In the Miller Building, “Aria, you can't marry him.” My mum said, “Mum, this is who I want. I thought you said I could do what I want?”I said. “Yes, baby. Anything, anyone but not him,” my mum replied. “I will marry him, Mum, and there's nothing anyone can do about it!” I said as i left the room. My phone rang; it was my friend, Amy. “Hey, are you still coming?” Amy asked loudly. “I'm sorry, Amy, I can't come today,” I said, almost crying. “Is there a problem? Talk to me,”Amy said in a low voice. “I'm losing my mind, Amy. Mum just said I can't marry Derek. She said I can't...”I said, finally crying out. “Calm down, Aria. You really need to take it easy on yourself,” Amy said. “For how long? How long will I do this for, Amy? I will marry him, and nothing will stop me,” I said and I ended the call. Two days later... I was getting dressed for our special date night, feeling very nervous. I had been looking forward to this night for weeks, and I was finally going to say yes to the love of my life. I couldn't believe it was happening. Amy had secretly informed me about the proposal so I could dress well and come with a prepared mind. I took my time getting ready, choosing a red dress that hugged my curves and complemented my skin tone. I styled my hair in loose waves and applied a light touch of makeup. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I felt butterflies in my stomach, wondering what the night would bring. I couldn't wait to see my partner and spend the night together, knowing that we would be taking the next step in our relationship. I smiled in anticipation as I put on my makeup. I watched myself in the mirror after dressing up, I looked at myself one more time in the mirror before going out. "What a beauty," I said to myself, smiling as I walked towards the door. My mum saw me walking out and asked, "Where are you going, beautiful?" I smiled back and replied, "To Amy's. We have dinner to attend." I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I was going to see Derek. I wasn't ready to spoil the night again. I took a deep breath and walked out, feeling a mix of excitement and guilt. As I made my way to Amy's, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if my mum found out. But I quickly pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the night ahead. I knew it was going to be a special one, and I didn't want anything to ruin it. I brought out my phone to call Derek, eager to hear his voice before the dinner. The phone rang, but there was no response. I tried again, but it went straight to voicemail. I shrugged and thought to myself, “He must be preparing for tonight.” I smiled, feeling excited. What was he doing? Was he as nervous as I was? I tried not to overthink it and continued on my way to Amy's. As I walked, I couldn't help but check my phone every few minutes, hoping for a call or message from Derek. But as the minutes passed, I realized that he might be caught up with something else. I took a deep breath and reminded myself that tonight was about us, and nothing could ruin that. Some minutes later, my phone rang. I saw that it was Amy calling, but I hesitated to pick up. I knew she would ask why I was late, and I wasn't ready to explain myself. But then the phone rang again, and I decided to answer. “Hey, Amy, I'm on my way. Sorry for being late,” I said, hoping to smooth things over. But then Amy's voice came over the line, and it was clear that something was wrong. “No, Aria. You don't have to come here again,” she said, her voice shaking. “Why? I'm on my way already. In a few minutes, I will be there,”I replied, confused. “Aria... Derek is dead,” Amy said suddenly. My heart stopped, and I felt a wave of disbelief wash over me. “What?” I shouted, not wanting to believe what I was hearing. “He had an accident this evening, and he didn't make it,”Amy said, her voice breaking. I could hear her almost crying, and I knew that she was just as shocked and devastated as I was. It was too much to process, and I felt like I was in a daze. How could this be happening? How could Derek be gone? At that moment, I felt like my world was crumbling. My whole world was falling apart, and I couldn't bring myself to understand what had happened. Derek? Why? I called Amy back, my voice shaking. “Hello Amy, where are you? Who told you?” I asked, desperate for answers. “I'm at his place. Don't come here, Aria. Please don't,” Amy said, her voice barely above a whisper. I felt a lump form in my throat and tears well up in my eyes. “What's going on? Is Derek okay?” I asked, my voice trembling. Amy hesitated before speaking. “I'm so sorry, Aria. Derek's gone. He's dead,” she said, her voice breaking. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Derek, my Love was gone. I felt like I was in a daze, unable to process the news. I hung up the phone and started the car, my mind racing with thoughts of Derek and what could have happened. As I drove, I noticed a car speeding towards me, and I quickly pressed the brakes and swerved to avoid it. But then, out of nowhere, another car appeared, and I didn't have time to react. The next thing I knew, everything went black, and that was all I remembered.
