“That was…..” If scorch were to use one word to describe what he was feeling now, it would be ‘refreshing’. In his internal body, it was like he had just drank a cold healthy apple drink and it was cruising down his every cell. When it reached his bones, it felt as if he just had that lazy but intense stretch after a nap.

Standing up with the vigor a 13-year-old can muster Scorch followed the little maid's steps, retracing his way back to the scene.

“Calm down Gerald, remember that even in his stupidity he’s still the mayor’s son! Don’t make rash decisions now”

“Aiya…. I swear down, that rubbish Master, If I see him am going to drink his blood before I live the town. I’m sick of him.” Just a few steps in front of Scorch two bulky men were lying on the ground filled with injuries in different proportions cursing the original owner of this body. They noticed Scorch just a few moments after he did.

“Oi Oi Oi, why are you still here, you should have left when we told you to….. do you think this is a joke to you, you’re probably laughing in your mind right now aren’t you… my brothers are dead, died saving you but you still came back to the place of danger!” The one cursing Gerald got up angrily, he had to teach this greenhorn the horrors of disrespecting elders, especially elders with swords, he would be leaving immediately after this job is done so there was no way the mayor would track him down.

“Wait, I can’t remember the way home, I just need directions and I’ll be on my way," Gerald halted his steps and scrutinized Scorch head to toe, no one knew what he was thinking, He then sighed softly and pointed a direction. "Go that way kid, just short 200 meters, and you're going to see a crossroad. follow it, it's easy to trace your way back from there."

“Gerald, what are you doing, that’s the direction we came from, you and I both know what’s happening down there, this is not funny.” the second man Wayne whispered hurriedly

“Wayne relax, there are other guards there to protect him, I’m 100% sure he’ll still come out unscathed after going there, that’s why I hate him, why do we have to sacrifice ourselves for him, and the worst thing is that the f*cker doesn’t even seem to appreciate it, let the soldiers at the front bully him for us, am sure they’ll be as angry as I am now, that will teach him a lesson.”

Scorch traced his way following the directions, he was befuddled when he saw the two men whispering later on when he’d gone a little further, but he didn’t think too much about it. It wasn’t until he saw the very little maid curled at the base of a tree and the sounds of sword clanking in front of him did it finally dawn on him that he had been played..... Not that it mattered, at least the maid was still here, and he can get the directions from her. He walked forward to her but stopped when he saw her looking at him with a horrified face,

Ahead of him, all the guards were shakenly thrusting their swords towards the level 3 beast, obviously weakened by great lengths. The good news was that the beast also seemed to be in its last breath, barely holding on as it defended against the assault from the damned filthy humans. Scorch noticed that while the beast seemed weak, it was obviously still putting pressure on the soldiers. Leaving deep gnawing wounds with each swipe and Scratch of those deadly claws. Noticing this, the first thing Scorch did was to delve for cover, following the maid to find a safe spot behind one of the large trees common in this in this kind of forest.

Looking at the terrified girl, Scorch tried to placate her, wondering why on earth she would choose to take such a deadly risk to come back here after witnessing the gore from before. Well the maid, Cherry was a strong-willed girl, even though he knew all of this, she still came back here to see the fight fall from its c****x before she’ll feel less agitated, her father, the head guard of the mayor’s mansion had been tasked with protecting the-One and Only little prince of the house-and thus ended up being amongst the brawl against the beast.

Scorch didn't know why he did it, Years later he'll jokingly wish that his first stride into the path to Immortality could have been more grandeur than the incident unfolding now, Cherry the agitated maid broke out of her constraints when he saw the beast trying to break through the last line of defense-her very own old man- she then bravely albeit stupidly hurled a stone at the monster.

The good news was even with such an awkward throw, the stone reached the toes of the beast…. Bouncing on the ground clumsily, the beast got distracted from chomping on her already defeated Father, bad news, it now turned towards her, steam flaring out of its nostrils. In that instance, many options and thoughts filled Scorch's mind, settling on ‘Concluding this dangerous farce the previous owner of this body did and saving a damsel in distress, Scorch jumped out of his hiding spot, shouting and flaring his arms in an ‘am over here’ gesture.

Like a bolt of lightning, the beast suddenly got energized all of sudden, and intense hate filled its eyes. Scorch was Scared stiff, at this moment, the beast and Scorch looked at each other in it’s the feeling of ‘it’s either you die or I die’, Scorch swallowed his breath and prayed sorrowfully ‘Sorry guys, I won’t be able to safe you again, I just want to rest…… to let go….. who do I think I am, I was never rich enough to make you rely on me then, and now, am also not brave and strong enough to save you when you need me the most, sorry Mum’……. And then he ran. Whether it was the thought of his family on earth, his mother that pulled him back or it was the intense fear that shook him awake, he, suddenly filled with adrenaline sweepingly took off with speed unseen by a mere 13-year-old. The soldiers didn’t try anymore to stop the beast that grew angrier by the second, who are they kidding, they all loved their lives, not going to waste them on a futile attempt on stopping a beast from hurting one of the people they all secretly hate and felt disgusted with the most.
