Our first kiss
London, England. 2023
Jake looks out from the car window, lost in the beauty of the streets of London, as his driver drives him to his executive airport.
"Sir, we have arrived." Says the driver.
Jake walks out of the car and climbs the stairs into his private jet; he sits down and buckles his seat belt while the pilot announces take-off.
When the plane is stable, the flight attendant walks up to Jake and asks with a smile.
"Can I get anything for you, Mr Williams?"
"Yes, a bottle of sparkling water, please," Jake replies.
"Ok, sir, I will return with it shortly." The flight attendant says as she leaves to get the water.
Jake leans back on his seat and focuses on the plane's window, fixating on the clouds. He gets lost in his thoughts, thinking about his past with Kelly.
Silicon Valley, USA. 2013
It was a cloudy day; the robin on the apple tree was singing, and a gentle breeze blew over the grass in the field. Jake glanced at Kelly's face about every twenty seconds as they munched on the best tacos in Silicon Valley while sitting under the apple tree. Kelly enjoyed the tacos like she hadn't eaten for a day: it was her first day having such junk. She mumbled with her mouth filled with food.
"This is the best food I have ever had."
Jake stopped eating and stared at her as she turned and said with a dashing smile.
"What?"
Jake smiled back at her, and he replied,
"You got some sour cream on your face."
Kelly rubbed her wrists across her mouth, wiping away most of the sour cream. "Did I get all of it?"
Jake stretched his right hand out with his thumb up to wipe some sour cream left off her chin, "You got a little of it here..."
Jake froze with his thumb on her chin, about to wipe away the little sour cream left on her chin; both of their eyes met as Jake stared deep into her piercing blue eyes.
"Is there more...?" Kelly tried asking as Jake interrupted her with his calm and deep husky voice, saying,
"You have beautiful eyes."
With a low, sweet and gentle voice, Kelly responded,
"Thank you."
Kelly leaned in, slowly and gently shot her eyes closed, reaching for a kiss with her red-ruby lips slightly opened. Jake also leaned in, their lips touching as they shared a ten-second romantic kiss.
They opened their eyes with their forehead touching and Jake's right hand on Kelly's left chin. Jake loosely bit his lower lip, and with a dashing smile, he said,
"I love you, Kelly Anderson."
Kelly looked into Jake's Hazel eyes, slowly licked her lower lip,
"I love you more, Jay."
They giggled, and Kelly rested her head on Jake's shoulder while she continued eating her tacos. With a smile of accomplishment, Jake was happy he had the daughter of Mr Anderson, one of the wealthiest billionaires in Silicon Valley, Kelly Anderson, resting on his shoulder.
Kelly has always had a soft heart for others and wants to bring out the best in them; she loves "family". She's her father's favourite due to her caring behaviour and how much she looked like his late wife, Kelly's mother. Kelly has always been a sucker for adventure, trying out new things, and Jake coming from a different world from hers was a big green flag for her, as he often introduced her to his world. For someone like Kelly, who hasn't had the chance to go out to experience the world around her because her father made sure they had everything within their reach at home, the furthest they go is only for private executive vacations due to his status and security reasons; she always loved sneaking out with Jake to explore the poor streets of Silicon Valley and other neighbouring cities, trying out junk foods—which she never knew she had a craving for till Jake took her to try the best tacos in town.
After a few hours, Jake sat under the apple tree, leaning his back on the tree trunk with Kelly on his lap, his hands wrapped around her waist and the back of her head resting on Jake's chest while they watched the beautiful green field with different colourful flowers scattered around it.
Kelly kept pointing at different flowers, telling Jake about them while they giggled. Lucas walked out from behind the tree and jokingly asked,
"What are you two love birds up to?"
Jake and Kelly looked up immediately and laughed softly.
"We didn't see you coming; where have you been all day?" Jake asked.
"I was at the Anderson's company shareholders meeting with my dad and Mr Anderson. We just returned, and the house was empty, so I figured you guys must probably be here." Lucas responded.
Jake and Kelly stood up and hugged each other as Lucas rolled his eyeballs over his head, claiming to be bored with Jake and Kelly's romance.
Lucas is the only child of one of the top billionaires in Silicon Valley, Mr Miller. Lucas is a family friend to The Anderson family and Jake's best friend.
Lucas is Kelly's childhood friend and had always had feelings for Kelly; he once asked Kelly out, but she turned him down, telling him she viewed him as a friend and brother; it hit Lucas hard, but he couldn't force her to fall in love with him.
With a broad smile, Kelly waved Jake goodbye and said, "Thanks for the tacos."
Jake smiled back at her. He removed his cowboy hat, placed it on his chest, and waved back at her, "Always my pleasure."
"See you around, Jake," Lucas said as he walked away towards Mr Anderson's mansion with Kelly. Kelly raced Lucas to the mansion, and they laughed while running.
Later that evening, the door creaked as Jake opened it and walked into the cabin where he lived with his father at Mr Anderson's Estate.
"where have you been, son?" Jake's father asked him, expressing how worried he was.
"I was in the field...with Kelly," Jake responded sadly.
Jake's father was quiet for a few seconds as he turned his back to him, picked up two plates from the counter, and gently dropped them on the table with a bowl of food.
"I told you to keep your distance from those rich kids, Jacob... You are not their kind... Her dad is our boss! Keep your distance from her before I lose my job here." Jake's father raises his voice as he warns Jake.
"But Kelly is different, and I lo..." Jake's voice got slightly higher as he tried to defend Kelly, but his father cut him off before he could tell him he was in love with Kelly.
"What! Do you think the daughter of one of the wealthiest billionaires in Silicon Valley would love someone like you? You are her father's gardener's son... She's just having fun with you, and when she's done, she will end up with someone in her class."
Jake's father looked at Jake right in his eyes with petty eyes as he stepped closer to him and placed his hand on his shoulder facing him; in a calm voice, he said,
"You are all I have now that your mom has passed away. I am doing my best so we can have a life. It might not be the best life, but it's something."
"Now sit down; let's eat." Jake's father walked to the table, pulled out a seat and sat down.
Jake looked into the bowl of food with mashed potatoes.
"I am not hungry," Jake said calmly, disappointed at the food and annoyed at what his father said as he walked towards his room.
Jake was just seventeen when he lost his mother and moved in with his father at Mr Anderson's Estate. He is his father's only child. He just turned nineteen and is out of high school but isn't in college because of their financial situation.
In the plane. 2023
"Sir, here's your water." The flight attendant says as she places the tray with a bottle of sparkling water and a glass down. She pours the water into the glass.
Jake quickly turns from the window and faces her as if he's just been pulled back from a different dimension. He's mute for a few seconds, looking at the flight attendant.
"Thank you." Says Jake.
The flight attendant smiles and walks away. Jake picks up the glass of water and takes a sip.
Jake returns to his position of thought and dives back into his thoughts.
