When I came to, it was dark in the Hell Hole.  Still night time.  That was the only indicator—those awful fluorescent lights above.     My head was still on Cronan’s shoulder and I realized his head was resting on mine.  He was . . . sleeping?  Goat eaters sleep?  I could feel him above, completely relaxed.  It was so different from the frustration I’d felt before, peaceful.  All his stress had been palpable over the past day and I felt none of that anymore.     Does the link do that?     I tried my best not to move despite my stiff back, not wanting to wake him.  He deserved sleep.  He deserved comfort.  He’d been protecting me fiercely for days.  Interfering in every attempt of the other children to hurt me.  Even if it was only because he didn’t want to share his food with anybody el
