From the Author of 'Version One and a Half (Version 1 1/2)' comes 'Diary from Heaven', story of ‘Arun’ and his struggle with addiction.

Arun was a typical Indian boy, with big dreams. Music was his life; he was always hooked on.

You could call him an ‘Eternal Junkie’ because if he was not high on drugs or alcohol, he was always lost in his high-speed thoughts.

He always said that he could not control his thoughts and that his brain was like a ‘Railway Track’ on which the ‘Bullet Train’ of his thoughts ran uncontrolled... This is his story.

Put the Glass Down
“Hum naa sumjhe the baat itni si, khwaab sheeshe ke duniya patthar ki - Gardish.” “My dreams were like glass, and the world was hard as stone.” Life is a struggle between our perception and point of view versus that of others. What people perceive about us is solely based upon our decisions and subsequent actions. Our decisions are based upon our priority and perception about what is good and what is bad. In the end, we are all right in our respective area of influence. We all make choices, and no one else can be held responsible for them. Staying happy is one such choice. We all have the choice to not to suffer and stay happy. Happiness, they say, is a state of mind and not a situation or a condition. It is our decision either to stay happy or not; no one alive or dead controls this decision. I wanted to share this story before the actual story started. It’s a simple story with a profound meaning. This story is available on social media in various forms. You might remember it or you might not, but it’s got a valuable lesson for all us. Let’s see what this story is about: A teacher began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the students, "How much do you think this glass weighs?" “20 grams, 30 grams, 40 grams… and so on and so forth,” the students answered. "I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the teacher, "but, my question is…what happens if I hold it up like this for a few minutes?" “Nothing," the students said. "Ok! What would happen if I hold it up like this for an hour?" the teacher asked. “Your arm would begin to ache," said one of the students. “You're right. Now, what would happen if I hold it for a day?" “Your arm could go numb. You might have severe muscle stress and paralysis!" said another student. "Very good, however, during all this, did the weight of the glass change?" asked the teacher. "No…," the students said. "Then what causes the arm ache and the muscle stress?" The students were puzzled. "Because you hold on to it too long!" said one of the students. "Exactly!" said the teacher. "Life's problems are something like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head, and they seem okay. Think of them for a long time, and they begin to ache. Hold it even longer, and they begin to paralyse you. You will not be able to do anything." "It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life. But, EVEN MORE, IMPORTANT is to put them down at the end of every day before you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh and strong and can handle any issue or challenge that comes your way!" So, remember to PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY! Unfortunately, our protagonist Arun forgot to put the glass down and held on to it for a very, very, very... long time and severely suffered. “No amount of guilt can change the past and no amount of worrying can change the future – Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab.” Find a way and keep moving...
