After losing both her parents to the cruel hands of death, Celeste Everett thought she had already experienced the worst kind of pain.

She was wrong.

The day she found her boyfriend in bed with her own sister, the two people she trusted most betrayed her in the cruelest way possible.

Determined to leave the past behind, Celeste never expected to cross paths with Lucas Blackwood, the cold and domineering heir to Evermont Holdings.

Lucas has everything a man could want: wealth, power, and a future as the next CEO of his father's empire.

But when his father announces that the first son to get married will inherit the company, Lucas knows he can't afford to lose.

And somehow, he chooses Celeste.

A marriage neither of them planned.

A man she never wanted to trust.

And feelings she never expected to develop.

But the closer Celeste gets to Lucas, the more she realizes there are secrets surrounding his family, her past, and the people they thought they knew.

What began as a simple arrangement slowly turns into something far more complicated.

Because the closer she gets to Lucas, the harder it becomes to tell where the arrangement ends and his obsession begins.

Celeste thought she was running from her past.

She never imagined it would lead her straight to him

Episode one:Betrayed
CHAPTER ONE: Betrayed CELESTE POV “f**k,” I cursed under my breath as my keys fell to the floor. I hastily picked them up and inserted one into the keyhole. “Argh,” I groaned when it wouldn't budge. I doubted Caleb had fixed it. I immediately rushed to the back door and found it wide open. “That’s strange,” I thought to myself as I ran inside, straight to our room. I slowly tiptoed toward the door. As I came closer, the sounds grew louder. As I approached the door, I could hear low moaning sounds. My heart nearly stopped. Tears started welling up in my eyes as I pushed the door open and saw Caleb in bed with a girl with blonde hair. “What the hell is going on here?” I screamed in shock. Caleb immediately scrambled away from the girl, and I saw her face clearly. It was Abercie. My sister. The girl I had grown up with was in bed with my boyfriend, the man I had loved for five years. I tasted bile in my mouth. The air felt suffocating, filled with the smell of sweat and s*x. I looked at Abercie, and all I could see was satisfaction in her eyes. She was clearly relishing the moment as she looked at me with pleasure. My eyes drifted over to Caleb, who was desperately trying to cover himself. “It’s not what you think, babe. It’s just a one-time thing,” Caleb said as he rushed toward me. As I felt his hands on my skin, disgust crept into me. All of a sudden, his touch felt foreign. I shook his hands off my body and faced Abercie. “I can’t believe this, Aber. You are sleeping with my boyfriend, MY BOYFRIEND, ABER! Why would you do that to me?” I said loudly. “Tsk.” She snorted back at me. “It’s not my fault that Caleb doesn’t find you attractive anymore,” she said scornfully. “No man would ever want someone like you. You don’t even have anything in you to keep a man. Caleb loves me now, and me only,” she continued with joy in her voice. Everything suddenly seemed blurry to me. The man I had loved from the beginning, cherished, and cared for was in bed with my sister. It felt as if my whole world had come crumbling down. “Ahhhhhhh!” I screamed in pain, drowning out Caleb’s countless pleas. “No, this can’t be happening.” Caleb rushed to hold me, but I pushed him to the ground and ran out of the room, through the corridor, then into the parlour and outside onto the wide expanse of the road. I kept running without stopping to catch my breath until I reached a park. I fell to the ground, shaking. Then I felt for my phone in my pocket and dialled Sylvia’s number. She was in town for a business meeting, so I knew she would pick up. “Hey, girl,” I heard her high-pitched voice on the other end of the phone. “My location is on. Please come pick me up,” I said softly as I faded into the darkness. ******************* “Argh.” I opened my eyes to bright light peeping through the window. My head was banging, and my face felt so swollen. I wondered how long I had been out for. I stood up from the bed and looked around. I recognised the surroundings. It was Sylvia’s bedroom. There were posters of Larky Jones all over her wall, the singer she had been obsessed with for so long. I got out of her bed grudgingly. My body ached. I must have run for so long. I staggered to the mirror to get a full view of myself. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My long blonde hair was tangled and looked so bushy. My skin was paler than usual, and it felt painful to touch. I was still inspecting myself when the bedroom door flew open. “You’re awake, finally. You had me so scared,” Sylvia said in her high-pitched voice. “What are you doing over there? Come, you need to rest.” She guided me back to the bed. “How are you feeling now?” she asked me. I couldn’t say a word. My lips were quivering. Anytime I remembered what had happened, a wave of sadness hit me. I felt tears well up in my eyes. They stung as they came in contact with my skin. “It’s alright, girl. You can tell me when you’re ready,” she said as she hugged me. A bit of peace crept into my heart. I really needed that hug. I held her tightly and cried my heart out. I didn't want to remember anything again. It hurt so much. Why couldn’t the pain just go away? I sobbed so much that I soaked Sylvia’s clothes. I let go of her and let out a free chuckle. “He cheated on me with Aber,” I finally told her what had happened and how I found them together. Her reaction to it all wasn’t what I was expecting. I looked into her eyes and saw guilt in them. “Sylvia, did you know about this too?” I asked her frantically. She didn’t reply immediately, but her face had all the answers I needed. “I didn’t want you to be hurt. That’s why I kept it away from you. They have been together for long. Aber even got pregnant for him once, but they aborted the baby,” Sylvia said, her voice shaking. It was as if I was going through the same ordeal I had experienced the night before. I gripped Sylvia tightly, and my head started beating with renewed wave of energy. I thought of Caleb. The man who had been by my side when I was going through depression after my parents’ accident. The man who had loved me despite my sad situation. The man who had never once gotten tired of consoling me and helping me regain my happiness. The man who had promised to love me and agreed to wait for me until marriage before we could have s*x. All those memories suddenly felt like pain. How could he sleep with another woman? Of all people, my sister. I slipped into oblivion. The world around me faded into a distant blur as Sylvia’s frantic voice called my name. I could feel her shaking me, desperately trying to pull me back, but her voice grew fainter and fainter until everything disappeared into darkness
