“I think I like her,” he said, and I looked at him in disbelief.
“You like her? Like, you really like her? The kind of love that can lead to a relationship? For real, Ethan?” I asked, still surprised.
“Yes,” he answered.
“Hello, are you there?” I said playfully.
“I'm not even joking,” he said.
“I know, I'm just surprised,” I replied, still smiling.
“I don't really know much about her. She seems like a good person,” I said in a serious tone.
“I know she's a good person. What I really want to know is if she already has someone. I wouldn't want to put her in that difficult position,” Ethan said.
