Blurb

"I cannot see the monster they forced me to marry," She whispered, trembling as cold, immortal hands cupped her face in the darkness. "But I know the devil holding me now is the only one who makes me feel alive."

Four souls trapped in the cruel games of immortal legacies.

Elara has lived in darkness her whole life, but her blindness doesn't protect her from the terrifying reality of her new life: a forced marriage to a ruthlessly possessive Werewolf Alpha to settle an ancient blood debt. Across the shadowed borders, Julian, a centuries-old Vampire Lord, is slowly drowning. Bound by a failing, arranged marriage to a wildly deranged and dangerous noblewoman, he lives in a prison of his own making.

When a fragile political treaty forces the werewolf and vampire courts under one roof, these two fractured marriages violently collide. Elara cannot see Julian, but his intoxicating, dark presence awakens a forbidden desire she has never known. Julian, exhausted by his wife's violent madness, finds an unexpected sanctuary in the blind girl's resilience.

As they are pulled into a secret, intoxicating romance, the stakes turn deadly. In a world of predators, their betrayal will unleash the lethal possessiveness of a betrayed Alpha and the unhinged, deadly obsession of a madwoman. Four perspectives. Two doomed marriages. One fatal betrayal.

The Beast and The Void
Darkness is never truly empty for Elara. For most people, the loss of sight means a void of nothingness, but my world is a vibrant tapestry built on the architecture of sound, shifting air currents and the dense weight of scents. She sat perfectly still on the plush tufted stool while the maids worked on her. She did not need eyes to know the exact dimensions of the bridal suite. A subtle tap of her fingertip on the vanity sent a faint, almost imperceptible sound wave rippling through the frigid air. The acoustic pulse bounced back to her in fractions of a second. It painted a flawless three-dimensional map in her mind. She could feel the high arched ceiling above her, the massive wooden wardrobes lining the far wall and the two terrified maids hovering near her shoulders. They were brushing her long black hair until it felt like liquid silk cascading down her spine. One of them, with shaking hands, carefully adjusted her curtain bangs so they framed her unseeing eyes just right. They were trying to make her beautiful, for a monster of a husband. "Hold still, my lady," the younger maid whispered. Her heartbeat was a frantic drum against her ribs. She smelled of lavender, stale sweat and terror. "I am perfectly still," Elara replied softly. Her voice betrayed none of the storm raging inside her chest. Today was the day her life ended and her true imprisonment began. The ancient blood debt between her disgraced family and the Elderbane Pack had finally come due. She despised the sharp metallic tang of copper and the heavy, oppressive aura she associated with the concept of red, the exact shade of the blood debt that brought her to this miserable place. She was the price they negotiated. A blind bride for a ruthless Werewolf Alpha who demanded submission from everything he touched. Her family thought she was entirely useless. They thought her blindness made her a fragile doll to be dressed, traded and inevitably broken by a beast. They did not know about the way sje could read a room better than any warrior with perfect vision. Her secret ability to echolocate was a weapon she guarded with her life. It was the only armor she had left in a world that viewed her as a bargaining chip. The older maid carefully draped the heavy wedding gown over her shoulders. It was a masterpiece of midnight silk without a single seam, stripe, checkered weave or garish polka dot pattern to ruin its smooth perfection. Elara traced the fabric with her fingertips. She despised the feeling of rough textures or anything that disturbed the senses. This dress, however, was a decadent, suffocating luxury that flowered over her skin like dark water. It felt like a shroud. Then, a sudden shift in the air pressure made the fine hairs on her arms stand straight up. The heavy oak doors at the end of the hall did not creak, but she felt the immense displacement of air as they were shoved open. There was a low rumble vibrating through the thick stone floorboards. It was him. Kaelen. The Alpha. The fortress was built of ancient rock and massive timber beams intentionally devoid of the clanging sound of metal or steel that would have violently assaulted her highly sensitive ears. His approach was signaled entirely by the terrifying weight of his footsteps. Every step he took was a strike against the earth. He moved like an apex predator closing in on a cornered prey. The maids gasped and immediately dropped to their knees. Their skirts rustled harshly against the floor. The temperature in the vast room spiked instantly as Kaelen stepped across the threshold. He smelled of rain-soaked earth, dark cedar, and an overwhelming predatory heat that seemed to burn the very oxygen out of the air. He dismissed the maids with a single low growl. They scrambled out of the room, leaving Elara completely alone with the beast who now owned her future. She kept her chin raised. She focused on the sound of his breathing. It was slow, deep, and entirely commanding. He stopped just inches from her. She could feel the inferno radiating from his massive chest. "You do not tremble in my presence, little bird," Kaelen murmured. His voice was a dark, gravelly vibration that settled deep in her bones. It was a sound that commanded obedience and promised beautiful violence to anyone who defied him. "Would it please you if I did?" she asked, staring straight ahead into the abyss. A low chuckle rumbled in his throat, vibrating through the small space between them. Rough fingers brushed against her jaw. His touch was heavily calloused, burning hot and possessive. He tilted her face up toward him, forcing her to expose the vulnerable column of her throat. She clicked her teeth together under the guise of a nervous tick. The subtle sound wave mapped his towering frame. He was massive. He had impossibly broad shoulders, heavily muscled arms, and a dominating stance that completely blocked his only path to the door. "It would bore me," Kaelen whispered, leaning so close, his lips brushed the shell of her ear. "You are my mate, Elara. Bound to me by blood, ancient duty and the moon itself. You will give me strong heirs. You will rule my pack by my side. And you will never leave this territory as long as you draw breath." His massive hand slid slowly down her neck to rest heavily on her collarbone. His thumb stroked, the erratic pulse fluttering wildly beneath her skin. The sensual tension in the room was thick enough to choke on. It was terrifying but beneath the primal fear was a dark, forbidden thrill that she hated herself for feeling. The beast wanted to consume her whole and a treacherous part of her fractured soul wanted to let him. "The treaty guests have finally arrived," Kaelen said suddenly. His tone hardened into something rigid and dangerous. He pulled his hand away, but his oppressive aura remained wrapped tightly around her body. "The Vampire Lord and his . . . wife. They will be staying in the western wing. You are to avoid them entirely. The bloodsucker is a necessary political evil, but his mate is completely unhinged. She is a former stage actress, a deranged performer who delights in torturing the weak. Keep your distance from both of them." He turned and walked toward the doorway. "Be ready in one hour. The ceremony waits for no one." The heavy wooden door shut behind with a solid thud. The sudden absence of his overwhelming body heat left the room feeling freezing. Elara let out a long shaky breath and stood up from the stool. Her black hair fell perfectly around her shoulders, brushing against the smooth silk of her gown. She navigated the room by clicking her heels against the floorboards to map the open space. She moved toward the large open window overlooking the main courtyard. The cool evening breeze carried the scent of crushed pine needles, damp earth and approaching rain. But there was something else weaving through the damp air now. Carriages were arriving below in the courtyard. She could hear the heavy wooden wheels grinding against the dirth path. The massive horses snorted, shook their manes and stamped their hooves impatiently. Then she felt it. It was a sensation so profoundly unnatural it made her grip the stone windowsill just to steady her trembling legs. Amidst the chaotic noise of the arriving entourage there was a pocket of silence. It was a terrifying void in her echolocation. Every time her subtle sound waves hit that specific spot in the courtyard, they simply vanished. It was like dropping a heavy stone into a bottomless well and never hearing the splash. No heartbeat. No body heat. No breathing. Julian. The Vampire Lord had stepped out of his carriage. Even from two stories up she could feel the ancient suffocating cold radiating from him. It was a chilling unnatural presence that sent a spike of ice straight down her spine. But unlike Kaelen's overwhelming fiery heat, this cold was intensely magnetic. It pulled at her heightened senses, demanding her attention. She leaned closer to the open window, desperately trying to map the void that defied the very laws of her world. Suddenly, another distinct presence stepped out beside the silent void. This one was blindingly chaotic. Her heartbeat was erratic, wild, and completely untethered from any normal rhythm. She moved with theatrical, sweeping gestures that displaced the air in sharp aggressive bursts. The deranged actress. Julian's arranged wife. Elara could hear her high-pitched laughter echoing violently through the courtyard. It sounded like a beautifully tuned instrument playing entirely the wrong notes. It lacked warmth, sanity, or any shred of genuine joy. "What a dreary little fortress," her voice carried up to the window. It was incredibly melodic but laced with venom. "Tell me, darling, are we expected to sleep in this damp dungeon or just pretend to enjoy the hospitality of filthy dogs?" The void did not reply. He made no sound. But Elara felt a sudden distinct shift in the air pressure below. The suffocating cold turned slightly. The void was looking up. He was looking directly at her window. Her breath caught painfully in her throat. He could not possibly see her hidden in the shadows of the unlit room. She was tucked safely behind the thick window frames. Yet the static charge in the heavy air intensified drastically. An invisible electric connection snapped into place between them, bridging the vast distance from the muddy courtyard to her high tower. For the first time in her entire life, the darkness felt truly alive. The freezing cold reached up through the space between them and brushed gently against her mind, leaving a trail of dark forbidden curiosity in its wake. She stumbled back from the window. Her heart was hammering. Two men. Two impossible monsters. One demanded her submission, her fragile body and her entire future in a cage full of dominance. The other was a cold, silent void hopelessly trapped beside a violent madwoman. Both of them were incredibly dangerous. Both of them were utterly deadly. Elara rested her hand flat against her stomach where the midnight silk of her dress lay smooth against her skin. Kaelen expected a strong heir. He expected a submissive, broken little bird who would bear his pups and sit quietly in the dark for the rest of her miserable days. He did not know that the blind bird was already meticulously memorizing the shape of her cage. He did not know that she was already planning her desperate escape before the lock even clicked shut. She had to find a way out before a child could ever anchor her soul to the pack. But as she stood trembling in the center of the dark room, the freezing memory of the vampire's silent attention lingered on her skin like frostbite. Escaping Kaelen's obsessive possessiveness would be the most dangerous thing she could ever attempt. But falling into the dark orbit of the void below might just be the one thing that destroyed her completely. She walked slowly back toward the center of the room. The thick woven rugs absorbed the sound of her footsteps, but her subtle clicks continued to map every single inch of her opulent prison. Her racing mind drifted back to the fragile terms of the political treaty. The pact between the werewolf packs and the vampire covens had been shattered decades ago in a war. The forced proximity of this extravagant wedding was supposed to be a diplomatic bridge between the two warring factions. Kaelen, the most feared Alpha of the western territories, was hosting Julian, the oldest remaining Vampire Lord of the eastern nation. It was a massive powder keg just waiting for a single spark. And she was standing right in the dead center of it. She sank slowly onto the edge of the large four-poster bed. The plush mattress barely dipped under her slight weight. Her trembling fingers traced the intricate, smooth woodwork of the thick bedpost. She thought about the deranged woman outside laughing in the courtyard. She had heard terrifying whispers about her from the gossiping maids over the last week. Lady Genevieve. A beautiful former stage actress who caught the eye of a powerful vampire sire before going completely mad during her painful transition into immortality. They said she viewed her unending marriage to Julian as an ongoing twisted stage play where she was the tragic beautiful heroine and everyone else was merely a disposable prop to be tortured. She was incredibly dangerous because she had absolutely no concept of reality, consequence or restraint. Julian was bound to her for eternity. It was a failing, miserable arranged marriage that he could not escape without igniting a massive civil war within his own dangerous courts. They were dark mirrors of each other in a twisted, horrific way. Two desperate souls hopelessly bound to violent, unstable monsters entirely against their will. Elara leaned her head back against the solid wood, closing her eyes even though it made absolutely no difference to her vision. The sensual, heavy scent of Kaelen's dark cedar and thick musk still lingered strongly on her skin. He had marked her with his dominant scent just by touching her jaw. He wanted every single creature in the estate to know that she belonged exclusively to him. The thought made her stomach churn violently with a confusing mixture of deep revulsion and a dark undeniable heat. Kaelen was a terrifying beast who operated entirely on raw instinct, possession and brute power. But Julian was a complete mystery. A void that made no sound. She realized with a spike of panic that her echolocation, her one secret weapon, was entirely useless against the ancient vampire. She could easily map the stone walls, she could read the frantic heartbeats of the armed guards stationed outside her door and she could easily sense the chaotic madness radiating from Lady Genevieve. But Julian was a literal ghost. To her heightened, finely tuned senses, he simply did not exist. That horrifying fact terrified her significantly more than the Alpha's dominant growls. How could she possibly navigate safely around a predator she could not even detect? A sharp knock at the heavy wooden door broke aggressively through her spiraling thoughts. "My lady," a rough voice called out from the hallway. It was one of Kaelen's loyal beta guards. "It's time. The Alpha waits for you at the altar." She stood up slowly forcing her trembling legs to hold her weight. She smoothed down the front of the midnight silk gown, ensuring every single fold was absolutely perfect. She tossed her long black hair over her shoulder, letting the dark curtain bangs fall naturally around her face to shield her unseeing eyes. She took one last deep breath of the cold quiet air in the empty room. "I am ready," she said smoothly. She stepped forward into the echoing darkness. The dangerous game of legacies, blood and fatal betrayal had officially begun. She just had to survive long enough to completely rewrite the ending.
