Lily's POV I woke to the sound of myalarm clock screeching in my ear. Ughh, I roll on my side hittingthe alarm that displays in big block numbers 1:00pm. Wonderful, Ihave thirty minutes to get ready. After graduating from high school a couple ofweeks ago I started to live the lazy life, and I love it.  Except for times like these, whenI'm racing around trying to get ready. Seven minutes left to get to myjob. Being a part time janitor has it's perks. For one, you're always aroundwealthy people who feels the need to tip you even though janitors don't gettips. And two, you find really nice things when you're cleaning. Of courseyou're not supposed to keep those nice things you're supposed to report it, butthe wonderful thing about wealthy people is that they just buy back whateverthey lost. I looked around myapartment to see if I was missing anything, Hmm no, I don't think so.I ran onto my balcony and jumped off. Okay, I'm not trying tokill myself if you're wondering, I live on the third floor which wasn't a steepdrop. I would have loved to live higher up but being lower to the ground ismore convenient because my balcony is right in front a forest. I ranto the forest in human form but transformed into my beige wolf once Igot there. The roots of my wolfs fur are white, but the tips of the fur are alight brown, causing me to look beige. I recently moved here sothat I could be closer to my job and the college I will attend months from now.I still haven't met the alpha who owns this part of town, so I'll have to becareful about being in wolf version until I get the chance to speak with him.   A couple of minutes later Iwas at finally in the huge building I worked at. In human form of course. I wasa couple of minutes late, but not by much. I'm actually earlier than most days.I went into the janitor staff room and changed into my outfit getting ready toclean. "Hey Lily, guess whowants to see you" my co worker approached me. "Oh no, who?" Ideadpanned I asked but I already knew who. My manager. "Your favorite personin the whole entire world. You know, besides me." She laughs at her ownjoke while I make my way out of the staff room. As I was walking past the frontlobby filled with a bunch of people in suits, I felt.. weird. I can't explainit but my wolf wanted out. Finding the managers officeI slipped in. "I heard you wanted tosee me" I said politely. "Don't sit, this willbe quick" she said just as I was about to sit in the chair in front herdesk. "Lilian " she starts with a tight voice. "I can explain" Iinterrupted. "Explain what?"She asked. I stand quietly. I have noidea where I was going with that explanation. I don't even know why I'm here. "Lilian, put thejumpsuit in the employees locker room and go home. I'm letting you go" shedismissed me by going back to the newspaper she was reading. My jaw drops before I snapit shut "Can I have an explanation as to why I'm fired?" I try tokeep a calm voice. "You're late. All thetime. I don't know if you thought I wouldn't notice, but I do." "I'm hardly everlate" I exclaimed. It was lies though, I know I'm always late, I didn'tthink she paid attention though. "You were latetoday" she said. "Only by a fewminutes." Her had snaps up to look atme. "Your shift started at 12:00pm but you came in at 1:40pm." Awkward."You're right, it was totally irresponsible of me and it won't happenagain. But I've been working here for a while now, I need at least two weeksnotice before getting let go. I have expenses to pay and I need the time to lookfor a new jo-" "Lilian." "Okay I know I messedup but I'm actually really good at this job compared to your other employeesand I-" "Lilian." "If you'll just listento m-" I jumped when she slammeddown the newspaper on her desk and rose out of her chair pointing a finger tothe door. "Don't let me havecall security" she said. My eyes narrow, my wolfwanted to come out. I mean, I know being late was my fault but shecould of at least have the decency to hear the lie that I was going tofeed her. Though, if my wolf came out hers would too, and she would most likelywin the fight because I haven't been trained. Long story short, when my parentswere willing to teach me a couple things, I didn't feel like it. I moved outwhen I was seventeen. You could say I was one  of those annoying kidssaying 'YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME' then storming to their room. Only when I movedout did I notice that I was being dramatic. My parents and I have made up longsince then, so all is well again. I left her office. Losingmy job right now is extremely inconvenient for me, I have enough money for acouple more rent days but I can't afford to be out of a job right now.  Walking into the staff roomI spotted my friend Anna eating at the table. "What did she wantthis time?" she asked taking a bite out of her apple. "Oh you know, same oldsame old, crushing people's moods on the daily" I said grinning. "Andshe fired me" I added. The apple piece that was inher mouth fell out onto the table as she gaped at me. "Oh you are so attractive"I teased. She shut her mouth and flicked the apple piece on the floor. "Let the janitor cleanthat up" she waved her hand dismissively as I giggled. "ButWHAT!? WHY?" she screamed. "Okay first off, calmdown" I said rubbing my ears that ringed with the sudden increase ofnoise. "And second, because she's my boss, and I'm always late." "That's noexcuse!" she said. "Uh, yeah, it is.She's my BOSS remember" I exclaimed. "Yeah but you needthis job though. And if you leave, she will have to find another person to pickon and I just know it's going to be me" she whined pouting.  "Yeah I know I needthis job, UHH, if I wasn't so stupid and actually got up on time I wouldn't befired right now. No one near by is hiring right now." I put my head on thetable thinking of what my next move is. I rise my head and look at Anna.  She pauses mid crunch"What?" "I'm screwed." Istand to walk to the change room but she grabs my arm. "Maybe you can getyour job back by talking to her boss. Like, everyone thinks she's mean andirrational right? And she doesn't direct us, or make our schedule, we doeverything on our own and assume it's right, so you can't really be blamed foranything you've done wrong considering you haven't been told what'sright." "I'm positive her bosswon't care, we'll just be a headache."  "Let's just try. Let'sget her replaced so you won't be fired and we'll all get a new manager"she said. Her excitement was starting to roll onto me but I still had doubts. "We'll type a petitionand get everyone who agrees with us to sign it" Anna squeaked nodding herhead waiting for me to agree. "Alright" I sighwalking over to the desk in the corner. "Okay well you have totype it up because I still have a job to attend to" Anna leaves while Istare at the blank document I pulled up. An hour later I have a pageand a half done with lines underneath for people to sign and it's done. Anna walks in and sits atthe table to eat a banana "How's it going?" "I'm done" I saylooking at her. "Isn't your next break in four hours?" She laughs "I make myown breaks, no one ever notices so why stop" she shrugs her shoulders."Anyways give it. I want my name up there. And remember, when speaking tohim, her boss, be direct and confident." "I thought you werecoming with me!" I just about shout. "And what? Getfired?" She laughs. "You have nothing to lose but I do. Like yousaid, there are no places hiring around here so I need this job just as much asyou do. Heck, me signing my name is a risk." She took the papers from myhand and signed her name on the first slot. "You'll be okay, justbreathe." "Maybe I should comeback another day. I should practice more of what I'm going to say." "He's not always inhis office so you won't no which day to come in. At the end of the day he'sjust a person" She says. After giving me five moreminutes of pep talk I quickly got to work on getting people to sign the paper.When I finally got people to sign it, after begging half of them, I went to theelevator and pressed the top floor where the CEO is. If I wasn't nervous beforeI sure as hell am now, it will be embarrassing if I got turned down, or if hecalled her into the office while I'm trying to get her fired. Plus, would theCEO even be her boss? He seems to high up to worry about things like this. The elevator doors openedand I walked in with my cleaning supplies and my petition sheet in the pocketof my jumpsuit. I walked up to the front desk. "Hello, can you pleaseshow me the way to Noah Thompsons office? He made a mess and requested for itto be cleaned" I lied. "Down the hall to yourright and make a left" The secretary barely looked at me before going backto her computer. "Thank you" Isaid. Walking down the hall I was having that weird feeling again. My heart isin my throat and I want to turn back but I'm already so far. Of course thisisn't going to work but the worst that can happen is his kicking me out, Imight as well try. I knocked on the door and Iheard a voice say enter. Noah's POV "Enter" I said.Rearranging the documents scattered on my desk. But I stopped and looked upwhen my insides started going wild, and my skin got prickly with my wolfs fur.  At first I thought itwas my mate Heather. But it wasn't, it was a female I've never seen before,with long brown hair tied back into a ponytail. She was in ajanitors jumpsuit. She was absolutely gorgeous. Breathtaking. I sit still, watching hermove towards me and standing in front my desk. Her lips are moving but Ihear no words. I only watch her movements as though I'm in a silent trance. Little whispers start torise within me. My inner animal clarifying any confusion I had. Mate. Isall the whispers says. Over and over again.
