THE WOLF WITHIN HER

The night the future of the werewolf world changed, the moon turned red. A Blood Moon hung over the hidden realm of Moonridge, bathing the forests, mountains, and villages in an eerie crimson glow. Wolves howled from every corner of the kingdom as if they sensed that something extraordinary was about to happen. Inside the grand Blackwood Palace, excitement filled the air. The Alpha King, Alexander Blackwood, paced outside the royal birthing chamber. For years, he and his mate, Luna Isabella, had waited for a child. The entire kingdom awaited the arrival of the future heir. "The Moon Goddess has blessed this night," an elder said. Alexander nodded, though his heart pounded with anxiety. Then a cry echoed through the palace. A baby's cry. The chamber doors opened. A healer emerged with a smile. "Congratulations, Alpha King. It's a girl." Relief flooded Alexander's face. His daughter had arrived. At that exact moment, miles away in the poorest part of Moonridge, another child was being born. The small wooden cottage belonging to Thomas and Grace Rivers stood at the edge of the forest. Unlike the palace, there were no celebrations. No guards. No servants. Only a struggling omega couple welcoming their first child. The baby girl arrived safely just as the Blood Moon reached its brightest point. And then something impossible happened. A beam of silver light descended from the moon. It slipped through the cottage window and wrapped around the newborn. The room glowed. Grace gasped. Thomas nearly fell backward. The baby opened her tiny eyes. For a brief moment, her eyes shone silver. A crescent-shaped mark appeared on her shoulder before fading beneath her skin. The old midwife dropped to her knees. "The Moon Goddess..." she whispered. Before anyone could speak again, the light disappeared. The baby yawned peacefully. Silence filled the room. No one understood what they had witnessed. But far away, deep inside the sacred Moon Temple, an ancient crystal suddenly cracked. The temple elders rushed toward it. Their faces turned pale. "The prophecy..." one elder whispered. "It has begun." --- A violent storm struck Moonridge before dawn. Lightning flashed across the sky. Rain hammered rooftops. The roads became dangerous. At Blackwood Palace, chaos erupted when part of the healing wing lost power. Healers hurried newborns to safer rooms. Among them was a young apprentice healer named Emily. She carried two infant girls. One wrapped in royal silver blankets. The other wrapped in simple white cloth. The storm intensified. A powerful tremor shook the palace. Emily stumbled. The babies nearly slipped from her arms. Panicking, she rushed into the nearest nursery and laid them down. Only after the storm passed did she realize her mistake. The identification tags were gone. Her hands trembled. "No..." She stared at the two sleeping babies. Both looked similar. Both had dark hair. Both were newborn girls. Emily searched desperately for clues. There were none. Fear gripped her heart. If she admitted what happened, she could be imprisoned or even executed for negligence involving the Alpha's heir. Terrified, she made a decision that would haunt her for years. She remained silent. --- The next morning, the babies left the palace. One traveled home as the future princess of Moonridge. The other returned to a poor cottage as the daughter of omega farmers. No one knew the truth. Not the Alpha King. Not the Luna Queen. Not the families. Not even the children themselves. Years passed. The girl raised in luxury grew spoiled and arrogant. She became known as Vivian Blackwood, the supposed future Alpha of Moonridge. Meanwhile, the true heir grew up gathering firewood, washing clothes, and helping her parents survive. Her name was Evelyn Rivers. Though poor, she possessed a kindness that made everyone who met her feel at peace. Yet strange things often happened around her. Animals obeyed her without fear. Wounded wolves healed faster in her presence. And every full moon, she dreamed of a silver wolf standing upon a mountain of moonlight. The wolf always spoke the same words. "You are not who you believe you are." As Evelyn grew older, the dreams became stronger. So did the power sleeping inside her. A power hidden since birth. A power capable of shaking the entire werewolf world. And when it finally awakened, kings would kneel. Alphas would bow. And those who once treated her as nothing would discover that the girl they ignored was the Moon Goddess' chosen heir. The true Moonborn Alpha.
