The Legend

Tyr's wolf was in his nightmares, he had seen that beast before but he just couldn't think of where. Restless dreams and pain, that was all he knew, Fen stayed with him but only just, he was weakened considerably after the fight and since being chained to the stake that night he hadn't been the same. Sitting by the lake Thorin studied his wolf, "I think you have not been honest with me Fen." The beast did not look at him, only flicked his ear in response, "Why is Tyr in our nightmares, we hadn't seen his wolf until the other day, but you recognized him." "You know that not all wolves are born as simple creatures..." Fen's yellow eyes bore into his blue ones, "Sometimes, there are wolves that are born into humans, that have had a previous life... reincarnation if you will." "You are one such wolf." Thorin finished, The scene changed suddenly and Fen stood up, "We are special Thorin, but there are many wolves involved in this story, and some non-wolves." It was snowing, Thorin lifted a hand and felt the snowflakes melt upon his flesh, "This place..." Fen nodded "yes, this place is important, to me as much as it is to you, my mother...your mother's fox, Her name was Loki." There were small alarm bells going off in his head as Fen changed before him, growing until he was the size of an grizzly bear, "My true name is Fenrir, and yes I have lived before...or at least a part of me has." Thorin covered his ears at Fenrir's booming voice in his head, "I did not know it until that night however." "What changed?" "Mother's bite, reignited my memories, so technically our father was correct...it was her fault." Thorin felt the weight of this knowledge settle like a stone in the pit of his belly, "Do Tyr and Jason know?" "That is why they keep us here...but I will admit, I do not understand their intentions as of now." Fenrir sat down in the snow and looked up at the sky. "I have met Tyr's before though, he was my most trusted friend...and my enemy." "What happened?" A sadness crept into the Wolfs eyes and he shook his head, "I do not know, as I said, I am a reincarnation of sorts...but I don't remember my old life all that well, just bits and pieces." "I think we had best wake up though Thorin...There are more answers out there, then in here." With a nod Fenrir was gone and Thorin's eyes shot open. "Tyr!" he yelled out, his voice was backed by Fenrir's, the house shook from the force of it. Jason strolled in several moments later, followed by Tyr. "We need to talk I think." Thorin stated calmly, he had avoided looking at his leg until then, and even just glancing at it made him angry, it was in a cast, propped up on pillows, his other leg was strapped to the bed and he had several bandages on his abdomen still. Shaking off the initial shock he returned his gaze to the two men who waited expectantly for him to talk. "Fenrir told me...or at least told me the gist of it." Jason's eyebrows shot up, Tyr remained expressionless as ever. "He doesn't remember all of his old life, He is a reincarnation, but it seems that you and Fenrir have some unfinished business Tyr." Tyr looked at him levelly, "No." he responded, "Not anymore." The big man sighed, "Our relationship was complicated, it was like it is now, I as the captor...Fenrir as my prisoner, but also my friend." "What happened?" "I helped him escape...and in turn the king had witches kill my wolf " Jason took a seat in the corner of the room and Tyr pulled up a stool, " But I saw your wolf, I fought him." Tyr looked out the window with an expression that looked almost like sadness. "I can still shift...but my wolf, my other half, is gone." for the first time since getting here Tyr looked him right in the eyes, and didn't seem to be studying him. "His name was Tyr, now I only posses his empty shell, The Moon Goddess therefore does not recognize me as one of her children." That realization hit like a brick, It meant that he would never be able to receive a goddess gifted mate, never would his rank be recognized, never would a pack accept him. He would never know the joy of living with a pack as part of a pack, because his wolf was gone, killed, and he wore his wolfed body like a suit of armor. Jason spoke up from where he sat in the corner of the room, "Things are more complicated then just that though Thorin, People want Fenrir dead, they will hunt you both down...that's why your father brought you to us." He snorted with laughter, "Right so that Tyr the wolf who betrayed us, and some wannabe alpha can keep the wolves at bay." Anger filled him as he motioned to his leg, "You can't even control yourself without a wolf present constantly trying to take over and you still broke my f*****g leg." Tyr's eyes flashed with annoyance, "I was in my right mind when I did that to you, we may be on the same page now but we are not allies or friends for that matter." He got up and leaned over his bed so that they were almost nose to nose. "I suggest you read up on what you beast did before you go taking his side." He dropped a book in his lap and left the room. Jason got up to follow but stopped in the doorway of the room, "Your little fox was asking after you, I don't suppose you know anything about what her fox is to your wolf do you?" Thorin was confused by that question, "She is his mate, but we are like seven so...." Jason rubbed his forehead and sighed, "Read the damn book." he snapped and slammed the door behind him. This was a new side to both men, they seemed genuinely frustrated, and everything seemed much more urgent now, it was as if they were running out of time. Picking up the book he turned it over, "The Original wolves" Sighing he opened the book and began to read, before Fenrir had come to him, he had always had difficulty reading, but now he had no problems as he flipped through the pages. According to the Wolven legends, the Moon Goddess Selene had created three original werewolves Odin, Hoenir, and Lodurr, her children, each child was given a mate made for specifically for them, Their "Goddess Gifted Mate." Odin was given Frigga, Lodurr was given a she- wolf named Asker, and Hoenir was given Embla. Frigga and Odin had two sons Baldur and Hod, the packs grew and thrived for a century. Until one day Selene created a fourth wolf, Loki, Thorin's eyes widened as he read. The Moon Goddess did not give Loki a mate as she had done the others, she wandered as a rogue until she met Odin, she was immediately in love, but he had his mate already. Loki asked the Moon Goddess to make Odin her mate, but Selene refused, Loki was a trickster, she was clever and cruel. Knowing that Odin would never take her as his mate if she killed Frigga, she decided to kill Frigga another way. Their son Baldur was a strong wolf, almost invincible and as he grew he became the strongest wolf in all the land. Odin and Frigga threw a ball one day, to try to find their son's fated mate, but also to show the kingdom that their son truly could not be harmed. As the party began wolves began to throw daggers at Baldur to try and Peirce his flesh, but every dagger simply glanced off of his impenetrable skin. Loki had watched him for years, and although he was invincible to most everything, he was weak to mistletoe. She had a witch fashion a dagger made from mistletoe, and when it came time for Hod to throw a dagger, she switched the blades. Hod's blade pierced Baldur's heart he died in Frigga's arms. Odin overwhelmed with anger and grief, took Hod's eyes and banished him, days later Frigga died from heartbreak...the loss of her children was too much to bare. At last Loki was able to court Odin, but the Goddess had other plans, she gifted him another mate named Grid. Knowing that Loki would stop at nothing to get Odin to be her mate, the moon goddess created a mate just for Loki, Boda. Odin and Grid had one child Vidar, Loki and Boda had three Children Fenrir, Jormun, and Hel, and for a time everyone was at peace. Until one day the witch who had helped Loki to fashion the dagger came forward and told Odin what Loki had done. Odin and Loki's packs went to war, and during that war, Odin murdered her mate Boda. Loki in turn killed Grid. When the war was over many wolves had been killed and Selene the Moon Goddess wept for her fallen children, angry with Loki for what she had done she cursed her, taking away her wolf she turned Loki into a fox. Loki was chased from her pack, after all she was no longer a wolf. For many years Loki roamed, alone and heartbroken until one day she found Vidar in the forest playing. Deciding to hurt Odin one last time, she bit Vidar, turning her into a Fox, Odin could not stand to look at his daughter who now looked like the woman who had murdered his mates. Odin banished Vidar from the pack, desperate to get revenge she went on a rampage and murdered Loki's two oldest son's, Jorman and Hel. She however could not bring herself to harm Fenrir who was just a child. Lost and broken Vidar faded away, and Fenrir grew up with a blinding hatred of Odin, his hatred and loss made him strong, so strong that he just kept growing, he was a fierce beast who had a temper. When he got old enough he attempted to kill Odin but failed, instead of killing him he took Fenrir prisoner, and tortured him everyday. They bound him and Tyr was his guard, even though Fenrir was a prisoner, he, over time came to trust Tyr, and the two became friends. One day Fenrir tricked Tyr, he pretended to fall Ill. Tyr, worried about his charge unbound the beast, Fenrir escaped leaving Tyr to face the wrath of Odin. Thorin stared at the end page in horror, the picture showed a massive wolf standing over the body of another bound in chains and a fox tearing out it's throat, in the caption is said "Vidar kills Fenrir after he kills Odin." He sat there for a long time, holding the book, "What the hell did I just read? he asked Fenrir, "A shorter version of a heartbreaking story." The wolf said sadly and then retreated into the back of his mind. Thorin's head hurt from all of this new information, if what they where saying was true, that would mean that Fenrir was an ancient wolf and his mother was Loki...their mother was Loki, and original werewolf. laughter bubbled up at his lips and he threw his head back as it escaped, it was too rediculous, too much of a stretch, his wolf was insane and so was everyone who believed this book. He hurled the book across the room and took deep breaths as his laughter became tears and his tears became hiccupping sobs. He was so confused, He was seven years old, and had just found his Fated mate...his Fated mate was a Kitsune...a fox like his mother had been. And they where both being held prisoner by two alpha's who believed a bedtime story was their reality. After what felt like forever his tears dried up leaving him hiccupping and hugging his pillow. "Jason?" The door opened, it was as if the man had been standing on the other side, which looking at the chair In the hallway it appeared that he had been."What does all of this have to do with the here and now?" The man ran his hand over his head and came in taking up the seat next to his bed. "You may be too young to know this but things are bad right now kiddo, The Wolf Kong recently just murdered over two hundred Kitsune, several packs have been decimated, bloodlines have been completely wiped out." Thorin felt his breath catch as he heard this, especially the part about the Kitsune, he thought about Wren, was that why she was here? "On the night of December 5th Seven Years ago, the new Wolf King took the throne after his father was mysteriously assassinated." Thorin shook his head angrily, "I don't understand." That was the day he was born. "We think that the Wolf King's Wolf, is Odin." Tyr appeared in the doorway suddenly, his eyes were boring into Thorin's soul, and he felt Fenrir surface. "You wish us to kill him." The wolf said quietly, his tone thoughtful and almost amused by the idea. "We believe it is why you where reborn, Brought back in the body of young Thorin." Thorin felt his wolf chuckle, and he was disturbed by the Fenrir's lust to slaughter the king, his hatred of him. "I will do it, as I have done it time and time before, the outcome will be the same." Thorin shoved Fenrir, trying to take back control but the wolf nearly pushed him effortlessly into the back of his mind "Do not interrupt me boy." Thorin was stunned, never had Fen done such a thing, he didn't like it and was frankly scared of this behavior. "Thorin is your biggest concern not me, I will do what ai do best, I will slaughter them all." Thorin gave one last forceful shove and he felt Fenrir recede, laughing as he went, but an evil kind of laughter. He stared at Tyr with wide eyes, and for the first time he felt afraid of his wolf, it was as if Thorin finally being looped into all of this had allowed the wolf free rein, as if he no longer cared about being nice to Thorin. Fear turned to anger as he looked in at his wolf, "That was too far." He stated firmly, but Fenrir simply chuckled in laughter and by all appearances went to sleep tucked away in his mind. He nodded as he came to a decision. "Do you happen to have anymore of those wolfsbane pills?"
