Rebuilding a family

The Next Day. I was sitting on the couch feeding Jordy when there was a knock on the door. I stood up taking care to not disturb her and went to answer it. Pulling open the door I spotted Cassie standing on the other side. “Hey, you! Come in!” I smiled and hugged her tightly. Cassie walked into the house her curious eyes scanning the place. “You have a nice home.” She looked at me watching as I fed Jordy. “Well it's not my home it's kind of just on loan until all this is over, but thank you. I like it.” I explained to her. “Can I hold Jordy?” she whispered trying not to wake her. I nodded my head and lifted Jordy sitting her in Cassie's arms. “She is beautiful.” Cassie smiled down at her. “Yes, she is. Just as you are.” I told her stroking her hair. “Gabby is it weird that I feel weird being out of the cell?” she asked as sadness flashed through her eyes. “Of course not. You spent a long time there. You became accustomed to it. It's only natural. It will even be okay if you maybe missed it a little.” I assured her. She shook her head that she understood but still seemed like something was bothering her. “The Alpha came by today. He said my parents will be here this afternoon.” Cassie whispered as she looked up at me. “Cassie I will always be here. I will always be a part of your life. I promise.” I told her scooting over to put my arm around her. “To the moon,” I whispered in her ear making him smile. “And back again.” She finished. Cassie helped me with Jordan the rest of the morning. We played with her and bathed her. Greyson had left to practice with the warriors who had been allowed on Coven land after my capture. A lot had changed in the few short days since I had been gone. Jordy had grown so much. She was getting her first bottom tooth. Greyson seemed more motivated and my mother had seemed to come into her power. My father wasn’t liking it too well here. He was used to working all the time and he hardly had anything to do now but refused to leave mom to go back to pack territory. My mother myself and the rest of the women in the coven were meeting today so that I could practice my craft for the first time. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous because so very much was. We had warriors and powerful witches stationed along the borders but so far no one had been spotted attempting to mess with the wards. My mother would know instantly as it was connected to her lifeline. Cassie, Greyson, myself, and Jordy made our way to the main house to meet Cassie’s parents. We came around the corner just as a black Mercedes with tinted windows pulled into the driveway. I recognized it as one of the Alphas cars that his security guards drive. Cassie gripped my hand as if she was going to fly away if she let go. I squeezed her ha d reassuringly. “Hey to the moon,” I whispered to her. “And back again.” She smiled up at me. The door to the car opened and a petite woman who looked like an older version of Cassie stepped out of the car. Behind her, a large man with chocolate brown hair and blue eyes stepped out. They both turned to us and tears streaked the woman’s face. “Cassie!” the woman gasped and ran toward Cassie. Cassie looked up to me hesitantly, “Go to your momma I’ll be right here.” I reassured her. Cassie’s small hand slipped from mine and my heart aches. I was so happy to see her reunited with her family but I was also torn because I had become accustomed to having her around. Cassie flew into her mother's arms knocking her over onto the ground. Her mother wept as she held Cassie plating kisses on her face. “Oh, my baby how I’ve missed you.” The woman cried. Her father came up to her and scooped her up into his arms. He held her tightly against him as tears ran down his cheeks. “Oh my girl I’m s sorry I didn’t protect you “ He gasped through his sons. “It's not your fault daddy. You didn’t know.” Cassie replied to him. Greyson took my hand and we walked up to him. I handed Jordan to Greyson just as Cassie’s mother pulled me to her hugging me tightly. “Thank you for rescuing my baby.” She whispered. “Cassie is the one who rescued me. Without her, I wouldn’t have made it through this.” I told her. Cassie looked up at her mother proudly. The Alpha walked out the door interrupting their union. “Mr. and Mrs. Linton do you have any other children?” he asked them. “Yes, sir we have a younger daughter and son.” The man explained. “Where are they?” The Alpha asked. “They're at the hotel down the road with their grandmother.” Mr. Linton answered. The alpha's eyes glazed over and the guard entered the car driving off. “We are going to have to recommend you stay on Coven ground. Our sources have confirmed that your family is being watched. We can’t risk letting Cassie leave. I have sent my guard to retrieve your children and their grandmother as well as your belongings.” He explained. “We understand sir and we are grateful but I have a large family where will we stay?” Mr. Linton asked his voice laced with concern. “You will still be in the cottage next to hours. It's three bedrooms and is fully furnished.” I told them. Mrs. Linton looked at me and smiled “We could never repay you for all you have done for us.” She whispered. “You never have to,” I assured her. Cassie ran up to me wrapping her arms around my legs. “I don’t have to go Gabby. We can still spend time together.” She cried. “We would have either way.” I smiled down at her.
