Tommy showed up with his agent in Bailey’s office a few weeks later to go over terms of the whopping contract before signing it. He couldn’t help but stare at the World-Series trophy sitting tall on a shelf behind the general manager.
Bailey looked over his shoulder to see what Tommy was fixated on. “Oh, the trophy is just on loan in my office,” he said almost apologetically. “The team owner wants everyone to get some time with it before he parks it in his office.”
