By the time I reached the top of the stairs and emerged into the grand foyer of the Ring’s villa, Melody and Recca had caught up with Winston. The former oligarch’s hands were bound behind him. Three guards in Guild uniforms were leading him in my direction. Toward the stairs leading down to the dungeon.
Recca smiled at me. "There’s a job well done."
"No time to celebrate. Lilly’s in trouble."
Recca’s smile dropped. "What kind of trouble?"
"Emerson locked her in a freezer with a limited air supply to ensure my cooperation. She only has a few hours."
"Where?"
"I don’t know exactly. I only ever saw the place from the inside. Charlie was going to give me the address once he had the amulet. I know it’s a few miles from the Ring’s portal."
