Chapter Thirty-One
I shut off the water and stepped out of the shower stall. Wrapped a towel around myself. The guard escorted me back to my cell. I pulled on the jumper they had issued me. Dropped to the floor and did fifty pushups. Sat on my bunk. Pulled the Robert Ludlum novel from under the pillow and opened it to the page I had dogeared.
Melody Watkins had insisted that I and my team (she had called them "co-conspirators") be taken into Guild custody until the Seers Parliament could meet to sort out the whole debacle with the League of the Dragon and the Piero Codex. Melody had finally done what she had been wanting to do for months. She locked me up in a cell in the Ring. I didn’t fight it too hard. Recca had been reinstated. She was watching my back.
