Chapter 21
Pari Malik intensely scans the parking area again. This time, kneeling down. Still, she only spots scattered coins and bits of paper, and so many small rocks.
Kawaii Hale is ten feet behind her, trying to be patient, but anxious to get back to work.
Minutes earlier Kawaii had finished his lunch at home in his cottage, greeted Pari in The Ring park, and then granted her request for a ride to Moe’uhane. Kawaii politely asked her why Abby hadn’t taken her and she replied that Abby instead went back to the hospital to check on Nathan and the comfort of his family.
Once they drove out of The Ring though, Pari pled for Kawaii to take her for a “quick trip” to Hale’iwa Beach Park. He was very reluctant, but she was insistent, and then profusely grateful when he agreed to do it.
