(Gabriella POV)
I awoke the next morning accepting my fate. I was okay with giving my life to those I loved the most. I looked over at Greyson who was still sleeping peacefully beside me. I sat up on my arm and watched him. He looked so peaceful and happy. I knew losing me would tear his heart but the beautiful woman in my vision seemed to make him happy and for that I was grateful. Maybe she was his second chance mate. It would explain how he survived the loss of me. Most mates never survived the death of the other unless they were destined to be a second chance mate. I touched his hair and ran my hand down his face and across his chiseled jawline. The was so handsome. I knew I had to make the days leading up to the war ones that he and Jordan could cherish forever. I went to the kitchen and grabbed two mason jars from the cabinet. I started decorating them by painting them and adding small rhinestones to Jordan’s. I wrote on the front of them with a paintbrush (100 reasons I love you for days you need to hear it most). I planned to fill them with small pieces of paper with different reasons why I love them and encouragement. I also planned to video myself so that Jordan could see and hear me on important milestones in her life. Things that a daughter would want her mother there for. Her first heartbreak, prom, and graduation, when she finds her mate and her first child. It was important to me that I be a present part of her life. She wouldn’t have her mother there with her and that would be hard enough on her. I finished the jars and wrote a few notes for each and hid them away in the cabinets under the sink so that Greyson wouldn’t wander upon them. Now I just had to make sure that we won this war. No matter what we had to win. I couldn’t allow my daughter to have the future I was shown.
I got myself and Jordan ready quietly allowing Greyson to sleep. He needed his rest and I was grateful he was getting it. I left the house and made my way to the High Priestess's apartment on the second floor of the main house. She would be the only one I could speak to regarding this. No one else could know or they wouldn’t allow me to fight. And without me, the war would be lost. I knocked on her door and she opened it with a smile taking Jordan from me and allowing me inside. “You’re troubled Gabby!” she told me sensing my emotions through her gifts. “Sit and let's talk.” She motioned for me to sit on her couch while she sat with Jordy in her and the chair next to me. “I was visited by the Moon Goddess last night,” I admitted. “And what did she say?” She asked curiously. “There could be two outcomes. We lose and the world goes to s**t with all of us being sold as slaves. Jordy ripped from her mate and sold to a crowd of disgusting men for her virginity.” I growled the thought tearing my heart out. “Or we win and I give my life so that those I love can survive and live happily.” A tear escaped down my cheek as her eyes widened. “I’m so sorry Gabriella.” She took my shaking hand. “I’m okay with during for my family. For her life to be full of happiness and love. I’m okay with that. I just don’t want them to suffer from my loss.” I croaked my voice getting caught in my throat as I choked back sobs. “Grief is a part of life Gabriella. They will grieve but they will get through it.” She explained. I nodded w m head as we sat in silence only Jordan’s coos could be. “Mama,” Jordan said and my eyes went wide. My heart is filled with love and happiness. I had just witnessed my baby's first words. She reaches for me her eyes sparkling. “Mama.” She said again. I took her in my arms holding her tight. “Oh, my dear girl you are so smart.” I cried. “She is a special child,” Eliza stated as she rubbed Jordan’s back. “It's time we get to work Eliza. I have to end this for her and Greyson.”
