“Work?”
Theo nodded, lifting his hand and tucked a strand of hair behind Mary's ear. “I got the camera set up in the target’s home. We need to go over the footage to monitor his routine.”
Mary opened her mouth to speak but closed it seconds later.
They didn’t need a target. She had just shown him that. She had gone outside. She was fixed. Maybe not completely, but she was well on her way.
But he needed the target, didn’t he? This wasn’t about her, even if Theo convinced himself it was. She didn’t need to kill people to ease her pain, and even though those people deserved death, it wasn’t Theo’s place to decide. Everyone was guilty. So it wasn’t really about them, it was about Theo and whatever that had been torturing him.
