Chapter 010

1072 Words
Xavier’s POV Two days later, It's been two days since she arrived, two days without seeing her. I made a promise to myself not to get close to her until I find the person responsible for everything that happened on our wedding day and make sure they pay for it. I heard a loud knock on the door and wondered who it could be. I stood up and walked towards the door and opened it, and as I suspected, it was Ethan. “Where's your key?” I asked, walking back to the chair. “I'll look for it,” he replied, walking towards the table where the files were. “Good because otherwise, you might lose a toe,” I said, sitting on the chair across from the bed. He continued arranging the files, and I couldn't help but remember that he was the one with Aria. The urge to ask him about her arose, but I tried to push it back and focus on what I was doing on the laptop. As Ethan passed in front of me, my eyes caught sight of a crinkled nylon tucked away in his pocket. It looked like something edible as I tried to look further, I wanted to know what it was. “You eat on duty now?” I exclaimed. “No, boss,” he replied, but I could see the confusion on his face. I walked towards him, took the nylon from his pocket, and found a chocolate inside. “This?” I asked, walking back. “It was…” he tried to explain. “Get out of my sight!” I angrily interrupted him. Just as he was about to reach the door, he turned back, and I could tell he had something to say. “What?” I snapped without looking at him. “She is…” he started to say, but I cut him off again, saying, “Get out of my sight!” He nodded and continued towards the door. As I stared at my laptop, the urge to hear what he had to say grew stronger. “What happened to her?” I asked loudly, and he immediately stopped in his tracks and turned to speak. “She had refused to eat,” he said almost immediately. “Why?” I asked, still focused on my laptop. “She just refused to. I had to take that one away from her too,” he said, pointing to the pack of chocolate I had taken from his pocket. “Since when?” I asked, my eyes still fixed on the laptop, unable to process anything. My mind was already consumed by what Ethan was saying. “Two days ago,” he replied promptly. “What?” I exclaimed, raising my head to look at him. “And you're just telling me now?” I added angrily. “I tried to, but…” he began. “Get out of my sight,” I said, anger coursing through me. I attempted to continue with my work, but I couldn't focus. Focus, Xavier. “She'll manage, she isn’t a kid” I murmured to myself. However, it wasn't working. I couldn't bear it any longer. I grabbed the pack of chocolate and opened the door to return it to its rightful owner. It was already late, and darkness filled the surroundings. The air was chilly, and distant voices of men echoed in the distance. I walked through the hallway and reached the other part of the stairs. Ethan was nowhere to be found, but I noticed another guy sitting in a corner, watching her room from afar. “Thank your stars, Ethan,” I whispered. I arrived at her door and knocked, but there was no response. I knocked again and there was still no response. As I reached for the doorknob, I stopped as I didn't know what to do. Should I call her out? Should I send Ethan to go in and call her to my room? Or should I just go in? I thought to myself. Without hesitation, I grabbed the doorknob and the door flew open. I entered the room for the first time, everything was neatly arranged, and the strong strawberry smell was over the room. I looked around and noticed she wasn't there. “Where could she have gone?” I whispered. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching the door. Panic set in as I desperately searched for a hiding spot. I wasn't ready to face her, not now, not anymore. As she entered the room, she was on a call with someone. I could see her bright smile from afar, hidden behind a shelf. “Don't say that, I love you so much,” she said, lying on the bed. At those words, my heart tightened. “Love? Who could she be talking to?” I thought angrily. She ended the call and stood up, walking towards the mirror next to the bed. She lifted her jacket slightly, revealing a flowery short gown that accentuated her figure. I watched as she reached for a bottle of spirits and some cotton wool from a box. “Is she injured?” I wondered to myself. She pulled the gown up to clearly see her thighs well, and I noticed a wound at the back of her thigh, slightly below her bum. “She's injured? Ethan, you're in trouble,” I whispered. She gritted her teeth as she applied the spirit to the wound. Frustrated with holding the dress with one hand, she took off the gown completely, and the light reflected on her body. I couldn't look away. The pack of chocolate slipped from my hands, creating a sound that interrupted me, and I quickly hid behind another shelf. She didn't seem to hear the sound as she focused on cleaning her wound. At that moment, I wasn't ready to speak again. I needed a way to leave the room. I reached into my pocket for my phone, but it wasn't there. “Damn! It's on the table,” I muttered. Luckily, she opened the door to the bathroom and went in. I waited until I heard the sound of running water for about a minute, and it didn't stop. I quickly moved from my hiding spot and tiptoed towards the door. Just as I reached the middle, almost at the door, the bathroom door opened.
