The Cage

The squealing of brakes and sudden stop is what woke him from his drug induced slumber, he didn't bother reaching out to his wolf this time, knowing the effects of wolfsbane all too well, it would be some time before Fen wouldn't be able to surface. He heard a car door slam and looked around, it was dark for a moment, but he was able to see the cracks in the wooden box he appeared to have been shoved into. Guess this was the hard way, good choice Thorin. he thought bitterly as he felt the wood with his fingers, the smell told him it was made of Oak. Why he knew that he had no clue but it was the only interesting thing going on right now and he was bored. Footsteps and talking, oh how he wished for Fen's hearing right now, then the door to the truck opened and he felt his box being shifted around, carried perhaps? There was a grunt and then he was falling, the box slammed to the ground and he spilled out of it onto the freshly rain soaked ground. He didn't recall it having rained last night, how long had he been out? squinting up at the two figures above him he recognized Tyr, but the other man he didn't know. He was noticably younger then Tyr, if he had to guess maybe his late 20s, using his cuffed hands to shield his eyes he took in the newcomer. His head was shaved, and he had a face full of stubble, he wore similar clothes to Tyr, who had changed since the last time Thorin had seen him, But the style was the same Combat/Lumberjack, He chuckled internally at that thought. "I'm Jason." The younger man stated, then held out his hand as if to help Thorin up. the boy squinted, pondering wether this was a trick. He reached out hesitantly and was hoisted to his feet by the man, he let out a relieved breath and looked around. They where in the middle of a clearing, dense trees surrounded them, in the back of the clearing was a cabin, it was small but looked cosy. Smoke puffed from the chimney, there was a small porch with 2 rocking chairs and an outside fireplace as well. His eyes rested finally on what appeared to be large dog kennels, solidly build a little ways from the house, they looked like they were made of steel, and completely exposed to the elements. Poor dogs he thought. Nearby was a smaller, longer cabin, with three doors along the length of it. rooms? a little ways away from their was an iron stake with an empty chain attached. "Where am I?" he asked hesitantly, tearing his eyes away from the chain. Jason studied him for a minute before replying, "Far from home." "obviously" he snapped he didn't even get a chance to dodge as the punch to his jaw made him drop like a stone. he yelped in pain and held his face, "Do not mistake me for a pushover lad." Jason's voice was soft and he crouched in front of him. " Disrespect will be punished as it would if you were in your pack and not the alpha's son." He reached out to grab Thorin's face, the boy flinched away but he was not deterred, his hand gripped the boys chin as he looked at the bruise that was already forming. "That's gonna swell, best think before you speak next time." He released Thorin chin and stood up. "Alright introductions done, now we pick your quarters." "Chose the hard way." Tyr stated as if that was supposed to mean something. "They usually do." Jason smirked, he grabbed the ends of Thorin cuffed hands and dragged him to his feet, "Off we go then." Thorin followed sluggishly up until he realized where they where going, then it all hit him. The cages where for people, not dogs, he stopped short or tried to, but Jason and Tyr has clearly been expecting this reaction. They dragged him as if all of his body weight against them didn't matter one bit, he was probably only 90 pounds at this point, even though he was only 6, receiving his wolf early had forced his growth into overdrive both physically and mentally. "no no no please look I'll chill out, I'll do what you want please don't do this." Jason pulled him into the cage, and spun him around to look at him. "hands" Thorin didn't respond. "You want to keep the cuffs on?" He shook his head and held out his arms as requested, the man sprung the locks on the cuffs and closed the door behind him leaving Thorin in the cage by himself. The two men began walking away and he yelled out after them "Can I get some food!" If they heard, they didn't care. He sat down on the dirt with a huff and rubbed his raw wrists, his back didn't hurt nearly as much as it had before, and he wasn't hot anymore, so the fever had gone, closing his eyes he put himself by the lake where he and Fen liked to hang out. It was empty now but he remembered when they had first met, after his mother died. The horror of her death and the agony it had caused, he knew even though his father had murdered her, he had felt her death as well, and he had felt it for weeks. Thorin had reveled in that knowledge, the thought that his father was feeling the loss through the mate bond had made him happy. The pack had felt the loss of their Luna even more, they had been quiet, and withdrawn, the pack house, usually so lively and full of laughter, had been silent and empty. Pack members had come to the dining hall and taken their food away to be eaten in their homes. They had avoided him and his father like the plague, feeling the storm that was brewing, their once lively town had been silent. For all intensive purposes they had battened down the hatches, waiting for the inevitable storm to sweep through. And the storm had come, nearly 2 weeks after his first shift, the full moon had reared it head, the moon goddess had been cruel to Thorin that Full moon. Knowing it was to be his first shift, his father had ordered his alpha Unit to place him in a shifting cell, the amount of times he had imagined himself shifting, with his mother and father watching on proudly...Free, in the forest. His father had taken more then just his freedom away, he had taken his moment, his bond with his wolf was just not there. It was as if Fen had been feral, because technically he was, Wolves were supposed to remain dormant until the age of 16, their human counterparts always had access to their healing abilities, their sight, smell, and hearing but the first meeting was the first full moon after the child's 16th birthday. It was always a partial shift, where their human was gifted their full powers, without the agony of shifting. It was then that their bond was supposed to take effect, allowing them to become one, so that on the full moon of their 18th birthday their shift could be smoother, painful...but smooth. Thorin's trauma, the horror of seeing his father murder his mother in front of him, the pain of feeling their bond sever and his father's bond as well. And the bite...the bite of his mother's fox, see she was not a wolf, she was a Kitsune, deeply loved by her people dispute that fact. Thorin gazed down and stroked his bite scar absentmindedly, her bite had woken Fen from his slumber...pulled him forward against his will to protect his human counterpart. That is what his father said happened, by biting him, she had ruined him, tainted him. But Fen had always disagreed, he had come forth willingly to protect him, he had been woken by Thorin's anguish, by his pain. But dispute the Wolfs claims that he had come forward willingly, there was resentment there, Thorin could feel it. They had been denied their bond, and they were weaker for it, and Fen hated being weak. The sound of footsteps jerked him from his thoughts, his mouth began to water as he smelled fried chicken, the smell was off though, he felt a stir in his mind and looked in. Fen was docile, a ghost of himself, but he was definitely there, he was lending him his nose. "Poison" came a weak thought, but it was not his own. Jason was standing at the bars with a paper plate topped with a single price of fried chicken breast. "Hungry?" "Poison" Thorin's mouth watered and he reached for the plate, surprised when the man let him have it, he watched him for a moment then sat on a log next to the outdoor fire ring that he had noticed before. "Thought you were hungry?" his tone was nonchalant, but Thorin could feel him watching him closely. "I'm just a little nauseous," he said quickly, avoiding the man's eyes. "I don't feel very well still, think I might still have a fever." The man sniffed and shook his head, crossing his arms he leaned back, "no fever kiddo, try again?" "I really am nauseous." he said and pushed the plate back out under the crack of the cage The man only hummed in response and picked up the chicken, shoving it all in his mouth and chewing slowly, he made satisfied noises and Thorin groaned. "Sure you don't want some, you can have mine" Thorin searched his mind but Fen was once again silent. He nodded in response and the man picked up, his own plate and passed it through the bars to him. The boy shoveled the food into his mouth gratefully, and practically licked the plate clean. The man motioned for the plate and he reluctantly returned it to him, muttering a sheepish thanks before turning away and staring out at the forest once more. He was aware that the man didn't leave, he just sat there, not necessarily staring at him, but he could feel the occasional glance in his direction. It was just as dusk began to fall that he began to feel tiered, not the natural kind of tiered though, but rather the tiered that came with being dosed with wolfsbane. He heard the door open behind him and felt hands under his arms lifting him up. "Bring him by the fire Jason." Tyrs gruff voice came from the cabin and through his blurred vision he could see him making his way over to them. They unwrapped his bandages and laid him facedown on a waiting cot near the fire. He felt the wolfsbane, but also some form of sedative that made it so he was still conscious, but unable to move. They must have smelled his fear, he could smell it even without his wolf, "Your just fine son, we don't trust ya yet though so this is what we gotta do." Jason's voice was soft, understanding even, but Thorin knew that they where not his friends, everything that has happen was their fault. They don't care about us . He kept repeating to himself, he had to remember that, next time he wouldn't take their food, he couldn't trust them. Tyr began cleaning his back, small whimpers escaped Thorin's lips. Small tugs at his skin made him think that he was suturing. Tyr finished as the final rays of light faded behind the trees, they sat him up and Jason wrapped his chest and back in gauze again. They moved him back to his cage and laid him down gently, the only thing he could do was yell. So that's what he did, he screamed until his voice was hoarse, the night let him, and the creatures beyond the woods passed no judgement over him. He knew Jason was still be the fire, but then after a time, the fire went out, plunging him into utter darkness. Movement returned slowly, first to his fingers, then to his toes, wracked with small muscle spasms, he screamed even with his hoarse voice, venting his frustration to the moon goddess who he was sure was simply laughing. What was he really? a pitiful child in the midst of something so brutal that he could feel his mind splintering under the pressure. It felt like eternity before he was able to roll over, laying on his back was uncomfortable, but not painful. he remembered the first time he had seen his mother change, They had been in the woods by the lake with several other she-wolves and children. His mother took being a Luna very seriously, she always wished to be with her people, whether it be eating meals, or joining the other mother's by the lake and watching their children play. His best friend Tomas and him had been wrestling and then the other children had joined in, Thorin smiled as he remembered their mothers wolves had come to them, wrestling and rough housing with their pups, it filled him with such wonder. She-wolves of all shapes, sizes and colors had been playing with the kids, chasing them around, Tomas's mother had simply sat on her rambunctious child and licked his face while the boy screamed. It had been amusing, but it was then that he had asked why Mother never changed, he had never even felt his mother counterpart. Mother had always said that it was because she was one in the same, her beast was with her everyday, he had pleaded with her to play with him and finally she had relented. When she came from the bushes the she-Wolves has stopped playing with their children and bowed their heads, their offspring following suit. she was a massive fox, bigger then even the other kitsunes he had met before her, his father had said she had alpha blood in her veins. He had expected a wolf, but instead a gorgeous white and silver fox had stood before him. The fox had smiled at him and then pounced, he heard laughter from behind them and the festivities had resumed. "You are a fox." he had stated dumbly, she had only nodded. Her coat was soft, and he had tangled his fingers in it, stroking her face gently. His mother's fox had let him for a time, but then a streak of mischief had passed over her eyes and she nundged him backwards sending him sprawling in the shallows of the lake. He smiled gently at the memory, he had chased her around with the other children, her fox's laugh was contagious, with sharp yips and chuckles she had run around the lake with him and the other children. She was their Luna, dispute being a fox, she was so deeply loved by her people. Thorin pulled himself from his memories as he felt a presence nearby and looked around, It was still dark, even the cabin was dark now. Two sets of glowing ocean blue eyes stared at him from only a couple paces away. a small shiver went down his spine and he held his breath, the bars keeping him here were probably sting enough to hold back a wolf he reassured himself. but it did not stop the unease that traveled through him as he continued his staring contest with this mysterious being before him. "Who are you." he whispered, and then they were gone, he kicked himself internally, he might have just scared off his only chance of escape. whatever that thing was, it was clearly a shifter, but what was it doing here? he sighed as he felt rain drops land on his bare shoulders. of course it would rain now...that was just his luck now wasn't it.
