“TODAY, HE IS UP AND about as if nothing ever happened,” Dr. Michael Blake smiles to Abby Goodwin as he greets her by the glass-walled cat enclosure adjacent to the counter. Raphael is sitting politely right at the door and looking up to watch Abby’s approach. “All of his test results are good. An excellent appetite too.”
Dr. Blake opens the enclosure door, Abby kneels down, and Raphael steps his front paws onto her thigh so he can reach his face up close to her nose and greet her. “You are such a treasure,” she says to Raphael, but Dr. Blake answers her with a “thank you” and a laugh, and Abby adds, “Okay, you’re a treasure too, especially if you let Raphael stay with you longer to heal from his neuter surgery and find an everlasting home.”
“We are in no rush,” Dr. Blake answers. H
