“Who are these people again?” I asked Ethan, feeling scared.
“Just calm down, ma'am,” he replied, trying to reassure me.
“Calm down? Why and how do you expect me to calm down?” I asked, my voice getting louder.
“They wouldn't dare touch you,” he said confidently, trying to ease my worries.
“And if they do?” I asked, my anxiety growing.
“They won't, just be calm,” he assured me.
“Calm? Okay, I'm calm,” I said, dialing Xavier's number, hoping for help.
We sat in the car for what felt like an eternity. The car didn't budge, the door remained closed.
“What is really happening here? Can't we move the car?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“We can, but we won't, ma'am,” he replied, his smile sending chills down my spine.
