Thorin was miserable, he supposed he wasn't supposed to be happy, but he actually couldn't remember a time where he hated his life so much. The rain had been non stop throughout the night, cold, wet, and miserable he sat in his mud pit cage shivering and staring out at the woods. He was waiting, perhaps the stranger would return tonight, he just had to get through the day, and then maybe they would return and free him. He didn't know how to drive a car but he could figure it out, he was tall for his age so he could reach the peddles just fine.
It wasn't till about noon, when the sun was high in the sky and the clouds cleared that Jason came out to the cages. Thorin hadn't said a word to him, didn't even look in his direction as the man had busied himself chopping wood for the fire. He hadn't slept the night before, and he wasn't going to sleep now, he knew that he couldn't afford to sleep, there was no telling what the would do. He used his time to try to master his heart rate, it was an attempt to get the wolfsbane out of his system , although he wasn't sure if it worked like that or not, he had nothing else to go on though.
He learned he could trigger himself by thinking of his mother's body being torn apart by his father, that got his heart rate up on no time, but the emotional toll was terrible for him and it left him feeling drained and helpless. Dinner time rolled around and he felt dread creeping in as he watched Jason bring a bowl of stew across to him. everything was too wet for a fire, so instead he just sat on the stump nearby and read a book. The internal battle raged, his body wanted that food, but his mind knew if had wolfsbane in it, he watched from the back of his cell as the steam slowly stopped rising from the bowl and it went cold.
Jason seemed unbothered by this and after a while just took the bowl back inside, he let out a weary sigh and leaned his head back against the bars staring out once again into the forest. it would be dark in a couple of hours, Jason and Tyr would be asleep and the shifter would come back to save him. The first signs of Fen was when he felt his ears perk up at the sound of the screen door closing, their timing was impeccable really...it was like they had kept a werewolf child captive before and knew his wolf was stirring. That thought alone left a bad taste in his mouth, but he shook it off as the two men approached his cage.
"What's up?" he asked
Jason opened his cage and knelt in front of him looking real serious. He held a glass of water in one hand and a small round pill in the other.
"Choices."
"Fun." he mumbled, but he felt his dry mouth and so desperately wanted to snatch it out of his hand, during the rain storm he had caught whatever water he could in his mouth and hands but it was not enough.
"Take this pill like a good lad and you get to sleep inside tonight." He perked up at this, "inside were?"
Jason nodded in the direction of the long cabin, "There is a bed, and you can get a shower."
"if I don't?"
"We will hold you down and shove this down your throat, I don't want to give you anymore injections, those are dangerous to your wolf, and despite what you may believe I don't want to harm you or your wolf anymore then I have to."
He wanted so desperately to take that deal, but the consequences of swallowing that pull would be that Fen would stay weak, and Thorin needed him more then ever right now. He sized the 2 men up, they would probably win and shove it down his throat anyway. Suddenly it dawned on him, he could fake it, he came to a decision and reached out to take the glass of water and pill from Jason. He stared at the pill for a moment before popping it in his mouth, then chugged the whole glass of water while cheeking the pill. Jason nodded and held out his hand for the glass which Thorin gave back without a fuss.
But then they closed the door behind them, he was up at the bars in an instant, "Wait, I did what you f*****g wanted!" he yelled, despite being behind bars somehow Tyr still managed to land a solid backhand to his face. Stumbling back he rubbed his cheek, Jason was staring at him with arms crossed "You where close, but not sneaky enough, you can spit that pill."His face heated with embarrassment and he spit the pill on the ground. "We will try again tomorrow."
Thorin watched as the man walked across the clearing and disappeared into the cabin again. He stared after them for a while before the familiar feeling of Wolfsbane crept into his system. He threw back his head and laughed manically as the realization hit him, somehow they where always a step ahead, it hadn't been the pill, it was the water.
As the moon rose his hunger crept in leaving his stomach rumbling louder then his continuous yells of frustration as he shook the bars of his cage. If he couldn't sleep then they wouldn't sleep either he decided, the night was not quiet as far as he was concerned, as the moon reached its peak the lights to the cabin flickered on and he laughed wickedly as Jason and Tyr strode across the clearing to his cage, "If I don't sleep then neither do you." He yelled, his hands where wrapped around the bars so tightly his knuckles where white, he felt like his sanity was slipping away, but he was past caring. He had been awake for so long now, he actually couldn't remember the last time he slept. Jason opened the cage and Tyr stepped up to grab him, but he was feeling quick. lashing out with his foot, his blow would have landed on the man's shin...if his wolf had been awake. Instead Tyr caught his foot and punched him in the face, hard.
He fell to the ground with a grunt, pain pulsed from his already swollen jaw. He clawed at Tyrs hands as the man pinched his nose forcing him to breath through his mouth, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he felt something drop in the back of his throat and he gagged repeatedly, trying to keep it from going down. Jason held his hands down and Tyr held his mouth closed, they stayed like that for a time, it was a stalemate it seemed, but as his muscles weekend, he understood that the pill had to be absorbed through the gums, so swallowing it wasn't actually necessary. Tyr lowered him to the ground, and let him drop the rest of the way, "You bastards." he slurred, it was the first and last time he got away without a smack to the face.
"Gotta be one step ahead kiddo." Jason winked at him, and then they were gone.
The lights to the cabin flicked off and he was left in the dark again, teetering on the edge of consciousness. "sleep" a familiar voice in his head urged softly, listening to the sounds of the nocturnal creatures, he did just that, falling into restless dreams that he didn't understand.
Visitor's POV
The fox watched from the woods as the 2 men held down the boy and then dropped him on the floor of that disgusting kennel. Her mouth drew back in a snarl, "Wolven men are all the same." The voice in her head snarled, her tail lashed back and forth in anger. "He's our age Vida, how can they treat him like that."
"He is your age little one, I am much older then you." The voice purred in her ear. She rolled her eyes and crept forward. "Care, little cub, if they treat him like that how do you think they will treat us." Her fox was right, but that didn't stop her, she had been drawn here for a reason, and as she watched the boy struggle to remain conscious she knew that he was the reason.
"We must free him Vida."
"And go were? he is injured and reeks of wolfsbane, that child is not fit to run from 2 full grown werewolves, and neither are we!" Vida's voice was so angry that she flinched.
She felt Vida, sooth her words with a sigh, "I am sorry, but we cannot do anything for him right now, let him get stronger, and in the meantime we will devise a plan...yes?"
Not answering her Fox she approached the kennel and for the first time got a good look at him, largely built for his age his muscles were well defined dispute his current condition. He wore only shorts and his back was a mess of dirty bandages, she could see they were bloody, whatever that wound was from it was large, and would scar him deeply even with the healing of a wolf. His face was sharp with a chiseled jaw, the top of his forehead was slicked with sweat and his wavy black hair stuck in many different directions.
"Handsome young lad, I'm sure he'd clean up nicely." Vida purred and she felt herself blush internally. Reaching out her muzzle she touched her nose to him through the bars of the kennel, he was warm, almost too warm. Was he sick? or maybe it was just a werewolf thing. Suddenly his eyes shot open, and they stared at each other, her nose remained on his arm, she didn't dare move. His eyes where beautiful, with deep shades of blue, they where darker towards the center and a mixture of light blues towards the edges with light shades of gold intertwining.
"Are you real?" he whispered,
Her heart broke for him, his voice was soft and childlike, but also smooth and deep. He seemed to be on the cusp of adulthood at only the age of 6. "How is that possible Vida?" she asked, "Trauma" Vida's voice was sad, "It is unusual but not unheard of, this boy has shifted fully, Werewolves are not meant to do that, the power and the shift alone can sometimes drive them to insanity." the fox was quiet for a time, and she could feel her fox taking in this boy. "It appears you both may have a lot in common."
"What do you mean by that?" she asked, but Vida did not respond.
Turning her attention back to the boy she gave his arm a small lick and tried to back away, but he moved to stop her. Quickly and gently cupping her face in his hands, he ran his fingers through her fur and a small smile pulled at his lips. "I knew I wasn't crazy." He whispered Then he slouched back, as if all of his strength left him, they sat in silence for a bit, his beautiful eyes distant, suddenly his hands dropped from her face. His eyes held a coldness as he looked at her, she was startled by this sudden change. "Go away, NOW."
She backed up quickly, stumbling away from him, what had happened? In an instant he had shifted from a pitiful boy to Alpha commanding HER? she snorted in offense and without another look raced away through the trees, her black tipped tail streaming behind her as she darted silently through the trees. "I told you little cub...all Wolven men are the same." Vida's voice was cold and void of emotions, and she couldn't help but agree.
