Chapter 18
Susan Bar tightly embraces both Abby Goodwin and Pari Malik as they approach the hospital waiting room, thanking each of them, and letting them know that they just missed Campbell Vaughn who had left five minutes earlier. She relays that Nathan Patrick is in extremely critical condition and cannot have in-room visitors, though many had been visiting the hospital throughout the afternoon and evening. Susan tells them his siblings and parents have been reached by phone and are flying in immediately. The doctors will be describing his condition and making decisions as needed directly with his family.
