Xavier's POV
I woke up very early the next morning to Ethan's text. He said, “The spare key is in one of the drawers in the office.” I immediately called him back, and he picked up the phone on the third trial.
“Good morning, boss,” he greeted me.
I wanted to check how he was doing, so I asked, “Hope you're good?” even though that wasn't the main reason for my call.
“Yes, boss,” he replied.
I searched the entire office and couldn't find the key. Doubting if it was the only possible place, I asked, “Are you sure it can only be in the office?” Hoping for a different answer.
“No, boss. The key has to be in the office,” he assured me.
“Alright, I'll have to give it another look,” I said.
Curious about his delay, I asked, “Why aren't you here yet?”
“Something came up,” he explained.
