Love lesson12: it’s not your fault
I have been a victim of rape going to the police made me feel like I was the bad person. Like I deserved what happened to me. They asked me why I was even out at night like I was in the wrong for walking at night. Then they asked me what I was wearing. Since when did that matter? No matter what time of day it is or what I am wearing doesn’t give a man the right to rape us. It’s never your fault so please never think that. I know that the cops should be told but yes, they can make you feel bad and dirty. You’re not so please don’t think that. No matter what people might say you’re not a slut and you didn’t deserve it. You may be a victim now but there are ways to become a survivor. I became a survivor the day I chose to tell me story and help other. I know at first it will be hard to talk about, but it will get better with time. Just take every day at a time. Your trust in people will never be the same, but they will just have to work hard to gain your trust. If you read this and you have been through it and need someone to talk to, I am here, and I will listen. Together we can be strong and stop more women from becoming a victim.
