1- Who is Mackenzie
I looked around the room that I was in, silently analyzing everyone. I was at The Underground, the best illegal fighting club in the world. Only the best of the best can get into the club yet alone be a fighter in it. You have to get special permission from the owner to even step into the ring.     I am currently and probably always will be the only woman in this place. Of course nobody knew about me being a female at first, but after two years fighting here I decided I would be who I truly am.     "Gentlemen, we have a SPECIAL fight going down in just five minutes! Place your bets now or forever regret not betting on this EPIC battle!" The announcer said in the middle of the ring.     I walked to the right side of the ring and looked at my opponent on the left. He was wearing boxing shorts and had a few tattoos on his arms reaching up to his neck. Muscles running from his calfs to his shoulders screaming bad news.     On the other hand you have me, a thin girl with a toned stomach, nice ass and big boobs. Sure I don't look like much but everyone knows my fighting name. Whether they recognize that I am female or not is on them.     "You know the drill people. Their names will not be mentioned until the end of the betting period. You have to be familiar with all our fighters, there will be no hints on the bets."      The announcer winks at me knowing damn well I will get most of the money. Everyone may know my name, but unless they are here on my fight days they don't know my face. s**t I am getting weird looks just by standing here in the ring. f*****g sexist assholes, I will show them who Dark Phoenix is.     After waiting around for a few minutes the announcer starts talking again. "Alright my dudes the money has been collected so I will now announce the fighters.... To my right we have Destroyer! *Loud whistles* And to my left we have Dark Phoenix!! *Gasps and applause*"     As soon as the announcer left the ring we got into our fighting stances, waiting for the other to make the first move. I slowly circled Destroyer as he analyzed me, looking for a weakness just like what I was doing to him. He brought a fist back, leaving one in front of his face. He couldn't see me because he was too busy trying to protect himself, even though I wasn't attacking him.     I swiftly moved to the left and kicked his ribs as fast as I could so he couldn't catch my foot. He was startled at first before he turned and used his leg to sweep my feet out from underneath me. I fell onto the hard floor and he jumped onto me, punching me in the face. I swiftly used my knee to hit his stomach, making his stop punching my face long enough to connect my fist to his nose. I could hear it break but he didn't flinch and was about to punch my face until I moved at the last second. He clenched his jaw as he felt his hand hit the concrete where my head was a millisecond ago.     I gripped his hair and brought his head to mine, forcing him to head-but me. He was taken aback and touched his forehead from the pain. Taking it to my advantage, I punched him in the face again and moved to get on top of him.     I dug one of my knees into his stomach as I used my left palm to hold his head still. Bringing my right fist to his face multiple times before he punched my jaw causing me to roll off of him. I jumped onto my feet as he started to stand, stumbling a little bit. I quickly did a round house kick and knocked him out before he could steady himself again.     The crowd cheered as the announcer started the countdown even though EVERYONE knew he wasn't going to get up anytime soon. Although people weren't happy about losing their money, they did enjoy watching us fight and getting a good buzz while it happened.     "Go to the VIP booth, boss wants to talk to you." The announcer told me as he handed me well over 20 grand.     I left the ring and took the stairs up to the VIP area on the second floor. I opened the glass door and sat down on the sofa near the window. Grabbing my phone off the table I read the text that Sam sent me.     'I love you so much Mac, we all do. We have a shipment coming in today and Boss wants the three of us to take care of it. We will be home late tonight, sorry we won't make it for your Birthday dinner. We will make it up to you tomorrow Three Months Later     I walked into the meeting room and sat down in the second seat, the one next to where Tommy was going to be sitting. There were fifteen other chairs, only the best of the best can sit in them and I made it here in just under three months. Impressive if you ask me.     Honestly, out of the people sitting here I only knew one. Louis Xander Clark, Sam's best friend. It broke my heart seeing him here, I haven't seen him since the funeral and I never wanted to see him again. Nobody here knows that though, s**t the only person that knows my weaknesses is Tommy. There used to be four people but the other three? They died ten months ago, well ten months two weeks and four days to be exact.     I felt someone pat my shoulder and looked over at who it was. Good ole Tommy in a nice suit and sneakers. That's the signature look for our gang though. Always wearing nice clothes with running shoes just in case we come across an enemy and need to run.     "Alright guys, I have called this meeting to discuss our next mission. Hopefully you all remember the situation that happened a little over ten months ago. We are going to send someone into the gang that killed the people that played a crucial role in our personal life and gang." Tommy glanced over at me before he continued.     "I want to send in Miss Lee." Everyone gasped and my jaw literally dropped.     "Are you insane?! Her family got killed because of them, what makes you think they don't know about her?!"     "Should we really send in a female?"     "How do you know they won't suspect anything?"         "Listen guys I know you don't completely understand her. She is different from her family and I know that for a fact. She can do this, just listen to her and I am sure you will be reassured that I am making the right decision." Tommy said sternly and looked at each of the men.     After a moment of silence he leaned over and whispered to me. "Tell them about your time in the military and as a bodyguard. Also mention your illegal fighting name at the very end." He gently kissed my cheek before nudging me to stand up and speak.     I slowly stood up and looked at all the guys at the table, purposely skipping over Louis. I took a deep breath before I began to speak, feeling my mouth going dry.     "Look, I know you don't trust me because I was never fully committed to the gang but I was busy doing under cover work for my parents and Tom. I was in the SEAL program along with the Corps for as long as you guys needed me to be a mole. I switched to the f*****g secret service so I could get to the president, taking down the gang threatening him. Not to mention that I am a goddamn Dark World fighter so try me.         I am f*****g made for this job ESPECIALLY because this bastard killed my entire family. If you want to argue about it then fight me in the f*****g ring and beat me for this spot. Dark Phoenix is my name if you want to show up you assholes."      I sat back down next to Tommy and he just smiled at me. His fault for making me talk to these sexist bitches. Especially because they brought my families murder into this.      "Alright well, meeting adjured. Mackenzie if you would stay for a minute I will go over the details with you."      Everyone stood up and left quietly, clearly shocked at my outburst. As soon as the door shut Tommy sat on the desk and started to laugh. I just stared at him like he was the biggest i***t in the world -which he is- and waited for him to shut up.     "Come on Kenzie that was funny. You know the only reason you were pissed is because of their questions and Louis being in the same room as you. You need to block everyone out. The only person allowed to get to you is me." He crossed his arms, still smiling like a fool.     "The only reason I listen to them is because my father respected them, it's hard to see why." I huffed and rolled my eyes.     "But you will still only let me get to you right? You will block out everyone else while you are undercover?" He looked at me with an eyebrow raised clearly giving me the 'no bullshit allowed' look.     "I will only let you, my amazing boyfriend, get to me. Besides you are the only person I care about." I shrugged my shoulders to show him that I am bored with the topic.     "Look Aaron is no joke. His gang is hard to get into so you have to do it as The Underground fighter and not my sexy assassin. If you mess up just once he will kill you, and if he does I don't know what I will do." He gave me his best puppy eyes and pouted his lip.     "I'm not getting this job because I am your girlfriend?"     "Baby girl, you know better than anyone that you deserve this job. You have been training longer than I have. I might be The Boss but I am also your childhood friend and boyfriend. If I didn't think you could do it I wouldn't risk sending you." He held my hand and squeezed it gently causing me to roll my eyes.     "Fine but if your dad finds out that you sent me on a death mission he will kill you."     "Yeah I know, but I don't trust anyone else with this job. You were made for this baby. This is what your parents trained you for. You will be the one to bring down your parents killers and the rest of us will kill the entire gang." Tommy kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around me.      "Hey Tom I need you for a minute." Falcon entered the meeting room and looked at us. "Oh, hey Mackenzie." He smiled at me and bowed a bit.     "Hey Falcon, we were just talking about my next assignment. Apparently I am leaving soon." Falcon walked over to us and looked at we with his green-blue eyes.     "Are you worried? I know my son chose you for a good reason but they were skilled enough to get to your family."      "I'm not worried. The only reason they even got close to my family was because they f*****g highjacked the shipment and killed them as soon as they opened up the door. Now it's their turn to get torn apart, ripped completely from what they love. They will pay for what they did to us." I stated coldly and glared out the window.     "Yes he will, and if you need back-up I will be there in the blink of an eye. You can hack and encrypt systems faster than anyone so we should be able to talk every night without anyone knowing."      "Alright, I will send you the details Mackenzie, I have a fake ID and everything waiting for you in my office. But Tom I really need to talk to you. It's about the THING you wanted." Falcon gave him 'the look' and walked out of the meeting room.     "Alright baby, I will catch up to you later. Please train today so you are ready to leave in two days." Tommy kissed my lips then left the office.     Guess I will have to get laid today and tomorrow so I can go a while without him. I thought to myself as I left to go to the gym in the basement. -- -- -- -- --     I quickly took off my shirt and put on workout shorts in the middle of the gym. I don't give a s**t if anyone is looking at me and checking me out. It doesn't matter if they think I'm hot or not because they won't ask me out. Not when they know I'm dating Tommy.     I went to the tread mill and started to run. I turned the speed all the way up and slowly started to make it incline more and more. I started to sweat after ten minutes but kept running for another thirty minutes. Ten miles in 40 minutes, not my best but still better than everyone else.     I moved onto the punching bags and started hitting them without gloves. You see the weakness most people have is stamina and soft skin. Not soft as in smooth but skin that can't take a beating without causing pain. I've bled my knuckles so much that I don't feel pain when the skin rips. s**t most the time I don't feel pain unless it is emotional pain.     After a few hours I went to my room. While I was taking a shower I just kept thinking about my abilities. Being an assassin means we have to be the best of the best. I have to train the hardest and it pays off. Hell even the SEAL's couldn't keep up with me. The water is my home, not in a weird way but I have always been an amazing swimmer and could save any SEAL who was drowning from the heavy armor.      But what makes me special? I actually give a s**t about the people around me. Sure I am in a gang, but I don't do anything except assassinate and protect people who deserve it. My parents taught me that much. Be loyal, think for yourself,  investigate the case you get put on in case someone is lying. But most importantly, if you feel like someone is hiding something, you are more than likely right. You could call it a sixth sense. I have never been wrong, I have excelled at reading people.     So what do I have on Aarons gang? Well nothing to be honest. I never ran into anyone from their gang and that's what irritates me. I have't seen anyone from ANY gang but mine, seems odd if you ask me. Yet again nobody knows I am part of the gang, nobody knew I was part of the Lee family except the most important members of the gang. So maybe I just don't know them because I stay hidden in this life.      Assassin: Shadow of the night.      At least that's what my family called it. I was the designated assassin so that each family member had an equal roll in this business. My brother Sam was a ballistics expert, always your go-to-guy when it came to any weapon. My foster mom Sarah was in charge of neurotics, she may have been the best in history. She could tell if it was wrong or laced just by glancing at it. Then there was my foster dad Mark... He was the best fighter, he started teaching me everything he knew the day he adopted me and my little brother.     My real parents? Well that involves telling you my past and well, you don't need to know about it. I don't want anyone but Tommy to know. -- -- -- -- Falcon POV     "I can't believe you are really going to do it." I looked over at Tommy and he had the biggest smile I had ever seen.     "I can't help it. I want her to be happy with me."     "You know she is happy without this right? She just wants to be near you."     "Yeah but I want more than that. I want her to always be mine and for people to know it." Tommy stuck out his tongue and I just rolled my eyes.     "She will be a target once you make it public. Do you want that Tommy?"     "What about you? When you decided to marry my dad, did you worry about the danger you were putting him in?" Tommy raised his eyebrow at me and I shrugged.     "I didn't have to think about it. Sure being gay is frowned upon but who cares? It's our life not theirs. But she is different than your dad. But she is unknown to the world where as your father was just in another gang."     "But she is known as a fighter. And you said it yourself, she is an assassin. She knows how to fight and protect herself better than you and dad combined." Tommy fired back.     "Fine, I will agree as long as you wait until after this mission. She needs to focus and not think about her wedding details."     "You know she won't be thinking about the wedding during her mission. If anything she would work faster."     "Faster and sloppier Thomas! Do you want her to die during this mission or do you want her to come home to you?" I gripped the steering wheel and pressed the gas petal harder.     "You know I don't want that Dad... I just want her to be with me forever."     "Then don't ask her yet. You will get into her head on accident and it might cost her life."     After a VERY awkward silence we pulled up to our house and got out. I sighed as Thomas ran into the house and slammed the door shut.     "What happened to Thomas?" Lenny asked as he walked into the gauge.     "He is pissed off at me because I told him not to ask her yet. She is going away for a while and he might get her killed."     "Babe, you know she can keep a straight mind. She separates personal and business when she is on a mission." Lenny squeezed my hand and sighed.     "I know but if he does this she might end up in the news and blow her cover. It's not just because she won't think straight, it's because her identity will get out while she is undercover."     We stood in silence for a while. Thomas might not listen to me and if he doesn't then our best agent will get killed. But at the same time, so many other things could go wrong. The longer it takes for this mission the more likely she is to get caught.     "Just have faith in her. That's all we really can do."
