Chapter 1 Only Worth Half a Million Dollars
Cynthia Moore's POV
I had just finished showering and stepped out of the bathroom when I heard my phone buzzing continuously. Curious, I wondered who would be calling me at this hour. After I glanced at the phone screen, my heartbeat instantly quickened as the number displayed was one that I was all too familiar with. It was him!
After swiping to answer, I pretended to nonchalantly ask, "Hello?"
"How about we meet tonight?" he asked.
"Now?"
"Yes."
After hanging up, his husky and deep voice still echoed in my ears. My heart pounded uncontrollably as images of his muscular physique, his sharply defined features, and his hot breath whispering in my ear flashed through my mind. I couldn't wait another minute, quickly got ready, and rushed to our meeting place.
Yes. I, Cynthia Moore, was going to meet my friend with benefits. No one knew the pressure I, a shining star in the corporate world, really faced. Between a father that was all about profit, a wicked stepmother, and a scheming sister, it all wore me down. Only by having s*x with that man in a passionate, uninhibited encounter could I briefly escape all this mess.
I simply couldn't refuse such an invitation.

About half an hour later, I arrived at the entrance of his apartment complex and tentatively knocked on his door. Soon after, the door opened, and there he was...
He's named Felix Brooks. He had high cheekbones, full lips, a square jaw, and a straight nose. His hair was short and neat at the neck but long and wavy on top. However, it was his icy and direct, emerald-green eyes that left me wanting. He smelled faintly of red wine. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were glazed. He leaned casually against the door.
"You're here," he said, his lips curling slightly as his piercing gaze locked on me. With my wavy golden hair, sun-kissed skin, hourglass figure, deep blue eyes, and full lips, I knew most men would want me. He was no exception.
He quickly wrapped his arms around me, buried his face in my neck, and started passionately kissing my neck and earlobes. We shed each other's clothes, and his hands expertly moved down. Desire washed over me swiftly; I closed my eyes, vividly feeling his intensity... I felt overwhelmed, as if crushed by a mountain, growing weaker... All my reasoning was submerged. He thrust powerfully into me, like countless times before...
Afterward, I immediately headed to his bathroom to shower.
Felix owned a cruise line business, so, of course, he was wealthy. This less than 2000-square-foot apartment wasn't his home. It was just a place for his escapades.
When I came back from the shower, I saw him still lying on the sofa, smoking and lost in thought amidst the swirling smoke. From my angle, Felix's high nose bridge and deep-set eyes seemed even more mesmerizing.
I met him at a cruise party a year ago.
That night, I was at the cruise bar, downing one drink after another, barely aware of what I looked like or the nonsense I was spouting. But somehow, I caught his attention. He whisked me around the cruise ship, and we had a blast talking. By the end of it, my memory was fuzzy... I only remembered succumbing to him under the haze of alcohol, engaging in an intimate encounter without really knowing each other.
The experience was unusual but fabulous. So, we thought we might continue. After a few more dates, we became friends with benefits. Our relationship had no strings attached and no emotional commitments. It was purely physical. What I never told him was that he was my only partner.
I quietly observed Felix for a while, almost as if I were spellbound and nailed to the spot. I walked over in a daze and sat down on his lap, inhaling the faint scent of his cologne. For a moment, I felt dizzy and couldn't help but plant a kiss on Felix's cheek.
He then turned toward me, and our eyes met.
We looked deeply into each other's eyes, surrounded by a profound silence as if the air around us had frozen. For a moment, I didn't know what to say and ended up smiling tenderly at Felix, though it seemed absurd to do so. However, his expression remained cold and unchanged throughout, and he quickly turned away.
I felt a bit disheartened.
Suddenly, Felix asked a bizarre question, "You haven't fallen for me, have you?"
I was startled for a moment, then laughed. Why were all handsome guys so narcissistic?
We'd slept together plenty of times, but I was not about to just hand over my heart!
"Are you talking about your size? It's decent."
His face darkened, and he glared at me forcefully. "Don't fall in love with me. There's no future for us."
My body stiffened, then I sneered, "Are you joking? You may be rich, but I can find better men than you. To me, you're just a convenient vibrator when I'm bored."
He seemed stunned by my words, as if my bluntness had struck a nerve, and his laugh became colder. "Good, as long as you understand that. It's better for the both of us if we stick to the rules of the game."
Then, Felix took out his wallet, casually pulled out a card from a stack of bank cards. He thrust it into my hand with some irritation. "Listen, I'm getting married next month. Tonight is the last time, but I won't leave you empty-handed. This card has half a million dollars on it. Take it and disappear. Don't bother me again!"
My eyes widened in shock and disbelief. How dare he insult me with money?!
As anger boiled within me, I couldn't hold back any longer. I snatched the bank card from Felix, forcefully snapped it in front of him with a loud c***k, and then threw it at his arrogant face.
"Consider this 500 grand my payment to you. As nothing but my vibrator, that's all you're worth!" I mocked.
Felix looked at me in shock, as if my actions had driven him mad.
But I couldn't care less about what he thought.
"That's it, see ya! No, goodbye forever!" I exclaimed angrily. Afterward, I furiously pulled out my phone, found Felix's number, blocked it, grabbed my purse, and stormed out the door.
This damned arrogant vibrator!
