HALLIE 10 YEARS AGO “Can’t believe you will be leaving tomorrow babe” I said hugging TIM’s chest a little harder. Tim is my childhood best friend our mothers were high school besties, you know how that goes, best friends forever type of thing. We started dating at the beginning of high school we are these power couple, prom king and queen, pur!!1, ever since my mom died, TIM’s family has always being there for me and my dad and I love them soo much. Tim and I decided its best if we apply to the same university, we can be together and definitely live together, we will not have to be far from each other. Well we applied to the same school Tim got accepted but I didn’t, trust me I cried my eyes out, the school I got accepted in is 24 hours away from the love of my life, but we decided long distance relationship works so we are definitely going to be together, see each other during thanksgiving, Christmas so many holidays we even agreed to travel down for weekends everything is all planned out. “babe!!” Tim shakes his body with complete confusion on his face, “sorry, I zoned out” I said with a smile “oh I see, I asked what you said the other time” “I said can’t believe you will be leaving tomorrow, I’m really going to miss you, two months is too far”” what if you don’t have to miss me?” I pushed myself off him to get a better look of his face” how is that even possible babe? Except you want to transfer to my school” I smile adjusting myself properly, now I can fully see his face and he looks too serious for the joke he just said. “Hallie, there is something I need to tell you” Tim says while sitting up, “babe? What’s wrong?” he never calls me by my name except he is going to say something I’m definitely not going to like “I love you soo much princess, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You know that right?" “ yes I do, and I love you too” I try reaching for his hands but he pulls back. I’ve got confusion written all over my face, he decides to continue speaking “I think we should break up, we are never going to work, long distance isn’t going to work for us. My schedules are completely different from yours we will never have time to see each other” this point I’m completely confused “what are you talking about Tim, we already discussed this” “statistically only 5 out of 100 long distance relationship works Halie and you know that” “and we can’t be part of the 5? Tim where is all this coming from?” “princess” he tries reaching for my hand and I pulled back, this time I’m raising my voice “don’t touch me, so you just decided by yourself that we wouldn’t work? You did not even give us a try TIM!” “there is no point trying what isn’t going to work in the first place” “are you listening to yourself FFS!” I bring my voice low a little “let me ask you something, did you know this before you took my virginity last night?” “don’t put that on me Hallie, that was a mutual agreement.” “that wasn’t what I asked you Timothy, did you know you were going to break up with me today before we had s*x last night?” he looks down and I already knew what the answer was, hot tears were already threatening to spill but I held them back “so all this time, all the promises you told me, everything was for you to sleep with me?” I said beating his chest “NO, baby listen to me, I love you, but I don’t want us to have hope on something there isn’t hope for it to work, I don’t want you getting hurt and alone” he tries reaching for me again, I took a step back to stop him from touching me. I packed my bags and turn to leave I have absolutely nothing to say to him now or ever, I heard him calling my name and running after me but I kept running, allowing the tears to pour down on my face, I can’t believe what just happened. I got home gently opened the door so not to wake my dad, I went to my room and cried myself to sleep. I woke up to the sound of knocks on my door my dad is obviously off to work by now, I lazily stood up and walked towards the door I saw a familiar car by the drive way, “babe please I know you are in there please open the door let me explain please!” Timothy kept on banging the door but I refused to open, I stood by the window when he eventually gave up, and I watched him drive out of sight and my life forever.
