himself studying the picture longer than he meant to. She was striking, with sharp features and confident eyes, the kind of girl who seemed used to the world bending to her will.
He looked up just as she approached, her walk assured, her expression cool and appraising.
And something in his chest simply stopped.
It made no sense. He had seen her photo a dozen times, and nothing had prepared him for this. The sounds of the street faded, and for one suspended second there was only her, as though some part of him had recognized her before his mind could catch up.
"Are you Javan?" she asked, stopping in front of him.
It took him a moment to find his voice. "Yes. Sera?"
She arched an eyebrow. "And why aren't you opening the door for me? Should I do it myself?"
He stepped forward at once and opened it, already sensing she'd be difficult to deal with . She got in without a word of thanks.
"Scumbag," she muttered.
"I heard that," he said evenly, though his pulse was anything but.
She rolled her eyes, irritated. What she didn't say was that her own heart had skipped when she first looked at him, and she hated it for doing so.
He pulled away slowly, trying to let her settle in the way her father had asked. He had mentioned she liked watching the scenery, the buildings and trees drifting past.
"Is this your first time driving?" she snapped.
"No," he replied.
"Then why are you crawling like a sloth?"
"You're not wearing your seatbelt."
"Shut up," she hissed. "I can't believe Dad sent someone like you."
He sighed and let it go.
"What are you doing?" she shouted. "Drive faster now!"
Since that was what she wanted, he obliged, shifting gears and picking up speed. Too much speed. The city blurred past the windows and her pulse spiked. "Are you trying to kill us?" she snapped. "Slow down!"
"I can't," he said, a smirk tugging at his mouth.
She wanted to slap that smirk off his infuriatingly handsome face.
"Stop the car, or... "
"Or what?" he asked, eyes on the road.
"I'll have my dad fire you!"
He finally looked at her. "Only if you make it home in one piece."
A chill ran through her. "Stop the car! Stop it right now!"
He hit the brakes hard. Her head snapped forward, hair falling across her face as she struck the window. She gasped and turned toward him - then froze.
He was close. Too close. His grey eyes locked on her brown ones, and in that moment it was no longer a stranger looking back at her. It felt like something she had been waiting for without knowing it. Her gaze slipped to his nose, then his mouth.
*He looks like something out of a myth,* she thought, throat tightening. *And I think I'm already falling.*
"Done staring?" he asked, his voice low and amused.
Her breath caught. "I don't know what you mean."
He chuckled. "Then why'd you tell me to stop?"
His eyes on her as he ran his tongue slowly over his lower lip. Her heart stumbled, and she caught herself biting her own.
"I..... you were driving too fast," she stammered.
He laughed under his breath, unbothered on the surface, hands steady on the wheel as he pulled back onto the road, though he knew he'd just felt the ground shift beneath him. She turned away sharply, nearly wrenching her neck. Her father knew exactly how she reacted to good-looking men and he'd sent this one anyway. It was probably the same reason she'd fallen for her boyfriend Edward, though he was nothing compared to whatever *this* was. Whatever it was, she had never felt it with anyone, not even Edward, and that terrified her.
She put her headphones in and shut her eyes, trying to think about anything except him or what is going on between her legs.
She dozed off after a while then felt a hand sliding inside her dress and she lift her hips up to welcome the hand. She felt her pant being shifted and she moaned with her eyes still closed. The hand rubbed her folds and she grab the hand pushing it further into her while she moved her hips to accompany it, moaning loudly.
A sharp knock on the window pulled her back to reality and her eyes flew open.
