Persistent Paradox

1718 Words
Mia was waiting for a responce from Lucian since he was insisting on taking her number but she didn't hear from him for about a week,so she thought that he has already given up on it . On saturday after pulling an all nighter at church Mia on her course of sleeping to her hearts satisfaction came an unknown call that destroyed her beauty sleep with annoyance she cut the call. This person who didn't know the word 'give up' called again and she being a stubborn type ignored the call again. Lucian didn't give up and sent her a text message,so after waking up Mia saw that she had a message and read it. she asked the sender of the message "who is this please",since she had given her number to other guys and to some of her colleagues as well she didn't know who it was. "Guess" hah this person "Lucian" For some reason she thought it was him, well she's a good gusser anyway so it wasn't difficult to guess. "you are a good gusser " Lucian replied "hehe yes I am" Mia replied and said nothing more. The messages kept comming from Lucian's end Mia kept blue ticking it and not repling to any of them, and it went on like that for weeks. Mia’s eyes gleamed with mischief as she stared at her phone screen. Lucian—the persistent, overly eager suitor—had become her latest plaything. She’d grown tired of his relentless pursuit, his incessant texts, and his unwavering belief that he could win her over. Well, Mia was about to teach him a lesson he’d never forget. She leaned back in her chair, her fingers dancing across the virtual keyboard. Sey’s encouragement echoed in her mind: “Give it to him, Mia. Let’s see how long he lasts.” And so, with Sey’s silent approval, Mia embarked on her mission to frustrate Lucian into submission. The first volley was subtle—a delay in her response. Lucian’s messages arrived like clockwork, each one more desperate than the last. “Hey, Mia,” he’d write, “I’ve been thinking about you. How about that coffee I talked about?” Mia would wait. Hours turned into days, and still, she remained silent. Lucian’s texts grew increasingly frantic. “Mia, are you there? Did I say something wrong? Please, just give me a chance.” But Mia was a master of patience. She’d perfected the art of leaving him hanging, of letting his imagination run wild. She’d reply occasionally with mysterious messages that hinted at hidden meanings. “Life is like a Rubik’s Cube,” she’d type. “Sometimes, you just have to twist and turn until the colors align.” Lucian’s confusion was visible. He’d send long paragraphs, pouring out his feelings, only to receive baffling replies. “What do you mean, Mia? Are we close to solving this puzzle?” Mia reveled in his frustration. She’d seen it all—the late-night confessions, the promises of eternal devotion, the grand gestures that fell flat. Lucian was like a moth to her flame, drawn relentlessly toward the chaos she created. And then came the pièce de résistance: the mixed signals. One day, she’d shower him with compliments. “Lucian,” she’d write, “your persistence is admirable. Perhaps there’s hope for us yet.” The next day, she’d turn icy. “Lucian, let’s be realistic. You and I? It’s like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.” Lucian’s resolve wavered. He’d send pleading emojis, heartfelt poems, and even a poorly Photoshopped image of them together. But Mia remained elusive, her responses a blend of encouragement and dismissal. Finally, when Lucian was at his breaking point, Mia dropped the bombshell. “Lucian,” she typed, “I’ve decided to join a monastery. My heart belongs to solitude now. Farewell.” His frantic messages flooded her screen. “Mia, wait! Don’t go! I’ll change! I’ll learn to love Sudoku! Just give me a chance!” But Mia was done. She silenced her phone, savoring the victory. Lucian would give up soon, defeated and bewildered. And as she imagined his sad and disappointed expression, she whispered to Sey, “Mission accomplished" , Lucian would give up soon, defeated and bewildered. Or so she thought. Lucian’s nights were haunted by her mysteerious messages, the Rubik’s Cube of emotions she’d spun around him. He’d tried to move on, to forget the enigma named Mia, but she lingered like a half-forgotten melody, and he wasn't planning to let go ,after all giving up is not in his vocabulary . One day, as rain drummed against the window, she walked in. Mia, with her chestnut waves and eyes that held galaxies. She wore a cloak of mystery, as she sat in her favorite café, nursing a latte, the door swung open. And there he was—Lucian, drenched but determined. His eyes bore into hers, and before she could react, he spoke. “Mia,” he said, his voice steady, “I’ve deciphered your Rubik’s Cube. I’ve weathered your storms and danced through your mazes. But I won’t give up.” She raised an eyebrow. “Do you?” Lucian pulled out a crumpled piece of paper—a list of her favorite books, her childhood dreams, the way she took her coffee. “I’ve studied you, Mia. I know your quirks, your fears, your secret love for cheesy romance novels, and You’re not an enigma, Mia. You’re a masterpiece. And I won’t give up.” Mia’s heart skipped a beat “But why?” she asked . Lucian leaned in, his breath warm hand against her cheek. “Because,” he whispered, “I’ve fallen for the masterpiece that is you,and I won’t let go.” Mia was caught off guard. Her web of deception had ensnared her too. Mia’s heart raced, her defenses crumbling like sandcastles against the tide but she decided to gather them up again. Lucian’s words—their weight, their sincerity—left her breathless. She’d built walls around her heart, but he was chipping away at them, one confession at a time. "tsk this won't do" But Mia’s mind raced. “But I’m flawed,” she confessed. “I’ve made mistakes, i'm hurt.” Lucian’s thumb brushed her cheek. “We all make mistakes,” he murmured. “But it’s the cracks that let the light in. Mia, you’re a masterpiece—a mosaic of scars and stardust. And I won’t let you slip away, and to me you are perfect baby girl.”he said with a sweet smile making her heart race more. She leaned into his touch, her heart teetering on the edge of surrender. “What if I'm broken?” Lucian’s smile was tender. “Then we’ll piece you back together,” he vowed. “With love, with laughter, with stolen kisses under moonlit skies.” No wait what i'm i doing it's not supposed to be like this she thought while gritting her teeth,i'm not capable of being loved so why or is he toying with me. “Mia,” he whispered, “you deserve to be loved and cherised and i would like to be given that opportunity,to be the one who do these.” Mia's heart skipped a beat maybe i should give him the chance. "Mmmm let me think about it"Mia wanted to make sure the decison she was going to take is right. "why don't you give us a period of six month if by that time you don't to be with me after showing all of me to you then i will agree to let you be'" She didn't look at the expression he made, and no one knew what he was thinking. "okay fine i'll give you a chance" YES Lucian screamed in his head with a victory dance which she was unaware of. i'm going to do everything to make her mine within this period he said with smirk For some reason unknown to Mia she felt chills run down her spine. To Lucian Mia was a delicate dance—a tango between curiosity and enchantment. He saw her a masterpiece, a Rubik’s Cube waiting to be solved. But it wasn’t just her mystery that intrigued him; it was the layers beneath—the scars, the laughter, the dreams—that held him captive. To him, she was a masterpiece waiting to be painted. Her voice was like a magnet drawing him in and bringing him peace . Her laughter—the riddle he ached to solve—spoke of secrets waiting to be unraveled. He’d studied her—the way an artist studies light and shadow. Lucian’s resolve was unwavering. He’d cracked the code—the Rubik’s Cube of her heart. And he wouldn’t let go, she was the sweetest revelation—the answer he’d been seeking all along, and he vowed to be the one to be by her side and he was going to make sure of that. As days went by their relationship was growing where Mia would be recieving surprise attacks from Lucian.Sometimes she didn't know what to do because she had no idea what a relationship should be like, she would tell Lucian about that and he would reassure her that it was okay he would teach her little by little. There was even a time where they called each other and Mia would be silent not knowing what to say at some point, but surprisingly whenever she asked him if he felt frustrated or upset whenever she dosen't say anything he would tell her that he wasn't upset or frustrated because he knew understood her maybe us because her mom would be around so she couldn't say anything. Lucian was informed about the fact that Mia couldn't accept calls at home because of her mom because she would tell her to put the call on speaker so that she hears the conversation she is having with the other party. And she was forbidden from being in a relationship even though she was twenty, if it's not with the person her mom chooses for her she can't be in a relationship unles she was done with the university ,so for the mean time they had to keep a secret from her.
