Chapter 1
I was running. Faster than my legs ever took me before. A stranger was chasing me. He found me at my one sanctuary. I will never trust another, not after last time! My legs ache, my feet are blistering as I dodge trees and avoid tripping over the forest below my feet. Tears are streaming in my eyes, and my lack of nutrients is becoming evident in my lack of energy, I mind link my wolf, "I need you. Please help me get away!" She didn't answer.
She just pushed herself to the forefront of my mind, her strength pulsing through my body, giving me the strength and energy to push on without shifting and exposing herself.
I should probably start at the beginning as to why I'm in this situation. It started way before I could even remember, but I will tell you what I remember.

I had been wandering the forest for many years already, and that much was evident. Any time I caught my reflection in the river or a lake, my hair was beyond matted, and my cheeks were sunken from lack of food. I had just found a pack's emergency clothes for a woman, so I took the opportunity to finally wear clothes. The only downside was that they were for an adult. They were far too big. The T-shirt was grey and so long it could have been a dress. The joggers were huge. I rolled up the legs and used the drawstring to tighten the waistband on my hips. They were well made because they were so soft. I felt a million times better already now that I was in some clothes rather than wandering the woods naked. I have lived in a cave in the side of the mountain for 6 years. It was the only place that kept me warm and safe until my wolf, Saph, had come to me. This now means I am 16. She warned me, we had been here too long and we could be found. She talked me through my first shift in my mind as she came forward for the first time. My bones cracking and breaking to morph into my wolf form. She had already told me to take my clothes off because she knew what I was wearing was all I had. I couldn't help but scream at the agony my first shift gave me. But when it was over, I felt stronger, more alert. Until Saph came to me, I had been hunting on my own. I couldn't catch anything like a fox or rabbit. I lived off raw fish from the river and bugs. I tried eating berries and mushrooms from the forest and learned my lesson real quick. Being sick with no help taught me to stick to what I can catch. I have learned which forest foods are edible and which to avoid. But now I wasn't alone. Saph was in charge at night. Ready for danger just so I could sleep. We learned what materials gave us better cover at night. I hid under branches and leaves, I covered myself in mud to hide my scent, and then I would shift into Saph until morning. Then one day we found a beautiful waterfall and lake. I walked into a cave for cover from a storm that was raging for 5 whole days. When it cleared, I saw the light at the other end of the cave. Following the cave through, I came out the other side to a beautiful oasis. A sanctuary. The grass was pure and vivid green. The trees look hundreds of years old but look as lush and full of life as if they had never wilted their leaves. The lake is as blue as the sky and as clear as it could be. I could see the fish and the stones at the bottom. This place has been untouched for god knows how long. The waterfall crashed into the lake. It gave me peace. This is my home now. I began to forage near the cave to find materials to build a shelter near the waterfall. It was the perfect place to call home. I started looking for branches and logs from fallen trees. They all had to be similar lengths, and that took all day! Saph was glad to rest properly that night as she used her strength to help me get the logs and branches back to the cave. The next day was spent by the river just south of the cave to my little sanctuary. There were clay deposits. It was not the best adhesive, but it would have to do with what I have around. I went back and forth from the river to where I left the logs and began to build a shelter against the edge of the mountain. This is the place I would call home. I was halfway through leaving the logs up when night fell again. We slept under the patch of logs I had erected so, to shelter us from the elements. The gentle breeze was absent from my sleep that night as the logs kept it out. Over the next day and a half I had leaned over twenty logs against the mountains edge. The sticks, branches and clay helped plug some gaps so during winter we wouldn’t freeze. The Downside was that we had completely forgotten to hunt for food the day the house was finished.

Saph pushed forward, allowing our senses to help us find food. I exited the cave to begin hunting. We shifted when we sensed a deer in the distance.
Saph skillfully stalked it until it was time to pounce. Masterfully, she jumped onto the deers back, and it bucked, but it was futile as she delivered a fatal bite to the neck. She dragged it back to our hut, where she let me have control again. Raw meat was never a problem for me. my stomach was used it. It was the only time I ever felt full, too. I soon drifted off to sleep in my shelter, feeling like things were finally starting to look up.
