The Lost Alpha

Chapter 5

*Morgan POV*
The alpha introduced himself as Kane, he was exuding an aura but he was clearly holding it back. While examining his face, he looked calm and yet very focused. It was obvious to me then that he was holding his aura back. That's new. Anyone I have encountered in the forest that had an aura, used it to keep people away or force them to do things for them out of fear for their lives.
It scared me enough to stay away. I got too close once and it was almost suffocating.
"What's a mate? My wolf keeps saying it to me but I don't know what it is," I manage to say loud enough. I was trying not to say anything that would get me into trouble, or worse killed.
It was a genuine question, so they can't see it as malicious. I hope.
I tried to look calm, I have the teeny tiny inkling that I am failing miserably.

I finally remembered the other man's name, the one next to Alpha Kane. He said his name was Beta Seth. Alpha Kane looked at Beta Seth, then they both looked back at me. "A mate is two individuals bound together by the Moon Goddess," panic rose, I'm bound to Alpha Kane?! What is he going to do to me?! My eyes widen at his words. "Please let me finish," Alpha Kane pleaded while taking in my expression. "They are supposed to embrace and cherish each other. Most wolves find their mates at eighteen or nineteen. The bond may be chosen for you, but choose to accept and embrace it? Your bond will be unmatched and unrivaled," He finished.

That doesn’t sound so bad.

I am still scared shitless of these men. Mate or not, bond or not, he needs to prove he won't hurt me. I won't just believe his words. I liked that little mantra, he hurts me, I am gone. He proves he won't? He deserves a chance. "So you are my mate?" I point to Alpha Kane. He nods. His eyes lit up like he's happy I finally acknowledged we are mates. "I-I don't know... I don't trust people. They've hurt me." I whisper. Both of their expressions change. Oh no, they look angry! My chest heaves, and I scramble on the bed wherever I could get to. I can't get any higher on the bed but I also can't take another fall on my ass. Two falls on it was enough.


I kicked the blanket away and shuffled up the bed, as far as humanly possible. I freeze when Alpha Kane puts his hands to top of mine. This weird tingling started to happen when he touched me. It slithers up my arms, through my body and to my chest. It seems to regulate my breathing quicker than when he just spoke to me before. My eyes watch his and his eyes meet mine again in an intense stare. He looks more relaxed after that. Okay so I won't die today... Maybe.


"We are not angry at you," he says clearly but his tone has clearly softened. "We want to know more about what you experienced while you lived in the forests." he asks me, staring into my soul searching for an answer. When I didn't answer, he sighed, " we can talk here now? Or, we can take you to the pack house, help you get cleaned up and sleep some more. Get better and when you trust us a little bit more, you can tell us your story?" He squeezed my hands. "I can be clean here? How?" I question immediately, my body needing to be clean. I would rather not bathe in front of these two though. I have some dignity left.


Beta Seth explains what a shower is, describing the knobs on the wall that you turn to a temperature you like. Then water falls from a small circle in the sky. It sounded both nice but terrifying. A hot shower? Never had one. I bathed in creeks, rivers and lakes to clean. "I'd like some time if that's okay?" I watch both men as they smile at my answer. That must have been the right one. I think they would have genuinely been okay with whichever I chose. As long as I give them the information they want about me. They seem very curious about me and my life in the forests. Maybe they genuinely want to help me? Soon the bag that was dripping into the tube attached to my arm is when Doctor Taylor checked me over again. I felt surprisingly refreshed and yet hit by a boulder at the same time. I looked forward to some sleep. After checking me over, she was happy for me to leave, but not without giving a list to Alpha Kane and Beta Seth. She said its got foods on there that are best for my recovery. "And you maybe want to have a look around the pack lands when you're feeling better?" Alpha Kane asked me gently as he held out his hand for me. 


I took his hand and he helps me down from the bed. His eyes widen slightly when he sees I am almost eye level with him. He must be around 6ft 7in, because I reach his neck/ chin. Are the women here not very tall? My height was both an advantage and disadvantage in the forest. I could reach lots of things in the trees and get a good branch to hold when I wanted to climb. But it made it hard for me to hide when I needed to. I nod to Alpha Kane and say thank you to Doctor Taylor, "Call me Viv! Feel free to come and chat when you need a friend," she smiles as she waves us out the door. Now I am left with these men, with no one else to stop them. Stay calm, I'm sure I won't get myself killed now I am alone with them. Right?
