CHAPTER 1-ONE BLOODY NIGHT
MORGAN The stench of blood filled my nose as I reached the alley that I usually take on my way home from the school library at Hudson University. I'm no stranger to blood. I have grown accustomed to it since I started practising medicine at a young age. A dozen muscular men turned in my direction at once the moment they heard the sound of my motorcycle. I stopped my track. I remained silent and didn't dare to move an inch, not because I'm scared but because I'm contemplating whether I will put my nose in someone else's business or walk away and stay under the radar, just like what I have been doing for the last five years. Dead bodies were scattered on the dirty ground of the alley that night. But my eyes were fixated on the man lying on the ground, trying to fight for his life. He was drenched in blood as he clutched his side, probably from the bullet he took from these men. Despite looking like a mess, I couldn't help but notice his prominent green eyes that bore into my soul. His eyes were lazy, and he looked so weak, but even that didn't stop me from admiring how gorgeous a man he was. "Walk away, Morgan. You can't involve yourself in a mess just because you find that man attractive."I whispered to myself as I started to clench my fist around the accelerator. "Kill her. We don't want any witnesses," ordered one of the men. "Boss, should we waste our time with her? No one would dare to file a case against us," the other one answered. "You fool!" he shouted before giving him a hard blow on the stomach. "Do you realize what's going to happen to us once someone knows that we're the ones who killed the head of Black Diamond Elite? Now, go and kill the girl!" he shouted once again. That was my cue. It seems like they have no plan to spare me, whether I get into their business or not. So much for staying under the radar, Morgan. My hand clenched the motorcycle's throttle, urging it to release a passionate growl that echoed along the dark alley. As the engine hummed beneath me, a surge of exhilaration coursed through my veins, matching the pulsing rhythm of my heart. Without second thought, I drove my motorcycle right into those thugs. It hit them one by one with a thunderous force, causing them to stumble upon contact with my motorcycle. Those who managed to dodge my attack didn't waste a minute. They pointed their guns at me. But before they could even pull the trigger, I was quick to get out of my motorcycle and run closer to him until we were face-to-face. The thing about guns is that they're good for long-range attacks. But it doesn't do much damage to your opponent when you are too close to them. "Who are you pointing your gun at?" I told the man when I got close to him, followed by a devilish smirk. "What the!" He was taken aback. He probably wasn't expecting me to get closer to him instead of running away from his run. I quickly pushed his hand so his bullet would go the other way. The other man wasn't expecting it, so he didn't get the chance to move away, causing him to get hit by a bullet. Bullets came raining down on me right after. I used that man's body to cover myself. When they stopped to check if I was dead, I quickly grabbed that chance and picked up the metal pipe sitting on the ground. I may have used to bloodshed, but I'm no murderer. Whether they are good or bad people, I don't want to kill anybody. All I could do was get them unconscious. I was quick to move-too quick that nobody could anticipate my move. I already calculated everything, from steps to my next moves. It didn't take me more than fifteen minutes before I could take them all down, hitting them in the right spot to incapacitate them. Eventually, I found myself standing in the middle of that dark alley, surrounded by vicious men lying on the ground, unconscious but not dead. "And what do we have here?" I mumbled as I slowly took a step closer to the man who was fighting for his life. I checked his wound, and I could see the bullet from where I was standing. Blood was dripping from his body, and I'm sure it wouldn't take long before he completely lost all his blood. "Now, mister, I think you're coming with me." "Hmmm..." he replied with a weak growl. He was so big compared to my petite body, so I was having a hard time picking him up. I was already catching my breath when I successfully managed to put him on the back of my motorcycle. "You have to hold me tight, mister," I told him, not sure if he was able to comprehend what I said in his current state. "Who are you? I'm going to kill you," he threatened. "Yeah, right. I'm scared," I told him sarcastically. "In order to do that, you have to live. Now hold tight and kill me later." My mind was filled with uncertainty, wondering if he truly understood every word I said, yet eventually, he gradually drew me close, encircling my waist with a firm, possessive grasp. An involuntary gasp escaped my lips as his warmth pressed against my back, ensnaring me in the cocoon of his powerful, masculine arms. To make the situation worse, I felt his breath, warm and infused with a hint of mint, send shivers cascading down my spine as he nuzzled his face against the curve of my neck. "Not the right time, Morgan," I reminded myself as I started to drive the motorcycle. It's a good thing that it's almost past ten in the evening now. At least, there are not many people going around at this hour. Judging by the situation, bringing this man to the hospital wasn't really a good plan. Besides, I don't think I wanted to involve myself in this more than I already am. I decided to bring him to our school laboratory at Hudson University. There are a few tools there that I am able to use to get the bullet out of his wound and stitch it. I parked my motorcycle behind the bushes at the back entrance of the university. I tried my best to minimize our movement so we wouldn't catch any attention. I decided to take the secret entrance so we could get inside unnoticed. But there's another problem that I need to deal with before walking inside the premises. There are a lot of security cameras around the campus. I need to take care of that before bringing an injured man onto our school campus. "Don't die on me, mister. We're almost there," I told him as I picked up my phone from my pocket. I opened the app that I accredit and started hacking every security camera within our parameters. I created this app out of boredom. I had no idea that this would come in handy in this kind of situation. "And... we're done," I told myself proudly when I managed to freeze the cameras so they wouldn't see us entering the building. "You're lucky to have me as your saviour today, mister." Guiding him with a steady hand, I felt his weight against my shoulder as we walked towards the building. As we reached the laboratory, my heart sank as I discovered the door firmly sealed shut. With a sense of urgency driving me, I swiftly plucked a pin from the tangle of my hair. Focused and determined, I skillfully manoeuvred the pin into the lock, my fingers dancing with practised precision. In a matter of moments, the door yielded to my efforts, swinging open with a soft creak that echoed through the sterile halls. I moved swiftly inside the laboratory's dimly lit interior, my eyes scanning the room. My eyes immediately landed on the dissecting table that stood silently in the corner of the room. It's typically reserved for the cold embrace of lifeless cadavers. With a swift, purposeful stride, I made my way to the table. I gently laid him down on top of it. I rummaged through the medical tools that're currently available in the laboratory. Luckily, I found everything that I needed to safely remove the bullet from his body. It started snipping his shirt so I could have good access to his wound. I gulped when his perfectly shaped body was revealed right in front of me. Despite the difficult situation that we're in, I couldn't help but get mesmerized by his well-built physique. His body was a work of art, with every muscle finely crafted. His chiselled chest and well-defined abs were enough to awaken something within me. His arms were thick with muscles, and you could see the determination in the veins. His broad shoulders and powerful back showed his confidence and strength. "Enough fantasizing, Morgan," I scolded myself before I continued cutting his shirt off. I took a deep breath before I picked up the scalpel. I looked at him, and he already looked pale, as if all the blood had already been drained out of his body. I wanted to ease the pain that he was feeling right now, but this laboratory wasn't equipped for breathing humans. We don't have any anaesthesia available here. I'm just glad that he's unconscious right now. He may not be able to feel any of this. I started to carefully put an incision in his wound to make enough space for me to get the bullet out. I was cutting him with precision so I wouldn't damage him any further. "Fck!" he screamed in pain when I started to insert the forcep into his wound to get the bullet inside. I tried my best to be gentle, but operating without anaesthesia will definitely be hard for any patient. "What are you doing? Do you want to die?" he said before grabbing my wrist. I was surprise to see him awake at this moment. His eyes were lazy, and he can barely open it. "No, but you will if you don't let me do my job," I replied, snatching my arm away from his grasp. "No! Don't touch me!" he yelled once. "Okay, be my guest. I'm not the one lying on top of the disecting table, bleeding to death," I responded sarcastically. "I don't appreciate your smart mouth," he said, it was very apparent that his energy was slowly draining out of his body. I'm quite impressed that he can stay conscious despite his current situation. "And I don't appreciate you being so stubborn. So, quit talking and let me check your wound." "Tell me your name. If you save me tonight, I'll make sure to give you anything you want," he said. "Well, if you insist. My name is..." But before I could even finish, he went back to being unconscious. "I'm sorry, mister. Just hang on a little bit longer," I told him as I continued to remove the bullet. I was quick to grab the needle and thread right after, then quickly started stitching his wound. I was quite relieved when I finally stopped the bleeding. He's out of grave danger now. "I did the best I could, mister. The next step is up to you now. I can't involve myself any further. 'Til we see each other again," I whispered to him, even though I'm sure he was out of his wits to comprehend what I said. My eyes slowly lowered to his pale, luscious lips. I suddenly felt an urge to kiss him. This could be my one and only chance to get a taste of it. "I know this is wrong, but consider this as your payment for me saving your life," I whispered before planting a soft kiss on his lips. I smiled to myself before putting my hoody back on and quickly moving out of the laboratory. I waited until I got to my motorcycle before I put every camera back to the way it was. ******
