“F***!” I muttered under my breath as I heard the door open. I stood there, shocked and unable to turn back. I had to decide whether to run or face her.
“Who are you?” she asked, grabbing a piece of cloth to cover herself.
I had no choice but to turn back, but before I could…
“Xavier? Is that you?” she exclaimed, finally turning on the light.
Before I could fully turn, I heard quick footsteps behind me and immediately spun around. I could still see the shock in her eyes.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, still surprised.
“To address an important issue,” I replied with a serious expression.
“And what is that?” she asked, her expression blank. I hated not being able to understand her thoughts or feelings due to her rapid mood swings.
Before I could reply, she quickly went towards the cloth shelf where I had been standing earlier and found the pack of chocolate.
“Wait… you've been here since I came in?” she asked, coming closer to me, her eyes wide open in surprise.
“Oh my God, you locked me in here, and you still think you can barge in and out of my room as you please?” she said, this time with anger.
“Young lady, you're not locked in here. I'm protecting you from danger,” I fired back immediately.
“Protection?” she scoffed. “I don't need your protection,” she added.
I walked towards her, feeling my heart beat faster as I approached. I stood in front of her and without looking into her eyes, I closed the distance between us and removed the pieces of cloth from her body, exposing the wounds on her thigh.
“Are you sure you don't need protection?” I said, pointing to the wound.
She stood there, unable to say anything. For a moment, all I could hear was her heartbeat and mine, pounding loudly.
“It's not your business,” she said, walking away.
I quickly walked towards her and grabbed her hand.
“It is and will always be as long as you are under my roof, and you are my wife,” I said, almost shouting.
She turned towards me and I looked into her deep brown eyes, at her beautiful face. I could see her blossoming through the transparent top she was wearing, and I felt a thirst for her.
I released her from my grip and looked at her from head to toe, and then back again. I walked towards the door.
“How long do I want to keep doing this?” she asked, making me stop in my tracks.
“Just do as you're told from now onwards,” I said.
“And what if I don’t?” I could hear her footsteps as she came closer to me.
“It’s not a request, it’s an order.” I said, walking to the door.
As I was about to grab the door knob, she suddenly held my hands, and before I could know what was happening, I felt her lips on mine.
It came too sudden at first, I pulled her away from me with force and looked into her eyes, she looked away immediately and looked down.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.” She said in a very low voice as she turned to walk away.
As she was about to take the second step, I pulled her by the waist swiftly as she made a soft landing on my chest. And without hesitation, I leaned in closer and I kissed her softly. And as if, she had been expecting this, she kissed me back fast and rough. I could feel my heart beat faster, my body was yearning for more of her.
But I controlled myself still, I couldn’t do something like this now, not yet with her. I started losing control of myself, she was lost already and so was I.
My hands were making rough movements and hers were too, we both pulled out pacing heavily, looking deeply into each other’s eyes.
We pulled in into each other again And we continued with the kiss, this time faster but more gentle. I placed my hands on her waist, and immediately she pulled out of the kiss, she took a step backwards.
“You were on your way out earlier, boss,” she said, walking away from me to open the door wide and walking back to me.
I opened my eyes wide in shock, “this girl” I said under my breath.
I walked closer to her, “I might decide to stay when you decide to eat.” I said, picking up the pack of chocolate from the floor. I walked towards the door and closed the door. Immediately, I opened the door back.
“And, F*** you,” I said, slamming the door hard.
As I walked along the walkway back to my room, I looked at the pack of chocolate in my hands, and I found myself smiling unknowingly.
“Why this girl? I don’t like the effect she has on me but still, I find myself very distracted whenever I’m around her, I lose control of my attitude when I’m with her and I don’t have that.”
And I don't like that. As I walked to my room, Ethan rushed towards me with a file. I stopped to listen, even though I didn't want him around.
He caused all this mess. If he hadn't told me about her, I wouldn't have gone to see her. He caught his breath and said,
“Boss, they've been found” I was confused and asked,
“Who? The landsmen?” He replied, “No boss, the people responsible for the shootings on your wedding day.”
Just as I was about to respond, my phone rang. Ethan pulled it out and handed it to me. It was my brother, saying, “We need to move now or never.”
